Nice USA made AK for the money.
Review by brownbmo on 2/24/2016
Received this yesterday after fast shipping by Classic Firearms. I was pleased with the fit and finish of this US made AK. I saw some mixed reviews on Youtube, but I found little to be concerned about; see my youtube video.
Its very light and I installed the Magpul folding stock on it with no problem at all. Mags fit tight, nice trigger, metal and wood finish is nice; I hope it functions as well as it looks. Don't believe all the negatives you may hear, the quality is totally different than what they made before moving to Florida.
Great Value
Review by Jared on 3/22/2015
I couldn't ask for much more from a $500 rifle. The fit and finish is solid and even my local FFL couldn't believe how much I paid for it. Minus some hammer snag, this rifle seems like it won't have any problems.
Excellent Rifle
Review by Ricardo on 6/18/2017
My son and I went to the firing range to shoot three rifles that I purchased from Classic Firearm. One of the Rifles was the M247- C AK47, an excellent weapon! Everyone stopped shooting their weapons to watch my son shoot the AK47. What a great father's day present. I will highly recommend this weapon to others .
Don't believe the haters.
Review by will on 6/12/2017
Bought one and fired 360 rounds out of the box. The only complaint I have is that mine was bone dry. The very first round jammed in the chamber. The carrier pulled it eventually, and I worked flawlessly after a little more oil was put on the bolt. Over all i am very happy. Classic specified it would have 1 mag and no manual. Mine came with 2 clear mags that fit extremely tight(no wobble). It also came with I guess a manual. I would call it an advertisement. It out performed my buddy's new wasser 10.
Great Job Classic Firearms
Review by Iosefo on 8/10/2016
I was impressed on how quickly my order got to Hawaii. Thank you for your great service. The rifle is amazing for its low price. My first 100 rounds worked flawlessly with out a jam. Pretty accurate from a 100 yards out of the box with cheap ammo. The only minor complaint is the magazine was quite tight at first but began to loosen up by the 20th round. I'm jealous that earlier investors received two mags. Anyways, I think I might get another one for my son in law. Aloha!
Good rifle, couple issues
Review by Joseph on 3/8/2016
Let me begin by saying that Classic Firearms has great customer service!

Now, onto the rifle. Overall solid quality compared to the commie mil slurp I'm used to. However, the front sight post was so loose that it rotated and fell through the bottom of the drum. I'm contacting IO now to get it fixed.

Also, the mags are rediculously tight in the weapon. I will be switching to PMags and see how those work instead.
Pmags dont fit well
Review by mike on 3/5/2016
Very nice finish on the wood and steel. i have had many Aks and this one is quite nice. the Wood was high gloss smooth, actually to nice haha i plan to sand the gloss off and go with an oil finish.
The Plastic mags do not fit well at all and could only get one to work but you really got to work at it to get it in. maybe needs some sanding or something but ill probably buy metal ones and junk these. still 5 stars forthe gun itself even with crappy mags
remove stickers&mag

