The Cold Steel CS-95FB, also known as the Pocket Bushman, was designed with the main objective of being a sturdy and reliable folding knife for outdoor and utility tasks. Its small size makes it convenient to carry in a pocket or pack, yet its robust design ensures its effectiveness in emergency survival situations. It's long and wide with a practical and versatile sharp clip-point.
For the Bushman's handle, the mono-block construction was adopted, a technique made famous by the classic French Douk Douk. The knife avoids using liners, handle scales, or back spacers in its design. Instead, it employs a single sheet of stainless steel, which is folded in half to create a case for the closed blade, whilst ensuring considerable strength and rigidity. This is needed to complement our state-of-the-art Ram Safe lock.
In the design of the Pocket Bushman, the Ram Safe lock works together with the mono-block handle. The lock features a solid steel bar that moves back and forth under spring tension while a strong compression always pushes the ram forward. This mechanism ensures the blade remains securely closed when folded and solidly locked when in use. Upon opening, the tilting ram fits in between the blade tang shelf and the steel frame. This locks the blade strongly and self-adjusts under pressure thereby creating a durable lock system that resists wear and tear.
