This BCG Is Phosphate coated and is manufactured as a full auto bolt carrier.  All full auto bolt carriers will operate as a semi-auto bolt carrier in a semi-automatic rifle. The full auto design is vastly more popular even in semi-auto firearms due to the smoothness of the cycling operation and the ruggedness of construction. Basically it works better and last longer. Does not change the designation of the rifle.  

Exceptions - Even though Auto Sears are not used in modern AR-15 rifles, these BCG's may not function properly in Pre-Ban AR-15 rifles, based on the early M16 rifles, but containing an Auto Sear Block.
