Great rifle. Great original mag. Reliable. M1A Mag mods need work.
Review by KoyoteTan on 5/19/2015
I have a whole series of vids on this rifle (https://goo.gl/jCCDZn). I really like it. I have had great luck with the original mag and the build of my gun is very good, even with a pretty gritty trigger.

My only complaint is magazine availability since the M1A mag mods that people say you should do are not reliable. I was able to do an alternate M1A mag mod, but it was pretty time consuming.
WOW!

What a great rifle...very accurate ! Good scopes available ! Easy 20 round mag conversion ...
Accurate and customizable
Review by Val on 10/24/2014
I tested the accuracy of this riffle with 14 brands of .308 ammo. You can check my youtube channel for two videos reporting the results. If you do not want to watch videos I can tell you that PPU 168gr Match and Aguila 7.62X51 150 gr shoot 1" groups at 100 yards. There were a couple of other brands that scored good, but they were more expensive.

Many people do not like this riffle because there are no high-capacity magazines for it and the thumbhole stock cannot be replaced because of the slant receiver. That is not true. In my video you can see how to replace the thumbhole stock with AR type tactical for $50.00 plus some Dremel work and epoxy. There are videos on the youtube how to modify M14/M1A 20 round magazines to fit this rifle, I've already made four magazines and it took me about 15 minutes Dremel work per magazine. Not bad considering that the Korean 20rd magazines for M1A are only $12.99 each.

You just cannot go wrong with this riffle.
Who needs an AR-10
Review by sapperchaplain on 6/27/2014
I wanted a semi-auto .308/7.62X51 that didnt start at $1000 and this one is a winner. About 400 rounds of pure fun so far...Im gonna buy another when they are back in stock. The only minuses I can think of is you cant get many different stocks, one of the magazines that came with the rifle didnt work very well and they only hold 10 rounds....and that being picky. The kick is not bad at all, scope mount is easy, I love the trigger pull and cleaning and maintenance a breeze. Get one and you will not be disappointed.
THE BEST 308 FOR THE MONEY.

WOW. GOT IT and I have to shoot right away. short video. love the rifle. is very power full and very accurate. very impress. fast shipping and the best service from classicfirearms like always. my favorite rifle now. I work the same day so show at the range in work clothes. regular ak scope mounting need mod. add tapco muzzle brake now and looks good. I purchase m14 mag and got it to work. will post video later with 14 mag. love this rifle. will recommend friends and family to classic.
.308 power, but takes work to be reliable
Review by William on 5/21/2017
Immediately replaced the thumb hole stock, removed the tack weld on the muzzle nut and installed a flash hider. CLeaned rifle and lubed. On the first trip to the range rifle was story stroking on the highest gas setting, which was causing spent cases to be left in the chamber and/ or mangling live rounds, crushing the brass to the point of bending the round and making it unusable. My solution was to use a 8/32 tap to tap the hole in the front of the gas block and plug it with a set screw from the inside(gas tube removed). I also slightly enlarged the largest gas hole in the chrome regulator with the closest inch size drill. I believe it might have been a 5/32 drill I used. Before going back to the range I also installed a Tapco AK74 style muzzle break instead of the flash hider to tame recoil a bit. Rifle cycles well now with both Zqi and Perfecta ammo.
Nice guns - minor
Review by Brian on 6/25/2016
I purchased two of these. Put a 1-5X Kruger scope on each one with a the side rail quick mount. Remover the plastic stock and added the adapter with an AR stock adapter. The adapter is not machined very well and will not necessary mount up correctly. Some dremel work or mill work on the adapter maybe necessary. Its seems to me a better system to adapt could be designed but in the end the ones I purchased ended working ok. The suppressor works really well. The flash from this rifle is big and the suppressor did a good job of eliminating most of the flash. So, the rifle works fine and the first 50 bullets were Federal with a steel casing and had little issue. However, the second time out we were shooting Hirtenberger on a hot summer day. The bullets in one rifle were jamming prior to shot, and on the other the ejector appeared to be too hard as it was shearing or clipping the brass casing. I am told that the bullet is too hot and the ejector needs to be softer and that I should only shoot steel casing through the rifle. Laquer free bullets also because the laquer will make this gun dirty. So.....there you have it. Nice gun, we are still tweaking and learning about.
Excellent Rifle

Bought the Zastava PAP M77 a year ago and had time to really spend time with it. Excellent rifle just the way it is although I did change the stock and trigger later on. I like the adjustable gas system. Classic Firearms is great to deal with also. Good price too----- an AR-10 in 308 will cost a lot more- I know, I built one.
Can't beat it for the price!

This is a nice rifle
I have other .308's that are twice the price, but I always pull out this one for the hunt
Great Rifle

Great rifle. Switched out the stock and added a flash suppressor.
Well worth the money and mine shoots great.
Shoots well, bad magazine
Review by Mike on 11/12/2015
I bought this some time ago and recently had the chance to take it to the range. The front slight was a little off center, but not too bad and the sites aimed true with my Wolf ammo.

As others have mentioned, it's hard to get a site picture with this firearm. I personally find this to be the case with almost any AK-47 (though not AK74's), so it was somewhat expected.