Review by Rick on 11/14/2015
Really nice weapon like it very much. Right out of the box I was putting bullets in the black. 14-19 in the black standing not bad at 25 yd and yup its bore sighted but still not bad. pot shot at 100 yds hit the target. Out of the box nothing loose even w/mag in. Only thing I didn't care for was the glue from the stickers lots of clean up. And under the forearm under the sticker it had a ding but the size of a dime almost to the bear wood. Not going to send it back for glue and a ding. I don't buy a weapon to look at I do take care of it clean it put it away. It was really fast getting the order here at my place and I am very happy bout that. I will tell others bout how happy I am with this weapon. And I will buy something else from them for sure. I'd give a 5 if I didn't have to deal w/someones elses miss care of the stock.Other than that I give it a 5 hope I'm not being picky. Thanks really nice weapon.
beware
Review by KalashnikovKapital on 11/9/2015
Bought this rifle and On exactly the 500th round the cast pot metal hammer sheered off not engaging the pin on trigger pulls. Replaced with a new hammer and she fired for another 200 or so rounds before beginning to slam fire. I thought I could fix it and took it to the range the next day and the thing EXPLODED ON THE GROUND AFTER SLAM FIRING AN ENTIRE MAG. DO NOT buy the garbage io rifle from us factories. If you research these rifles you will discover that they're the absolute worst rifles in the AK market today. In the course of a kalashnikov, American is not best by any means. These things are death traps
good ak
Review by John on 10/2/2015
This AK from I.O. Is awesome. No mag slop at all. Everything is nice and tight. You can definitely tell it is made in the U.S.A. The wood is beautiful as well. Fires flawlessly. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great AK. And once again thank you classic firearms for a great gun at a great price!
Great looking gun!!!
Review by James on 9/15/2015
First, I would like to say that the service of classic firearms was great. I ordered on a Friday and received my gun on Tuesday. I really like the constant email updates regarding where my gun is in the ordering/shipping process.

Now, for the gun....the gun seems to be well made and sturdy. The included magazines have a very snug fit with no wobble. I have yet to be able to take it to the range, but I do not expect any problems.
The only issues I have are 1)some of the finish on the bottom of the handguard is missing (about the size of a dime.) From the residue that is present, it appears that there was some kind of sticker or label that had been removed and it took off some of the finish as well. 2) as others have mentioned, the "I.O. Made in the USA" sticker on the stock leaves a residue when removed. It was easily cleaned with some Goo-gone gel so more of a minor cosmetic inconvenience.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and will try to update my review once I have been to the range.
Sweet
Review by Jesse on 8/25/2015
when I got my ak it was in pristine condition. The stickers on the stock left residue, but using a plastic scrapper and rubbing alcohol the sticker residue came off. The safety seems to easy to move between safe and fire. But overall It's amazing! The hard case that it's shipped in is nice. I would recommend this to anyone!
Overall pretty good
Review by Jesse on 8/15/2015
First time buying online. Process was pretty good. I used to have a true Kalashnikov. The safety switch on this io seems to be way to easy to move (no resistance). The internals seemed to be made from a casting. I had to force the magazines into the mag well. The mag well shaves the magazines when trying to eject them. However, this is a $500 rifle. I will be buying the Romanian internals to swap the safety switch and bolt carrier.

