Reluctant, but overall good.

Got it from the "other guys" then saw it back in stock here at a lower price too. THis 870 clone is slightly heavier and very reliable. I was reluctant on getting a Chinese clone of the 870, but too many good reviews let me know this was a solid workhorse. It really is a heavy 870 and I am a sucker for ghost sights. For the price could not resist and like the 870.. easy maintenance. Ate the target loads I put through it in the video without any issues, takes aftermarket crap for 870, but I thin I will leave it be. need a 5 + 1 that is reliable... can't go wrong with. It did, however, come with commie-cosmo and some debris, clean it good prior to range time.

Can this be purchased and sent to ffl in California. Don't want to buy if the ffl can't release it to me.
I'd give it ten stars if I could
Review by Mike R. on 3/5/16

Great shotgun, couple hundred rounds through it buckshot , slugs , buck n ball, birdshot, 2 3/4" and 3's, no problems whatsoever slick as any other pump I've shot. Switched out the screws on the sights and added a little Locktite before I shot it ,didn't want any trouble. Initial cleaning was a little intense for a new Shotgun but it wasn't to bad and for the price who cares. Love the stocks can't find any reason to upgrade ( which I fully intended to) I think it's perfect the way it is. I buy 2 or 3 guns a month and the only firearm I can compare bang for the buck is the star super b Classic's selling and it's a distant 2nd.

I placed an order for this Hawk 12ga on 2/19/16 and was opening the box in my living room on 2/23/16 ! As usual Classic Firearms didn't let me down. I was very pleased with how solid this Shotgun feels. I've had an 870 express for years and I dare say this Hawk feels more solid, almost like you could use it to chop wood ! I purchased this one for my dad but after getting my hands on I'm definetly going to be ordering one for myself. At less than $200 it's pretty much a "No Brainer". I don't know about other Chinese firearms, but it sure seems like they know how to built a helluva Shotgun. Thanks classic !! Time to sit back a wait to receive my new Xena CFA AR15 I ordered from them the other day.

I was a bit skeptical at first, but I'm glad I decided to get one. Solidly built, and at a great price to boot! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this shotgun to anyone. Smooth action, solid lock up, and the compatibility with most 870 parts is a big plus.

TANK!
Review by AM on 1/29/16
Quality
Yes its made in China. Compared to the US made 870 express model this thing is much more solid. Its a tank which helps dampens down the recoil. I have 6 or so boxes of shells trough it from target loads to buckshot and a few slugs and it slings lead down range with quite impressive accuracy. I have not messed with the sights at all and it hits what you point it at. I never used ghost ring sights in a shotgun but I am liking them. Did some clay shooting with it and it tears those up as well even with ghost ring sights. For under 200 bucks shipped and transferred it is really amazing. Oh and I can forget to mention that IAC has the best customer service that I have ever dealt with period! I emailed them asking why it had a polymer trigger group because the reviews I have read describe it having a steel trigger group. They informed me they switched to the polymer to cut down cost and weight of the firearm and they sent me a steel trigger group along with replacement 18 inch barrel should i ever need to change out parts. That's awesome! I am very pleased with this gun and IAC kicks ass! If you are looking for a shorter barreled 12 gauge this is a really good gun. Check one out. seriously!
I took to a out door range and had fun shooting it , I shot 60 rounds of 2 3/4 12 Gauge To break it in and it performed real good for the price I'm satisfied with it.Thank Classic

An excellent value in a 12 gauge shotgun
Review by Curtis on 1/5/16

Looking over this shotgun after I received it, it appeared to be "ready to go", but I was wrong. I stuffed two A-Zoom snap caps into the magazine tube and after releasing the bolt catch, tried to eject the shells. The shotgun would not eject the snap caps.It just pulled them out of the receiver and they lay in there without being ejected Hmmm... Uh-oh, I thought. I may have to send this back. But then I thought to take the barrel off and examine the gun closely. The ejector appeared to be riveted in place correctly, everything looked alright. So I put it back together and screwed the magazine cap on really tight. Loaded the snap caps again and it ejected them with gusto! So the magazine cap was not screwed on all the way. Ah well, my bad. It is too cold to go to the range and test it out with ammo, but will do so soon. Overall, this shotgun appears to be well made and it certainly was well packed and coated with cosmoline. The ghost ring sights are very nice and make the shotgun that much more of a deal considering how much more you would pay for the American made version of this shotgun with those sights installed.
Reliable shotgun
Review by Matt on 12/10/15

