It is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast -Ephesians 2:8-9

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Did you ever meet a self righteous person with a boastful spirit. A person who almost acts as if they deserve heaven because they are so special. Well the Bible says that all of mans righteousness is as filthy rags in the sight of God. It is so because all have sinned and come short of his glory.

Now yes, we are suppose to live as best we can in a Christ like manner. And, yes we are to love our neighbor and let our deeds and our lives be a witness. But it is not our works or deeds that will get us into heaven. The greatest gift we've ever received has nothing to do with our efforts. It is a gift from God. We didn't earn it, deserve it, or purchase it. God gave it through his sacrificial gift of his son Jesus who gave his life for our transgressions.

So you see, our salvation can not be our boast,it is a gift freely available to everyone who will receive.