Classic firearms did a hell of a job packaging and shipping this rifle. They were very knowledgable when i had questions. I will be ordering from classic firearms again.
Satisfied except for one thing
Review by Drew on 7/31/2015
Got my rifle from my FFL today. It looks great. Just don't order extra mags at the same time. They ship in the case and gouged the hand guard pretty good. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't for that.
Great Value
Review by Savio on 7/20/2015
This was my first online gun purchase. The process was simple, shipping was fast and everything was as advertised. The gun is well built and the wood is beautiful, the pictures do not do the laminated stock any justice. The case is of good quality and the two mags fit real tight with no play, almost too tight. Im sure the mags will not be so tight after a little use.
Good value
Review by Ray on 7/17/2015
For this kind of price, this AK offers a great value. The hard case and the extra name brand mags I received are great additions to this firearm and do an excellent job of sweetening the deal. My AK came in flawless condition. My only complaint is that the big "made in america" sticker was hard to remove without damaging the wood stock. But, for this price, it is a great entry level AK, especially with the scope mount, which makes it easy to use whatever optic you want on it. Has yet to jam and is very accurate as well.
Not an AR but awesome in its own way
Review by stefan on 7/8/2015
Got the AK from classic and as always happy with classic's fast shipping and really impressed with their emails keeping me posted on the progress of the package as it worked its way to me. I had heard that I.O. was trash but thought that I would buy one since they moved to Florida and supposedly improved their quality. The AK looked good. I liked the larger front grip. My son and I took it to the range after I cleaned it and shot about 150 rounds. No troubles at all--the front grip area gets pretty hot pretty quick. We compared it to my AR and although I think the AR is superior, the AK is pretty awesome too. I would recommend I.O. to others.
Nasty stickers
Review by JJ on 5/21/2015
The firearm looks and functions great, has a sweet smooth trigger and I would have given I.O. 5 stars if they hadn't put stickers on both sides of the rifle stock took some elbow grease, first with alcohol then Goo Gone to get it all off. I would most diffidently would recommend this firearm to friends and family.
Couldn't be more pleased
Review by nightwatch on 5/18/2015
If you want to spend more for an AK go ahead. But you will be throwing your money away! I took a chance on I.O. Inc turning themselves around and I'm glad I did. This rifle is everything I hoped for. NO MAG WOBBLE AT ALL! Wood is beautiful. I have three different mags and all work great. NO malfunctions in the 200 rounds or so that I've put through it.
Great Rifle at a Great Price
Review by Grey98 on 5/16/2015
I was very hesitant to purchase this rifle after hearing about Inter Ordanance's past issues, however I loved the look and price of this rifle and heard they have made major improvements with a new facility. I purchased this rifle along with a Serbian N-Pap. The N-Pap is difficult and somewhat costly to customize, but slightly better quality. This akm247c has not let me down one bit however. I.O. seems to be on track; this rifle looks great, fit and finish is much better than a WASR 10/63, and I've had no mechanical issues after a few hundred rounds. I'm very pleased with this rifle.
Great gun!
Review by Derrick on 5/6/2015
I just picked mine up and I am very pleased with my purchase! The only "problem" i have is one of the lips to close the case is broken so it doesn't stay closed in one spot, But that doesn't bother me. It still holds the rifle. The rifle looks and feels amazing! I was told that my rifle would ship 8-10 business days, but mine shipped in 6. Took two days to receive so it shipped pretty fast. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase. Want to say thanks to everyone at classic firearms, everyone was really nice and helpful. I will do business with you guys in the future.
great gun
Review by kel on 5/5/2015
I received my gun yesterday and I have to say I love it there nothing wrong with it and it just looks great I cant wait to time it to the range. I wanted to say thanks to classic firearms for great service and having great prices on there ak-47 I would do business with them again.
Best AK Trigger PERIOD
Review by AK shooter on 5/4/2015
This is an awesome rifle, especially at the price. It has hands-down the best AK trigger I have ever felt (and I've pulled quite a few). It is a long but butter smooth pull. Plus, the rifle is made in the USA, so besides supporting American manufacturing, you don't have to worry about 922(r) compliance!

The integrated side scope mount is a great feature--it is a pain to try and put optics on a rifle without it.

The rifle is built to original AK specs (minus being full auto), so it does not have a last round bolt hold open. That's fine with me, but might be off-putting for others. However, it is incredibly reliable and pleasure to shoot.