The biggest issue by far is the magazine. I'm not new to AK's or semi autos, and I'm not terribly picky about mags. The fit is a little on the tight side, but not the worst. The bad part is that the follower is not captured by the top of the magazine on the forward side, and it tilts terribly. I fired about 6 mags worth, and without fail, ever single last round did not chamber and was wedged between the bolt and chamber. It was an easy jam to clear, and the cartridge was slightly dented. The other issue I encountered was that it would not feed the first round with 10 rounds inserted into the mag. I down-load a lot of mags for that reason in various platforms, so not a huge deal, but compounded with the fact that the last round will never feed and will jam the gun, it's down to 8 useful rounds.

Hopefully some aftermarket mags will clear this up.

One positive I would like to note is the scope rail. While I haven't used it yet, it seems to be really, really solid. I might have to pick up a cheap scope for this gun, as I think that is what was intended on this model due to the elevated cheek rest.

Review by Alan on 9/2/2015
This is my second copy of the M77PS. My first order was placed at a time when they were very, very busy. It took about 2 weeks to get it out the door and I was as eager as a kid on Christmas Eve. I wanted my new toy. This time I placed the order on Monday, shipped Tuesday and picked up from FFL on Thursday. I'm always happy with Classic. They'really a bunch of good-ol-boys and girls.
Extremely underrated rifle.
Review by Gomez on 8/31/2015
Let me start by saying that the original magazines that come with the rifle SUCK! I could not get one of the original mags to cycle the entire thing without gaming. This has nothing to do with the rifle it is entirely a mag issue. I ordered some new mags from ccspecs and i found out what this little rifle can do. It can take any ammo you can get your hands on and spit it out with no issues what's so ever. I am currently getting 2.5" MOA at 100 yards and i am no expert shooter. If you want to get into a .308 but don't want to brake the bank this is the perfect rifle for you. My rifle has extensive modifications done to it and I still have less money in it than my buddy and his AR10 with not even a scope on it.
Converted M77
Review by Michael on 8/12/2015
Bought the M77 and conversion kit here @ Classic. Added a Texas Weapons System railed cover with iron sight leaf and a FAB Defense stock w Cheek Riser instead of the one that came with the kit. Using a Hogue pistol grip for the M77 and put the grip from the conversion kit on my AK-47 rifle. Was looking for a muzzle brake for the M77 and noticed there weren't many threaded for a .308, everything is made for 7.62x39. Came across Tactical Advantage Armory site and saw they had Titanium brakes or flash hiders and saw he had just designed a new one called the ZK-47. Contacted him, placed an order, and got it in last week. It really completes the look I wanted on this badass Classic Firearms M77. Really happy with the way this rifle looks and shoots. I will definitely buy from Classic again! Thanks!
Looks good but rust is weeping out
Review by Mg on 8/10/2015
Got this a year ago. Now I see rust weeping out from the trigger guard, sight and some from the rail. First I thought it was grease but no it's rust. I look online and other people are having the same issue. Classic was great on the order! But the rifle is another story. Buyer beware.
"of course"
Review by pitchfork on 7/22/2015
They may have 11 or 100 of these left, it wouldn't matter, they were going to select one with a severly canted front sight for yours truelly. Deflating to have to dig into new iron, but that is the love more than hate relationship with the platform. Gun looks good otherwise, better than a pitchfork.
NOTE: The second batch of Csspecs 20 round magazines rock in fairly smooth and tight with no fitting or filing. Very pleased with them.
Great rifle, clip avaliblity issues
Review by Kster on 7/18/2015
Shipping was quick and the rifle arrived in good shape. There was a few small blemishes on the bottom receiver near the trigger guard that needed a bit of work but the rest of the rife was well built and looked great. For the price this 308. is an excellent purchase.
Now for the not so great parts. If you are going to mount a scope on this rifle be sure to pick up the scope kit from Classic. It will fit the rifle perfectly and save a lot of time and aggravation trying to find the correct mount to match the one already on the rifle. As for clips mine came with one 10 round mag which is great to start with but if you are expecting the eventual zombie apocalypse you will definitely need to pick up some additional ones The only place I found them was from Csspects and they were manufactured in limited lots so the 20 round mags were sold out in a day while they still had some 10 and 15 round clips left to purchase.
So if your looking for a nice .308 and willing to shell out some additional funding for clips this is defiantly one to consider.

Review by James on 7/5/2015
Let me start by saying, I've not fired the rifle yet. This review is only on fit and finish. So, let's just start by saying, this is not the most "refined" rifle I've ever bought. It looks, rough. The rivets look well done, not countersunk. Sight post seems straight. But, if you're expecting something similar to a Vepr, in terms of fit and finish, don't waste your cash. Go get a Vepr. There are tool marks, EVERYWHERE on this rifle. I don't think it could look more rough, if they'd went for the "relic" look on purpose. Will this hurt functionality? I doubt it. But know what you're about to receive.