I purchased the Hawk 982 from Classic Firearms. The gun is heavy, but it works. It is difficult to load shells into the magazine. You have to push the shells in with your thumb pretty hard to get them in. If anyone is having problems with loading, just push the shell in firmly with your thumb and it should load. I put a light on mine and it's next to my bed. Thanks Classic.
Price and Value Leader in the Pump Shotgun Market

All aspects of the Hawk 982 have either met or exceeded my expectations. The quality of craftsmanship, production materials, and inherent durability of the weapon enhance pride of ownership well beyond its attractive price point. In conjunction with Classic Firearms outstanding customer service, my cumulative experience with the Hawk 982 has been excellent and I highly recommend both this product and Classic Firearms.
Excellent shotgun for great price
Review by Bill on 10/24/15
Quality
Buy this shotgun, for $189 you absolutely cannot go wrong.

I cannot say enough good things about this shotgun. Credible reviewers out there will tell you it is better than the Remington 870. I was initially skeptical, but the reviewers are correct. I think the Hawk is better made than the 870, and at half the price. Even more than half, when you consider the fact that it comes with ghost ring sights. You can't find a Mossberg or Remington with ghost ring sights for less than $500.

I have taken the Hawk to multiple trips to the range, and it ate everything I put through it, from birdshot, to slugs, to buckshot, to PDX home defense rounds, without a hickup. No break in period needed. The ghost ring sights (which I am a big fan of) were dead on accurate out of the box at 25 yards.

The Hawk is such a solid shotgun that I seriously considered making it my home defense firearm. I ultimately opted for my Bushmaster AR solely due to ease of quick loading of magazine; I live in NJ and keeping a loaded firearm in reach of kids is against the law... But the Hawk 982 will go in my bedroom closet gun cabinet as a backup.
Left shell latch wasn't staked in
Review by Ken on 8/29/15
Quality
I took the gun apart to degrease it. When I removed the trigger group, the left shell latch fell out.

Off to the local gunsmith to have it staked properly. I bought a new shell latch just to avoid any other unforeseen issues. I got the latch from a Remington parts dealer, since they are identical.

Hi Ken - We apologize you had an issue with your left shell latch. This is the first time we've had anyone report any issues with this shotgun and thus I think you received an anomaly. Let us know if we need to assist in any way as the gun is under warranty.

Excellent Shotgun, Replaced 2 Remington 870's
Review by TRofWA on 6/23/15

I didn't get mine from Classic Firearms, but I will review mine. I had 2 Remington 870's, that this replaced. It is simply a better shotgun. I added a Speedfeed stock and Hogue forend, and side saddle.

I have used it for skeet, and turkey, along with a tactical course. It has excelled in each.

It is in my honest opinion better built then the Remington, and especially the latest Remingtons coming out now at half the price!
Right now , one of the best deals out there !

I was actually looking around the internet for a replacement barrel for one of my Remington 870's , when I caught a review for this shotgun . I had seen them on Classic Firearms website and decided to check them out . Classic's prices were quite a bit better than any one else so for the price I ordered two of them . I really appreciated the email updates right up to the time of delivery .
I finally got to test them out this weekend with every shell in my inventory , from buckshot to low brass target loads . Function was perfect with everything tested .
The only reason I did not give the guns five stars is one of the barrels has a slight bend to the right . This showed up on pattern testing with buckshot loads . I was not able to move the rear ghost ring sight as it appears to have been loctited . The screws are somewhat soft , so I am going to have to think about this awhile . Patterns were still acceptably centered even at 25 yards .

I can't say enough about this gun! It eats whatever you feed it and is suprisingly accurate out to 50 yards (furthest I've shot it) I put a Blackhawk talon recoil reducing stock on it and now it's a tame little beast. The sights are great, easy to aquire your target. I love that it is compatible with pretty much all 870 accessorise.