Again, I can't comment enough about how great the trigger is!
IO INC AKM
Review by Alex on 4/16/2015
was hesitant to pick up an IO, saw the black poly one at a local shop and looked straight. I wrote classic to ensure I got a good one. Sights are dead on straight, mag wobble is nearly non existent and rivets look ok. If you look at the product pictures on the listing for the black plastic furniture M247 where it says Made in USA, there's a little gap between the rivet head and receiver, mine has one like this too but still seems solid. Overall I'm pleased with the rifle I purchased and the great service of Classic Arms! I added a surplus grip, sling and mag to mine! Looks wicked awesome!
Better than expected
Review by Charles on 4/10/2015
Ok it took forever to get the gun. No case, upper hand guard doesn't match rest of furniture. Got case today which is better than io case. Took to range witth io mag, tapco mag, and Korean 40 rounder. It was flawless. Love it! Butter smooth. Thanks classic for doing me right!
So far, so good
Review by Tom on 4/3/2015
Picked up my M247-C yesterday from my FFL dealer. First thing he said was it's one of the nicest AK's he's ever seen. That was an instant relief for me as I was a bit nervous about purchasing a weapon from I.O. based on other internet reviews.
The only issue my dealer found was that the lower wood fore grip was scratched up some. Looks like it happened during shipping from Classic, due to one of the mags scrapping against it(we found small wood flakes on a corner of the mag and on the foam of the case). The mags were not wrapped, just loose. I called Classic before taking possession and was told to call I.O. since the rifle has a lifetime warranty.
I spoke with Jim at IO, he said they will send me out a new wood grip, even though it was not a warranty issue.
The weapon itself is very nice. All the rivets are flush and straight and the finish is very nice. I absolutely love the trigger-almost no take-up then a crisp break. I used Goo B Gone to remove the sticker residue from the stock-worked great.
Took 12 days from ordering to delivery-9 days at Classic, 3 days shipping
So far, so good
Review by Tom on 4/2/2015
Picked up my new M247-C from my local FFL dealer today. Took about 12 days from order to delivery, took about 9 days to ship out from Classic and 3 days for UPS.
Right away my dealer said it was one of the nicest AK's he's seen. He did notice that the lower wood fore grip on the bottom was somewhat scratched up. It looks to have happened during shipping caused by the loose, unwrapped AK mags doing the damage(there was small flakes of wood sitting on the foam liner of the case. Before I took possession, I called Classic and they told me to call IO, since there is a lifetime warranty on the weapon they can deal with it. I spoke with Jim at IO, he said it really wasn't a warranty issue, but they would send me out a new fore grip.

As for the rest of the weapon. the wood grips and stock are very nice, the rivets on the receiver all are flush and seated properly. The trigger is awesome-almost zero take-up with a crisp break. Came with 1 black and 1 orange mag(the culpirt of the scratched fore grip)
I honestly was a bit nervous about buying an IO product based on they're earlier reputation, but so far I am extremely pleased with my purchase and my dealers comments about the quality of the weapon. To be clear the scratched wood was caused by Classic and not IO. IO ships there weapons wrapped in brown paper and a plastic bag, nether of which were with my M247.
Great gun
Review by jon on 3/16/2015
I took this gun to the range for the first time and it shot flawlessly no jams and was dead on the fit and finish is very good io needs to check the cleaning equipment though it does not fit the rod on the gun but no big deal also all my oil was spilled out of the tin contaner again no big deal just a heads up. Classic fire arms is a great site to order from as a matter of fact I put them on my home screen on my phone lol if your thinking about getting one its a perfect gun from top to bottom.
good deal

I just received my m247 c yesterday after about 5 days after I orderd it an so far I am vary pleased with the service from classic an of the rifle itself I haven't took it to the range yet but with the way the rifle looks an feels I think this will be a good shooter will post a in debt review of this ak on YouTube as soon as I can thanks classic
A great American made AK
Review by Outlier on 2/5/2015
I picked up my rifle from my FFL yesterday. All in all, a great rifle right out of the case.

Pros -
AMERICAN MADE
Great price point
Overall quality is great
Furniture is REALLY nice!
Functions REALLY well!!
Fit and finish are great!

Cons-
The made in USA sticker... WTH???? on the stock? Sticky residue that the consumer gets to deal with??? Poor choice IO! Use alcohol to remove so you don't mar the finish.
Case had two broken latches right out of the box (who cares about a case anyway)
Plastic mags are junk (as are most plastic AK mags)

My only recommendation on improvement for Classic would be to sell the rifle by itself for $450 and tell IO they can keep their flea market accessories for their next rummage sale.