The stock, makes the iron sights basically useless. Getting your face down to a point where you can align the front and back sights, is almost impossible, because it sits so high. And obviously, the factory stock is useless for the lefty. But, it's almost just as useless for the man with large hands. That thumb hole is tiny. Lucky for me, I had no intention of keeping that stock. And the conversions put my eyes in almost perfect alignment with the irons.

If you don't like the handguard (which by the way, doesn't line up very well) good luck replacing it. They are longer than standard, and aftermarket replacements are ALMOST non-existent. Hogue however, does make one. UTG Pro, and Midwest (I think) make some aluminium models, but they're pricey for this application.

Oh, and aftermarket mags, are ALMOST non-existent.

So, just based on this, (assuming functionality is there) would I recommend it? At $500 total, out the door, tax and all price, actually I would. It looks rough as hell, but should be fine for what it's made for. Which in my mind, is to convert to something useful. Past that price, I'd have to say no. I'd say save your cash, and wait for a Vepr. MUCH better finish, known reliability, choice of aftermarket furniture, and mags are easily available.

I'll update on function, once I have a few trips to the range on it.
Great Rifle. Everyone needs at least 1

Man what a great rifle. Only draw back from it is the thumb hole stock but there are adapters , alternate stocks and pistol grips out there on the market for this rifle now. All and all love this gun.
Awesome
Review by Jordan on 6/25/2015
I purchased this rifle back in December 2014 when they were on sale from classic with the intention of converting it to a hunting/ DMR type configuration. Now being June of 2015 I'm finally finished it. I have added the classic firearms M4 stock adapter with a magpul moe collapsable stock, cheek riser, tapco saw grip, RS Regulate 307 side rail with a Nikon Prostaff 4x12x 40 scope, tapco flash hider, and a small rail on the forend to mount a bipod. All I'm all I am incredibly pleased with the rifle, with good ammo it's capable of 1moa very easily. 100% reliable, soft shooting, accurate, and all for under one thousand bucks? If your thinking about getting this rifle, do it! You won't be disappointed!
I liked this rifle , so I bought another one !
Review by ReconDad on 6/13/2015
I have so much to say I don't know where to start . I finally got to take it to the range today , and generally I am very pleased . I will break down my test into three categories , functionality , accuracy , appearance .

Functionality - This rifle fed and fired every thing I had , from full metal jacketed GI ball , soft points , to open tip match bullets . It is also worth mentioning that it does not beat up brass cased ammo like your typical AK .

Accuracy- My first five shot group with the open sights was around 2.5 inches . I am a former High Power NM competition shooter , so I shoot with open sights better than the average shooter , as we were restricted to open sights .
However, when I attached a scope , groups opened up considerably . I was using a good quality AK mount , which seemed to fit well , but after returning home, and removing the scope for cleaning , I found the aluminum body was pretty well battered on the end that serves as the recoil lug , bottom line is don't skimp on a scope mount . I am going to try an SVD mount , and I think that might rectify the situation . Accuracy is on par with all AK types , two rounds may be touching . and the third may land two inches away . I believe , with a good scope mount , it is a two to three minute of angle rifle . Mine actually shot the GI ball type better than match ammo .

Appearance - No complaints here , very nice , utility finish .

All said and done , get one of these while you can , it's a bargain .
ok Rifle
Review by norseman79 on 6/10/2015
I received this rifle over a month ago. I looked it over the best I could at the dealer, without a complete break down. I missed that the sight is canted, now I have to send it back to century to be fixed. The rifle functions fine. However, this is one of the roughest ak's I have ever owned. breaking it down was difficult because the dust cover didn't line up with the release button, cut wasn't big enough, had to fix that. the machining and hand work on these seems poor. the rifle has multiple areas with lots of surface rust. not sure if this rifle was stored somewhere humid? I spent a lot of time cleaning rust, but it's in hard to reach areas also, frustrating that a new rifle has rust. I did a conversion on this rifle, original stock is terrible, the receiver adapter works, but doesn't really line up very well, there's a huge gap looks cheesy. The bolt hold open notch isn't cut correctly, bolt will just release on it's own if gun is moved a little. The rifle didn't come with a manual, or trigger lock which I thought was required. I went to pick up another zastava rifle at my dealer today, m85 carbine. some parts had fallen off in transport I guess, and there were some other issues, so it's going back for a replacement. I have owned, and own, multiple other firearms from zastava. However, I'm starting to think that maybe their quality has gone down. Not sure, but I'm starting to regret this purchase. I bought this knowing it was an ak, and not an over priced ar 10, but if I knew before hand there would be so much hassle, I might have skipped on this purchase. Looking at the other reviews, I might have just got a bit of a lemon.
Great rifle.
Review by Chad on 5/31/2015
I got my M77 a few weeks ago. The rifle was covered in grease and needed a good cleaning. I hated the stock until I put a UTG Pro scope mount and a cheap 4 power scope on it and took it to the range. I was shooting the cheapest steel cased ammo I could find and zeroed the rifle fine. The rifle groups good if you do your part, about 1.5 M.O.A. I ordered a Primary Arms 1-4 scope for it. I will get some good ammo and see if I can get a M.O.A. or better. I plan to use this rifle to hunt big game. I think it'll do fine.
M77 - Reasonably priced, Not Banned, Affordable Ammo, Great Mags???
Review by AK All the Way on 5/31/2015
Hi all,

I bought two M77. I shot the M77 and jammed on 6 or 7th round. Don't worry. Alll AK's initially "may" jam. I sent to Century and they fixed the issue. And now it is flawless.

