After a light wipe down and lube, I fired four magazines through the M57 with zero issues. The empty cases flew ten feet to my right rear. Strong design, well made. If you're a decent shot, four inch groups at 25 yards are easy.
The sights are a bit hard to acquire, and the natural point of aim is low. Still, the factory grips fit, and felt fine. It's "Browning 03" type assembly makes cleaning familiar and easy.
The value on this pistol exceeded my expectations.
Buy this. Enjoy it. You can't do much better.
Nice for the money

I found the weapon nice for a new pistol. Of course, you need to break it in carefully and slowly. However, the fit, finish and functioning seem flawless. I will probably switch out the civilian Toggle Hammer for a real Russian or Romanian Tok hammer to gain the half cock which does not exist in non-military models. Ah well. Small price to pay.
You must add one to your collection!

Wonderful results from an upgraded older design back into brand-new production! - Completely reliable right out of the box with FMJ rounds, and also shoots JHP without issue after a very small break-in period of only about 50 FMJ rounds. - Now one of my favorite pistols that I even enjoy carrying for defense now that I've seen splendid performance using Wolf Gold JHP defense rounds.

An Underrated but Powerful, Easy to Handle Pistol
Review by Cyrano on 11/11/13
Quality
This is an improved version of the TT-33, with one extra round in the magazine and a built-in, not added-on, slide-locking safety. The controls of the Model 57 are identical to those of the M1911; no slide mounted decocker, no back-asswards European-style safety. And above all, no kludge-safeties installed solely to comply with BATFE import regulations and interfere with a proper grip.

The sights are the best government issue pistol sights I've ever seen. The can be made even better by outlining the notch with sight paint and painting the rear of the front sights. The Tok has a loud bark, but no bite in the hand; felt recoil is soft and muzzle jump is minimal. The frame is thin, perfect for people with smaller hands and, for that matter, for concealment.

And that doesn't take into account this great virtue of the Tokarev cartridge: it delivers more energy on target than a 9mm Luger. In fact, 7.62 Tok still ranks in the top five pistol rounds worldwide in terms of bullet speed!

Most of the ammunition in 7.62x25 Tok that is on the market is full metal jacket; but manufacturers are starting to make jacketed hollowpoint rounds as well; or you can buy a kit online that will let you turn your milsurp FMJs into JHPs yourself.

If you are looking for a fun plinker, a home defense gun, or a good concealed-carry gun, the Model 57 Tokarev is well worth considering. It's a personal favorite of mine. I think will be one of yours as well.
Excellent Gun and Service
Review by keith on 10/12/13

This is a well made gun and is fun to shoot and works well as a carry gun. My experience with this gun has been one of nothing but good things to say. I purchased this gun used and had a problem recently with the gun, I contacted the importer Century Arms and they IMMEDIATELY got back with me and fixed the problem. I can say nothing but good things about this gun and the customer service is nothing but excellent. If you want a well made all steel gun that will last, that is easy to break down and clean, works well for concealed use, and can be purchased on almost any budget AND has great customer service behind it then this is the gun to buy. The service I received sold me on purchasing the 9mm version of this gun.
Two are better than one

I liked this pistol so much that i now have two of them. Each came with two mags,i also bought two spares, for a total of six.I use one M57 as a carry gun, loaded with Wolf Hollowpoints. I carry four mags with Wolf/PPU FMJs in a mag pouch on the belt. This has all but replaced my carrying of my Glocks, XDs,M&P,Sig 250,CZP07,Jericho or any other former carry guns. The 7.62X25 has ME approaching the 357 mag but it has more penetration. These pistols are kind of like a 1911,but slimmer and more powerful.Buy one,or two and don't forget spare mags. I was very happy with the gun but it kind of threw me with the full length guide rod. That is very hard to get in and out. I also bought a couple of extra mags and one had a feed problem but after breaking in it works fine.

Wasn't sure what to expect with this pistol but had previously purchased a Zastava M92 and been very happy with the quality and function. The M57 arrived just as advertised and fits very nice in the hand. Only been to the range once and it performed well although when using the iron sights it seems to shoot rather low. I ordered a laser and light combo unit for it and am looking forward to zeroing in the laser on my next range visit. Overall I am extremely pleased and I can still find ammo for it from our local gun store.

My first impression when I opened up the box at my ffl store, was WOW! I never thought I would ever see a brand new m57 tokarev new in the box again since the early 90s. It was stamped M57 Zastava Serbia. I LOVE IT. Ive only seen surplus 1950s ones in cosmoline without the factory safety which I love on this gun! Also its important to note another safety feature on this gun is that it wont fire without the magazine in the gun so if there is one in the hole and someone forgets to check its a tad safer. The finish was perfect and new, the machined edges were a little sharp but it was nice to see all those newly made parts and barrell bright and new. Another plus is the 9 round magazines, it came with two!,,which most of the surplus ones dont have. I secured a tin of the surplus hotter military rounds so Im set for now, but I hope Classic, can find some of that stuff at a reasonable price we all want some more of it. : )// I would deffinitely buy one again its exactly what I hoped it would be! great job guys!

I had been looking into getting a mil-surp M57 before finding NEW production M57s on classicfirearms.com. All in all, a very good, well built, and powerful hand gun. Came with 2 mags as stated, one worked fine out of the box, the other had a follower that was a bit bent but was an easy fix. Took it too my local range and put 200 rounds through it without any problems at all, flawless performance. The only problem I had was when I picked up my package from my ffl holder. Somehow, an additional mag that I ordered at the same time as the firearm never showed up. A bit disappointing, but not a big deal since my ffl assumed responsibility and reimbursed me for my loss. At any rate, these NEW production M57s are a great deal for 300$. I will be making my next online firearm purchase from ClassicFireArms.

Thanks for a great product, guys !

Nicely finished and fitted pistol. For me, it was a no brainer to get this factory new Zastava M57 with a factory slide mounted safety allowing cocked and locked carry. The Tokarev round is a great round and I think it is awesome that we can now have a new production Tokarev pistol to shoot it in. Get one while you can.

The M57 has up to date safety features. It has a hammerblock safety,a manual safety and a magazine safety. My M57 was manufactured 11-12.Any lettering, such as model # and company are very neatly done.I like it as much as a GI 45 1911.The 7.62X25 is more dangerous to a badguy than the 45ACP.Why? The 7.62 will not be stopped by cover that would stop a 45ACP.The M57 is an underrated combat weapon and if you can,you must get an AK as a companion piece.Nice gun.Get some Wolf 85gr Gold performance ammo for your M57.I loved trading a mere 300 bucks for this pistol,it's a steal.A GI 45 will cost 500+. I purchased a new Serbian made m57 pistol in 762x25 from Classic arms.I had been looking at the very good condition used ones when these came on their website. The gun is brand new as advertised with two magazines. It has a slide mounted hammer block safety and is very easy to field strip. I took it out to my shooting range this week and it shot very nice groups at twenty five yards. This nice pistol will fit in well with my semi auto pps43c and my CZ vz52 which are also chambered for the 762x25 tokarev.I could not be more satified with the service from Classic Arms.

I own a Polish TT 7.62X25 Tokarev,it was surplus but it' exterior was excellent. Nothing beats a NEW gun,so,even though i was pleased with the first purchase i had to buy a NEW one, with 2 NEW magazines.Spend the extra money and buy a new vestbuster pistol. It only costs as much as a useless Ruger LCP!!!!!!!! Go for it,i don't see how anyone could lose on this deal.
