Brutus' Description

The Swiss at some point realized that its support troops, cavalry, and certain other units required a shorter rifle then what was currently available and so designed the Model 1911 Carbine. The Swiss 1911 Carbine being smaller, lighter and still lethally accurate, became a favorite of the Swiss Army and its popularity contributed to the design of its successor, the K31. My picture is not great but these are really nice. They are also the last variation with the flatter mag plate which bench shooters tend to perfer, as well as the grooved Schmidt Rubin design bolt, and bakelite charging handle. 7.5x55 caliber, Straight Pull.

one of the greats.

I got one of these from my parents for my 16th birthday and hunted with it using Norma cartridges. This thing has no forgiveness on deers I've shot up to almost 3 hundred pounds. Like a dummy I sold it. Classic got some in and I found out. Bought one after not having one over thirty years. It is still one of the most accurate army surplus rifles you can buy and can't be beat at the price. If you want a rifle with the knock down of a .308 or more this is the one. With 15 hundred meter iron sights that says something in it self. This a bad boy and Classic is selling them at a very good price. Pay the extra 10.00 for hand select and you won't be sorry. Thanks classic for making a wish come true.
very nice

i ordered the 1911 carbine from your site and was very impressed gun is in excellent condition for something made in 1924. will be refinishing the stock though it apears to be painted ? other than that small thing am very pleased thank you very much.
Wish I had ordered this rifle earlier.

I chose hand select option and I guess I waited too late. The rifle is in "good" condition but the 1911 Long and the K31 that I ordered earlier were in better condition. Metal has some light rust and pitting. I think the bolt will look better after polishing. I'm a little disappointed but I'm still a fan of Classic Firearms. Shipping is always fast and customer service is very good.
swiss k-1911 carbine

This is my second rifle I have ordered from Classic Firearms. My first was the Russian PU sniper. Great gun and a great deal. My second was the Swiss k-1911 carbine. I ordered it with the hand select. The rifle was shipped promptly, ordered it Tuesday and received it Friday. When I opened the box the rifle was dusty, had a light coating of surface rust on it, the safety ring was rust covered, and the stock had been replaced and repaired in the past. The stock is cracked starting at the top of the left side down to trigger guard and runs past the magazine well, The stock still seems solid though. All the numbers match to include the magazine. the rifle clean up fine and I am looking forward to shooting it. My only concern is with the hand select. I was looking forward to receiving one in a little better condition than I did. More than likely if I would have seen this rifle before I bought it. I would have past on it do to it's condition.

Hi John - thanks for the review and for being a customer! We believe that "surface rust" is old dried up cosmoline and will wipe right off, let me know if it does not. The hand select if for the the best one out of ten for exterior cosmetics and for all matching #s. In the past, virtually every Swiss rifle we received had all matching #s, but that was not the case with this latest shipment as many were not all matching. Thus the hand select becomes even more of challenge depending on how many we have to pick through to find all matching #s (we do not stop at 10 for that one) as that is one thing we always make sure you receive with hand select. I hope this helps exp[lain why the condition may have been less than expected? We only charge $10.00 for the hand select and we do give quite a bit of our time to the process for that small charge. God bless, Rick Jones

Mr Jones and the Classic Firearms team, Thanks for the response. I just read it on line. The K-1911 did cleaned up fine. I stripped it down and spent some time cleaning and polishing it. Since posting the review I took it out and shot it and was pleasantly surprised. The most accurate military surplus I've bought to date. My shooting buddy was even surprised. The repaired cracked stock kinda aggravated me at first, but after shooting it, it turned from a a ugly ducking to a gem. You guys run a first rate operation which is rare in this day in age. I keep hoping that you will get another shipment of those PU snipers. I want another one and my shooting buddy has been waiting to !!!!

I just picked this rifle up today and I could not be happier. The condition of it was fantastic, which has been the case with everything I've purchased from Classic. The wood is in beautiful shape with little in the way of wear on it, and the barrel is bright and beautiful. I checked the serial number and found it was made in 1917. Hard to believe I was holding something so old in such beautiful shape. Get one! You will not be disappointed. I spent the extra money for hand select and was very happy I did.
don't miss out!

I ordered a K1911 long rifle and at first got the carbine instead. oops. was going to send it back but when I got it out of the packaging I was amazed. Walnut stock, in excellent condition - actually the cosmetics are better than any other Swiss rifle I own (and I own a few). 1932 dated receiver - 2nd to last year of production....all matching - 98% blue - bore is pristine. Sorry guys - you can't have this rifle back, its mine now ........ :-) TR

Another great purchase from Classic. Went hand select and received an awesome rifle. Can't wait to get this to the range. I would rate it excellent for it's age. Thanks again Classic!!! Your the best.

Ordered one with walnut stock. Beautiful "tiger stripes" in the grain. Gun looks unfired and is tight. Haven't shot it yet but looking forward to it.