I didn't have any mags for it except the factory. The factory is ok. But not great. I went to CSSSpec Mags. They made the M77 mags. I bought five of them. Two of them had the type 3 issues. I just filed the type 3 issue away. And now I have 20 rds of 308 on the M77.

This is the best setup you can get with 500 dollar gun, 20 rds reliable Mags, and 10 dollars Turkish 308 ammo at walmart.

Get em - you won't regret it.

AK All the Way
Amazing rifle
Review by USMarine1058 on 5/29/2015
This rifle had been on my radar for the past few years and I finally bought one. I believe this rifle fits into the class of rifle similar (but not exactly) to that of the VEPR series in .308 or 54r in that it's built like a tank, it has all the quality of a rifle twice it's price with a cold hammer-forged barrel and for $549? Crazy!

I converted mine. I trashed the horrible butt-hole stock in lieu of a CANIS Yugo AR stock adapter mated with a Magpul ASAP sling adapter, and went with a mil-spec butt stock tube and a Magpul ACS stock. I removed the thread protector with a Dremel and screwed on a US made copy of the famous (and sexy)TABUK flash hiders on the muzzle. Lastly, I installed a US Palm AK Battle grip, which is arguably the best AK grip out there if you have normal to large man-sized gorilla hands. I ditched the included and very crappy 10 round mag for several excellent csspecs 20 round steel magazines, which are expensive and require a bit of hand fitting, but are well worth the money and time. In addition, I hung a Primary Arms microdot on an RS Regulate Yugo-Specific rail system. Once all of this was done I had one of the most bad ass Dragonov Class rifles out there. No joke, just over 2 1/2 moa with that 2 moa PA red dot at 100 yards bench rest with ZQI NATO spec ammo! I haven't tried match ammo yet, which kinda scares me.

Due to the low cost of the base rifle. It was well worth adding the cost of all the additional trash I had to buy to make this rifle into what it was meant to be. I believe if you don't buy one of these soon (read that to be today) they might be gone, as the price will rise or they will dry up and you'll be sorry. Don't wait. Get one now.
great buy probably my favorite rifle
Review by ryan on 5/10/2015
Love this rifle! I purchased this with the collapsible stock kit. I had high hopes of making this a bit of a project, so I got it in and the only issue I had was the slant cut mount didnt fit correctly. Nothing my file couldn't fix :) slaped it in attatched my muzzle, attached my stock and took it to the shooting range, shot it and fell in love! Slapped on my sks/ak sling, got myself a set of front wood handguards from ironwooddesign's a g2 trigger and an rsregulate scope mount and omg so pretty! If you are looking into a .308 rifle, I cant recommend more for this to be the rifle you purchase! Classic has yet to let me down!
Awesome gun!
Review by Jeffro on 5/6/2015
Everything about this gun is great except the front sling mount, it is loose as a goose and rattles. I will see if century will help me out if not no big deal it still is a great gun at a awesome price! Thanks again classic keep up the great service and prices!
Why are you still reading the reviews. Buy it now. Great Deal.
Review by mikelv on 5/4/2015
Not my first ak but was my first 308. Was expecting it to kick kinda like a Mosin but really not much more than the 7.62x39. I have a feeling as soon as the Mags become more available the price on these is going to take a JUMP so grab one while you can the price is fantastic. I converted a couple m14 mags but the factory mag is much better.

A special thanks sent to Ben and all the Classic Firearms staff. Great job with my purchase and communication for shipping. It arrived today and is better than the pictures. If you're looking for a good deal on a great rifle...here it is. Conversion kit is next. Thanks again. Additional firing review coming soon.
Nice rifle but magazine shortage is problematic
Review by Steve on 4/22/2015
I have only fired a couple of rounds through the rifle but I was impressed with its accuracy. Unfortunately, there was only one 5 round magazine with the rifle and there are no sites that I have found where you can buy additional mags. I have seen the video and written instructions on modifying m14 magazines to fit it. However since here is a 15 round limit on mags here in Colorado, ordering 20 round m-14 mags just wont work unless you have an out of state friend to take care of you. I would recommend going with the vepr since the mags are a lot easier to find. the cost difference just isn't worth the hassle.
Smiles all the way!
Review by Mikey on 4/22/2015
Got this jumbo AK 308 a few months ago.
Took it to range twice and fed 40 rounds with no probs.
Seems to be very accurate but I still have some
fine tuning to do.
Makes me smile every time I use it. Kick is not bad at
all. I like the stock it comes with but you can also order
the adjustable stock fro Classic and install it yourself.
Looks well made and solid. Excellent price.
Pedisposed intentions
Review by RMF on 4/17/2015
I purchased this rifle with predisposed intentions. Under all that black plastic furniture I could see my new M77 which was originally manufactured as a M90 machine gun was crying out to be reborn back into her original configuration.