I definitely recommend the rifle for anyone looking for a quality made AK!
Great deal for the money
Review by khod6595 on 1/20/2015
Lots of good things about this rifle!
Pros:
Beautiful finish on the wood and metal
Advertised to come with 2 plastic mags however when I opened the box there were 3 inside (pleasant surprise!)
Put 100 rounds though mine during its first range session and not a single failure to feed or extract with steel case and brass fmj bullets and factory mags
Zero mag wobble with the supplied plastic mags and very minimal wobble with some surplus metal Bulgarian mags I had on hand
Comes with a metal trigger pin retaining plate and a recoil buffer
The rivets were done perfectly
Very accurate! Mine can shoot about 1.5 to 2 moa with better quality brass case ammo and about 2.5 moa with cheap wolf ammo. Not too shabby for an AK
Iron sights were dead on out of the box
Cons:
The bolt tends to get stuck and be a little rough at a certain point on the slide but if you handle the gun like a man and polish up the internals that shouldn't be an issue. This tends to be an issue in almost all AKs out there though
The gaudy "made in the USA" sticker on the stock left a sticky residue however some isopropyl alcohol took it off without damaging the finish on the wood
I can't seem to get 30 rounds into the plastic mags that came with the gun. I can only get 23 in one, 26 in the second, and 27 in the third mag
Scope rail was slightly pointing down but my scope had enough vertical adjustability to make up for that to sight in at 100 yards