So, set in my intentions I made the purchase as well as the replacement parts. For the furniture I used a heavy cosmolined M70 set and the same for the rear trunnion to get the correct fit for the new stock. All parts came from firearms that saw service in the Balkan wars at a time when Yugoslavia had yet to become Serbia. The muzzle brake is a Venom Antidote and will work on any 7.62 firearm. Mine is the one with the blue back ground

By the way; this firearms is legal in NJ as is, out of the box as well as in the configuration shown.

Review by David T on 3/30/2015
Love this thing, lot of fun to shoot. using a side mount rail and a 3x16 scope makes nice groups with the occasional flyer at 200 yards, I think the ammo is to blame, or my error. I do suggest using a muzzle break, liked to muzzle rise with out it, obviously

Let's not make a big deal about the stock and the mag everyone seems not to like. I'm a lefty and this gun still fits like a glove! .308, AK platform...under $500? Grab one!!! Oh yeah, almost forgot the best part...it's accuracy and performance is spot on!
Butt ugly stock
Review by AK Guy on 3/21/2015
For you guys looking for a cheap fix for that terrible stock you may want to try this. Flip it with the right side facing up. Take a hand saw and cut the pistol grip following the line down the palm swell. Now follow the radius behind it and cut out the section that connects the pistol grip to the rest of the stock. Take a rasp and radius the pistol grip and the opposite side of what you cut out . Put a nice little radius on that, too. That whole section is solid, no problems. When you get the stock off, you can stick a dowel inside till it bottoms out. Transfer it to the outside. That way you won't cut too far into the hollow section of the stock. After you get it shaped the way you want with the rasp, sand it with 80 up to 400. You can barely tell. Plastic sands well. May paint it later. The pistol grip is comfortable . There is plenty of meat in the comb if you're not using a scope and want to pare it down also. Those on a budget check it out, it will save you a 100 + on changing the stock. BTW, it's still solid as that bolt running down the middle keeps it stiff and doesn't bend. Did the first one in 45 minutes, second one in less than 30. While I'm at it those that want to put a brake or flash supp. save yourself some trouble. If you get a standard AK pin and spring for it the spring will be too short. I got a couple of longer springs at the Ace. The hole in the sight is drilled all the way back to the rear pin. Don't waste your time knocking that front pin out because when you put the spring and pin in there and look through the sight pin hole you won't see them. Another thing, the way the hole is drilled for the front sight pin and drove the pin in, there is a bump inside the hole. You maybe tempted to try and drill it out . Don't, take a small round file and file that bump out and your pin and spring will slip right in. If you don't the spring will fall down in there and it's a nightmare trying to get it back out and the detent pin will hang up on it too and won't move in and out. Don't force it or you'll be really sorry. Just remember when you take the brake off to let the pin out easy or it will go into orbit. Put a type 74 on the 2 I got and the recoil is about like an AR.
Great gun, great service.
Review by David on 3/18/2015
Recieved my gun today, cleaned it up, and headed to the range. I was very pleased with the function of the gun. Very accurate for an AK variant. The one mag is not all that great and i will be modifying some Vepr and/or M14 mags for it. That is if i can not find mags made for this gun. As for Classic Firearms, excellent service. Very professional. I truly appreciate it.
Perfect.

Just wanted to say, that even though I just picked this up and haven't shot it yet, that this rifle is just what I was looking for a far as a 308 ak that is well built for the price. Tore it down and inspected, perfect from the internals to cosmetically. If you're debating getting this rifle, stop it and just hit the order button and get this fine rifle in you're hands. I can only imagine until I get it out and fire it that I won't have any problems. Oh and make sure you get some vepr 308 or m14 20 rnd mags to convert for more capacity.
hell of a buy....

Built like a tank, AK durability, with .308 punch.
Review by Steven on 2/20/2015
Like many other reviews on this rifle, This is a great rifle for the price. First off, your getting AK durability, plus if your not aware, the Yugo Zastava receivers are 1.50 mm thick, which is thicker than the traditional soviet AK which is 1.00 mm thick. Based on the MB70 Zastava, this makes a great strong platform to base a rifel off of.

Secondly, you are getting a rifle that fires the tried and true .308 Win. round. Known for accuracy, and power. That in itself makes this rifle a sleeper of a deal. If you know anything about what a lot of the semi-auto rifles cost in .308, you will want to jump on this.

Another bonus to me is, with all the 922r compiant parts that are available for this rifle, you can modify it to your taste and not have to worry about your choices. Some are turned off by the slant receiver, but there are companies that make an adapter for this. Not a problem.

Thirdly, this rifle seems to eat anything. I took it to the range and fired a variety of ammo brands. Wolf Gold, FNM from Portugal, Surplus Lake City from the 80's, and some NATO Match. All shot and fed with no problems. I fired some with Iron sites and some with a Barska Red dot. With my old tired eyes and iron sites, at 100 yards I was getting a best of 2-1/2 to 3 inch groups. With the red dot I was getting at best 2 inch, which isn't bad. I believe you might be able to shave off a little with a good scope. I will see in the future.

The only negative I can think of on this rifle, and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars and has been stated in other reviews, the comb of the stock is not condusive for the iron sites. So you would be better off to buy a scope mount and decide on what kind of optic you want to use, if you are going to keep this stock. To be honest with you, I'm just not crazy about the stock anyway, and have changed it on mine. The only other negative is you are limited to 10 round mags. Yes, I know there are mods for M14 mags and for VEPR Mags, but not all people would be willing to try this.

But overall, everyone who loves the Kalashnakov design, who loves the punch and accuracy of .308 ammo, and who wants a great Bang for your buck deal. Then I highly recommend this rifle. Plus you get the great price and service that you get with Classic Arms.
Great gun, bad stock
Review by Bullet Bob on 2/13/2015
This gun is rock solid, none of that "re-assembled here" feel. From front to back, the muzzle thread cap is tacked welded (tiny weld) but it's on the right side not on the bottom like most others. To cut it use a dremel composite disc or a CARBIDE blade hack saw, fine pitch, it's super hard like all welded caps. The threads are M14X1.0 LH like any AK. The bayonet lug is missing but the pocket that grabs the cleaning rod (also missing) is there. The sling loop is in the normal spot and is extra wide, over an inch. The low medium high gas adjuster requires a round to pry it up, fingernails wont get it. The gas tube is about 3/4 inch longer than normal and the blow holes aren't on the sides or the end as usual, there's a single 3/32 hole in the front of the gas block and two 1/8 inch holes hiding on the bottom of the gas tube. The fore grip is cool, solid as a rock and about an inch longer that standard so only Zastava or Yugo types will fit. The take down lever is normal but the sight is on the short side like a Norinco. The numbers are filled with black paint and the surrounding metal stripped bare so they're easy to see. The bolt handle is nicely polished unlike many others. The mag is nice and tight, Galil mags are almost the same and are the best to modify but M14 mags are cheaper although they're more of a hack job. The safety has that trendy notch that will hold the bolt open if you pull it up with the bolt pulled back. Useless feature except for range safety. The grip nut is the riveted to the bottom type, a ProMag Archangel fit perfect, it's a nice big four finger grip with a stash compartment. It has one of those ugly scope mounts, and the receiver looks like the RPK type with dimples and those long rectangular projections near the rear sight. The button that releases the top cover is strange, it moves in half way then you have to press a button on the left side and push more. When it's all the way in you release the little side button and it holds the big one, then the cover lifts right off. The cool part is when you replace the cover you just line it up and push the little button, no cover smackin'. I mentioned the pistol grip before because the thumbhole stock had to go, every shot was like taking a left hook. The comb is so huge I couldn't get my eye to reach the sight line. The only way to replace it without becoming a welder or a carpenter is to buy the ACE Zastava receiver block adaptor. Then you can attach their skeleton stocks or an AR adaptor. With the AR you'll need a dummy tube to thread into the adaptor to mount the stock on. If you go for the skeleton stock and don't buy the folding mechanism like I did the stock will mount high or low and look stupid so I ended up making my own adaptor plate. The skeleton stock comes in three lengths so I got the longest because all AKs seem short to me, it's perfect. lastly the but pad came in 1/2 inch and 1 inch so I got the 1/2 inch because I'm not a sissy and 1/2 inch is plenty. Almost forgot, the guts were clean when I got it so I ran a patch through it and started blasting, 100 perfect shots, I love this gun. By the way, NEVER shoot a new rifle without swabbing the bore first. In closing, ARs and AKs are lots of fun but everybody needs a .308 semi-auto battle rifle in case they're invited to shoot with the grown ups.

Review by tennesseean on 2/12/2015
This rifle is a well made rifle ...it is a military style of rifle , I am saying this because it does have a lot of free bore.....this is the amount of jump the bullet makes before contacting the rifling... this lowers the pressure.....BUT ...it makes the bullets walk around a bit you see this a lot in ak's and SKS and the only way to really fit it is to replace the barrel... Enough said... Now ...here how I over came it...I picked a bullet that the ojive/bearing surface was closer to the nose of the bullet...now here's what was hypothetically used just saying ..........................
....lake city brass....federal 210 match primers...Speer 150gr.BTSP bullet .....win. 748 powder 45.0 GRS......note ...always start at a lower powder charge..hey just trying to help not hurt.....and I am Not endorsing any of these company's or their products..just saying....hope this helps and be safe..
awesome rifle
Review by Andrew on 2/12/2015
Just got my rifle today. First impressions, solidly built rifle. I'm impressed. Mounted a scope on it ready to go to the range. Got a TufForce adjustable AK side mount MT-2k15 and an ANS 4x12x50 red, green, and blue illuminated scope. The scope mount is perfect. I didn't have to modify it in any way. If you get this rifle you have to get that mount. Just b sure to remove the small allen screw on the inside of the mount cause it keeps it from sliding all the way forward. Got scope and mount for $87.99. Can't beat it. Awesome rifle. Ready to take it to the range.
Great service!
Review by Taylor on 2/12/2015
I received my rifle a couple of days ago, and haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. 4 stars for now, mainly because I don't like the plastic furniture.