All in all i think IO Inc finally got it together and is putting out a quality product!
Great American Made AK Rifle!
Review by Christopher on 12/8/2014
I bought this rifle a few weeks ago because of the Youtube video that was posted on the Classic Firearms page. I put full faith in them that they sell quality products, since I also bought a Waffen Werks AK-74 from them and it works like a charm. I probably put around 200 rounds through it with three different types of ammo brands (Wolf Military Classic, Wolf Russian Surplus and TulAmmo) and it fired every time with no malfunctions what so ever. The only issue I had was with the plastic magazines that came with it because they started to get chewed up already on the locking lug. I bought some BHO Yugoslavian metal surplus magazines before hand and those worked excellent in holding the bolt open after the magazine was empty and even worked very well with the safety selector in being able to lock the bolt open. Great rifle for an American made Polish AK-47.
would be five stars but....
Review by bibic682 on 11/10/2014
I purchased this rifle a few weeks ago. It came with 2 black I.O.mags and a cleaning kit. The wood stock set is very nice except for the "made in USA" sticker on the butt stock, Taking it off required refinishing the stock. The bolt and carrier ride very tightly over the hammer when charging a round into the chamber. Iwas told that is normal for the tapco trigger group being used. Took it to the range and fired about 80 to 100 rounds.Between the 2 I.O.mags and 2 metal surplus mags ,I had about 6 to 8 rounds jam on the way into the chamber. Hoping that is a mag problem and not the rifle. Most rounds were tightly grouped about 4 inches to the left and low. I did not have a sight adjustment too; with me , so I changed my point of aim and hit the ceneter consistantly making one big hole in the center. I did adjust the sight pin when I got home waiting to try it again. I purchased some tapco plastic mags and was able to hand cycle each round without any catching on the way to the chamber. I hope these solve the feed issue. Overall I loved the way it looks and the way it shoots and it also appears to be very accurate. at least at 25 yds. If there was not any feed issues on my first trip to the range I would have easily given this 5 stars
super nice for the price
Review by bibic682 on 11/7/2014
I had purchased this rifle in early october, had a may of 2014 inspection sticker on it. It came with cleaning kit, 2 black mags and a hard carry case. The wood is nice although the "MADE IN USA" sticker on the butt stock did not remove easily and left residue which forced me to refinish it. I took it to the range and fired about 80 to 100 rounds using the io mags that came with it and some surplus metal mags. I had about 6- 8 jams where the bullet nose caught before it could make it into the chamber. I am hoping this is just a mag issue and not the rifle itself. I bought some tapco mags and hand feeding them was ok 100%. At 25 yds. the rifle shot low to the left by 4 to 5 inches but were all tightly grouped at 25 yds. Could have been me trying to shoot with eargear on at the range. I did adjust the sight pin over some when I got home, as I did not have my site tool with me. I hope that corrects that issue. That being said I made a few more shots just putting my aim over a little and they all landed near the center nearly punching out a big hole in the target. The bolt and carrier are very tight hand cycling the rifle, but I hear that is normal with the tapco trigger group that is being used. That did not result in any cycling issues while firing. The fit and finish is very good and overall so far I am liking this rifle despite the bad reviews I have read. Mostly those are on older rifles made before I.O.moved to Florida.I would have given this rifle five stars had there not been any feed issues when firing.Keeping my fingers crossed on that one.
Great features, but........
Review by Big John Georgia on 9/11/2014
This rifle comes with some outstanding features, including a couple that are not mentioned in the description. It comes with a retaining plate in the reciever to replace that finicky trigger pin holder. The bottom foregrip wood is also augmented and bulged out, i'm assuming to help mitigate the heat radiation from the barrel when shooting. It grips nicely, too! Both of these features were an unexpected, pleasant surprise!
As mentioned in the description, it comes with an extended mag release, and these are NICE. Recoil buffer already installed upon arrival, wood is very nice, scope rail looks good.
Now for the operational parts; Reciever cover fits great! No loose wobble or rattling. It has the bolt hold-open feature, which is an awesome addition. However, the thickness of the recoil buffer interferes with the hold-open feature. The bolt carrier will not recede back FAR enough to catch. I suspect the recoil buffer face needs to be ground down just a tad to give the bolt carrier the clearance to catch on the safety indent. Quite self-fixable.
Trigger feels good, internal guts are all brand new parts, mag well was carefully cut, and mags fit appropriately right out of the box, no mag grinding or fitting needed. The reciever is dimpled as well to facilitate a nice mag fit. Front sight appears dead on and the sighting block is straight.
Now, for all of the stellar features this gun comes with, and there are many, I gave it a 3 star rating. Reason; The front end of this rifle was probably assembled at 4:45 pm on a Friday, and the front end jockey was anxious to start his weekend. That lever that holds the gas tube in place just flops around. The gas tube stays secure, but that latch just flutters around.
The second front end problem is that lower forearm securing bracket, Loose, and rattles around, won't lock up tight. Thus, the lower handguard slides back and forth loosely, at least 2 millimeters worth of movement. And then the cleaning rod will NOT come out. It is hung up on something inside, and it just spins around, but will not come out.
If not for those front end problems, this rifle would be the best deal of the Century purely for the extra features ALONE. But i will contact Classic tomorrow for a rifle exchange. Those loose levers are not acceptable, and I want the cleaning rod to function properly.
I hate returning something that i'm DYING to shoot, but I do not want to put any unwarranted mileage on the rifle.
My verdict? BUY it! This rifle is feature-rich, and a lot of bang for the buck. Just check out those issues upon recieving the rifle and ensure those latches are solid.
IO Wood Sporter
Review by mn9130sc on 2/8/2014
This product was not actually in stock, even though website said it was, which caused delay in delivery. Even though I have had very good experiences with Classic in the past they were not forthcoming about this "not actually in stock" issue and I did not find out the real reason for the delay until I made multiple calls.
Rifle arrived as stated in add. Fit and finish appear to be very nice. Magazines with rifle would not fit without some minor filing/fitting. Additional poly mags I purchased also had to be fitted. I have not tried metal mags yet.
Had several jams in first 40 rounds or so, but none in subsequent 80 rounds. Acuracy may not quite be as advertised, but very good for an AK.
Overall a really nice American Made AK. I just wish I had been told up front that they did not really have my rifle in stock and there would be a delay of about a week.
Don't buy
Review by Chris on 1/14/2014
Don't buy! I had a horrible experience with I.O and there sporter ak's. I had to send it back for repair twice! So far. Didn't even put 300 rounds in on both of them either. They both had the same problem with the rear trunion coming out. You could see the rivets tearing into the receiver. The two times I sent them they sent me back new rifles. But I'm not even going to bother shooting the third rifle I'm just going to sell it. Don't make the same mistake!