It seems well made and solid, with the exception of the hollow butt stock. But, that will be gone soon enough. Everything is tight, but should loosen up just right after a couple of trips to the range. I'll post a video review once I get it loosened up.

Great CS and communication from Classic. This was my first order from them, but definitely won't be my last

I was impressed with how solid this rifle is. Great buy. My only dissapointment is that it did not even come with an owners manual. Definitely alot cheaper than doing an AR10 build.
Almost perfect
Review by john on 2/7/2015
I love the rifle it is very hard hitting and groups great. The only factor that takes it from 5 stars to 4 stars is the factory supplied magazine hangs cartridges very often. It is the magazine not the rifle itself.
So far, so GOOG
Review by kal on 2/5/2015
Only have a couple hundred rounds thru it.
Pro: Functions 100%
Fairly accurate
Well built
Muzzel nut comes off easily; good thread beneath

Con: Stock comb too high (for my face)
Optic rail limits barrel centered scope choice
Dust cover button useless, in the way

My Favorite Gun
Review by Randal on 1/6/2015
First let me say that at first I did not like this gun. Now, it will be the last gun I ever get rid of. I tried several different brands of ammo and settled on Russian Silver Bear 145 grain fmj. I get tight group's with this ammo. Also, I spank the 10 inch plate all day long at 250 yards. Longest shot so far with it is 265 per laser range finder. The reason I disliked the gun at first was the iron sights and the stock didn't match up for me and I couldn't hit the broadside of a barn from the inside. After mounting my trusty Nikon scope on it, the stock/scope combo is perfect. I spent 8 bucks on a short piece of picatinny rail and can now use my G.P.S bipod. This gun is pimp. I out shot my buddies yesterday with their AR15's. Not really fair I guess though cuz I'm a professional shooter. Still, I love this gun now and it earned the second slot in my safe. I've put 300 rounds through it, cleaned it several times too. It's exactly easy like an AK47 to tear apart. I've been converting 20 round mags to use in it and so far so good. I'll take this rifle over any AR platform anyday. Matter of fact, I'm probably going to purchase another one to keep for a rainy day.
Great price, Great quality, Great gun

Purchased my m77 about a week ago and absolutely love it. The butthole stock that everyone hates i actually really like, lets me have a snug fit on my shoulder. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a .308. These perform just as well as a high end $1100 308
You will not find a better .308 for the money!

this is an excellent choice for an ak type rifle. cant beat the price and customer service, with quick delivery ,.has all the quality you could ask for. no complaints here, loving it. if you are looking for a large caliber semi auto heavy built ak , this is it, get one while you can.

This is really a great gun, just as they describe it. received it in 3 days. these guys ship extremely fast. I ordered my gun on a sunday night and they shipped it first thing monday morning, received my tracking number at 9 am! These guys are outstanding.

As for the gun, I was doing a bit of shooting with some wolf soft point ammo.....and let me just say with open sights no mods what so ever i was hitting red consistantly at 50 yards. no bad for iron sights out the box.

I've had vepr's and a few other variants, so far this is my favorite gun. I highly reccomend this gun.

Zastava is synonymous with QUALITY. Anything from this reputable company easily competes with any of the more expensive options on the market. Why pay twice the amount for a Saiga or Vepr when you can have every bit of the fit, finish and functionality with the M77? The chrome plated bolt, bolt carrier and adjustable gas system make this rifle worth far more than the asking price and with Classic's great customer service and lightning fast shipping, you almost can't afford NOT to order this! You WILL NOT find a better deal for a battle rifle in the .308 cartridge. Don't waste your money on the finicky AR10.
This is the second rifle I've purchased from Classic and there will be many more to come. Thanks Classic Firearms!

NOTHING sloppy about any part of this rifle. Everything fits together perfectly nothing loose at all. The finish is quit honestly perfect. I found not one blemish on this weapon.

Thanks again Classic for another great product.

Oh yeah and thanks for the crazy fast shipping. Order Tuesday, accessorized it on Thursday

Nice gun for the price. Listed as having two magazines but only came with one. First was told they only come with one mag and sure enough, after I ordered mine, the website was changed to one magazine. After speaking with Ben, he said their supplier changed to one magazine without telling them and they would provide the additional magazine to those who were promised two, once they get them back in stock. Glad about that but has been several months now and still waiting. Also, the trigger doesn't always return after firing but apparently this is somewhat common??

What an awesome rifle and the looks the other ak folks give me when I go to the range with it its like bringing a cannon to a pea shooting contest very accurate and fun to shoot no issues and now that I have an abundance of 20 round mags for it it looks as awesome as it shoots the 10 round mags make it look pretty passive get some 20 rounders in her and the fun and stares begin
I like it
Review by Whiskeytango on 6/17/2014
Great service and great weapon! Cant touch an AR platform in this caliber for less than $1k and I can get two of these with that money. 400 rounds and everything works great, had some issues with one of the magazines but the weapon is fantastic. Kicks far less than you would think...burned up 100 rounds in one sitting with no shoulder burnout. Fun, sexy easy to get scope on and can clean without removing it. I am looking for other stock options. Great weapon at a great price...Im getting another when they are back in stock.
Good Deal
Review by Will on 6/5/2014
Received my M77 after waiting two weeks for its delivery. It appears to be a good, solid rifle, although I haven't fired it yet. It's going to need a lot work before I take it to the range. So far, I've removed the plastic thumbhole stock to replace it with furniture from a Yugo parts kit, but it's going to take about ten days to refinish and fit the wood. I also plan on removing the thread protector from the muzzle so I can install a detent pin and muzzle brake. Overall, I'm happy with this rifle purchase, but I'll need to invest at least another $300 to get it into a satisfactory configuration.

Ordered and received 3 fast days later. Super clean with lite oiling. Came with , 308 mag as advertised. PLEASE let your customers know where to get more 10 round mags or 20 round mags. My research shows that there may be "modified" M14, 20 round mags available but not WHERE at. Also, would rather destroy a mag than an expensive rifle that is pristine in workmanship.
Incredible Buy!!!

I grabbed one of these when they came back in stock and it was the best rifle purchase I've ever made! These would still be awesome if they cost $200 more. They are fantastic quality AK's and in 7.62X51? Shop around for a better buy - you won't even come close. The thumbhole stock has to go, but it's an easy fix.

I'd been looking at this rifle for quite some time and the reviews seemed positive. The price was definitely attractive and I couldn't wait any longer! It's proven to be really accurate and i will soon be adding an optic to take full advantage of this rifle! Classic has hit another home run with this one!

I had been checking this one out for quite some time and finally decided I had to have one! I've only run roughly 40 rounds through it so it's not even broken in yet but it performed flawlessly! It was more accurate than I thought it would be as well. Definitely will be adding an optic to get the full potential out of it! Great price for a great rifle! Grab one when they are available, you won't regret it!

Bought the Zastava 308 after reading a bunch of reviews. Really glad I did. This gun is an absolute blast to shoot! Mounted Leupold 3x9 and combo is perfect. Went out shooting & wife watched me shoot a few rounds. She commented on how it didn't look like the recoil was bad at all. She is a pretty small woman. She shot it & giggled! I had to buy one for her!

The whole thing looks great. I wished it came with a cleaning kit, since there is a location for the cleaning rod. It lookes kinda weird it not being there. Easy to take apart, well built in my opinion. The only thing that had me not rate it with 5 stars is the side rail scope mount. If i am correct, svd mounts work on it, not a ak mount.
I am waiting for my svd mount now to mount a posp scope, and my tabuk muzzle. You guys did good. I would buy another one. But I a Mosin Freak and all i bought from you are sweet. Thx and keep up the great service.

for Christmas.

Down South, if it ever breaks (ZombieTimes) it will only last 2 or 3 days most places. So wanted to make sure my sisters and their kids and husbands could get to our Lake hideaway. Well made rifles and can't beat the price. Suitable for deer and will stop a car/boat engine if needs to be. Simple simple simple to operate and very accurate for AK type platform. We put Leupold Rifleman 3-9x40mm scopes on all three. Works very well. Likes the 'Colt/Silver Bear' 168grain as does my Savage Scout.
So glad i grabbed one!

Just purchased two of these fine weapons, one for my brother and one for myself! What an awesome rifle! Quality of this build is as good as some ak's that sell for twice the price! Fit and finish is very nice. I was a little concerned about the stock set on this but after seeing and handling the rifle I can say it is very ergonomic! Zastava really builds a fine rifle! Thanks to you guys at Classic Firearms we now have 2 outstanding 308 rifles. Now we cant wait to get them to the range and put some lead downrange! Great rifle.
Review by Rusty Shackleford on 1/7/2014
Great rifle for the price. Good and heavy, with a heavier than standard barrel too. It holds right at 1 1/2 groups at 100 yards with PWC bronze, even after 20 rounds of quick firing (heavy barrel FTW). The plastic butt stock (still dumping it because it is getting converted back to its original M91 configuration) is really sturdy despite it being a import requirement piece, unlike Saiga rifle stock. My only complaint is one of my mags does not work because the rear locking lug is placed to far up the mag for it to lock in the rifle, and is COMPLETELY useless, although this is not Classic Arms fault. Other than having only one mag, it is a fine battle rifle, worth the money.

Test fired at factory like military spec.(had to clean barrel a little better with copper solvent but I'm picky to break it in right)
Hammer forged barrel, trigger almost like 2stage, a little take-up and breaks like glass, surprised by how good it is and not broken in yet. Good exterior finish, adjustable gas pressure with dial to soften cycling to ammo used. Mags are 29$.
Those Yugo's know how to make an AK-47!

I bought this gun a couple of months ago. Great gun for the money. Zastava PAP M77 is very powerful, accurate and reliable, even with cheap Russian & Serbian ammunition.

It is every bit as accurate, as my Savage Axis using the same ammunition. The gun handles well, and the felt recoil for this gun is negligible. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable, fast, accurate & powerful rifle at a fraction of the cost for M1A.
A lot of gun for the money

AK's and .308 go together like chocolate and peanut butter.

The fit and finish is very good. The muzzle nut has a small, and easily removed tack weld on it.
