Egyptian Hakim Semi-Auto Rifle, 8mm Mauser Caliber W / 10 Round Detachable Box Magazine - Surplus Turn In Condition - C & R Eligible For years this unique Semi-Auto 8MM rifle was considered the pride of the Egyptian military and the middle eastern equivalent of our M1A or M14 rifle. These rifles came to us from an Arms Storage Depot in an African country and we are really proud to have found them. Rare and extremely collectible. See the extended description for full details.
Note - All of the remaining Hakim rifles in our inventory are missing the pin for the mag latch extension. The mag latch lever is still functional and the mags lock and release properly, but the extension lever will not lock without a replacement pin. We have discounted these rifles by $100.00 due to this minor missing part and are selling the remaining inventory as is.
What an amazing find. Back in the 1980s, these rifles were a little more available and you could occasionally find a Hakim rifle at a gun show.... Even then they were highly sought after due to their unique design and military collectibility. Due to their relatively small production numbers Hakim rifles quickly dried up and this is the first small lot of rifles I have seen come available in at least 25 years. The Egyptian Hakim is a Semi-Auto Rifle in 8mm Mauser Caliber with a 10 Round Detachable Box Magazine. They incorporate a unique muzzle brake that was ahead of its time in design. The brake serves to help tame the recoil and muzzle climb as well as giving the rifle a unique sound when it fires. In fact this rifle roars like a lion. The Hakim was known as the Egyptian equivalent of our M1 Garand but actually had more similarity to the M1A in that is is fed by a detachable box magazine. The semi-automatic function of the rifle is produced by a unique direct impingement system whereby the flow of gas impacts directly on the front face of the bolt carrier, propelling it to the rear, which unlocks and moves the bolt as it does so. Their were only a total of 70,000 of these rifles ever produced and far less ever made it to the civilian market after having seen service in numerous theaters of battle. Without exaggeration, the Hakim rifle is one of my favorite battle rifles of all time and we are exceptionally proud to be able to offer this small lot to the marketplace. Regarding the condition: These guns are surplus in original turn in condition and have been stored in a military arms depot in an African country for a number of years. They have seen action with their original issue forces, and in all probability, other guerrilla forces in hot spots all over the world. As such, you can expect to see the typical nicks, dings, minor stock cracks, and bluing wear that is standard to surplus. In addition, they were used and carried in very dry desert conditions and as such the stocks had a tendency to dry out causing small cracks and fissures to develop in the stocks. This is common to the Hakim and other wood stock middle eastern-based firearms. Having said that... we looked these rifles over closely. Compared to Hakim rifles I've seen in the past, I would say the rifles in this batch are overall actually some of the nicer ones I have ever seen. Don't get me wrong. They are surplus and will be somewhat rugged... and I would expect some cracks in the stocks. But all stocks are complete and none of the cracks will be function impairing. Also, all rifles are guaranteed to function. As an overall grade, and have seen tons of surplus to compare it to, I feel very comfortable calling these NRA Surplus Good. However, if you are expecting a shiny new rifle looking like it just came off the production line do not buy this rifle. It is not the gun for you. However, if you are a serious surplus collector, who has an appreciation for these types of firearms..... Do not miss this. Unfortunately, this is a very small lot and we expect the demand to far exceed the supply. C & R Eligible.Note - All of the remaining Hakim rifles in our inventory are missing the pin for the mag latch extension. The mag latch lever is still functional and the mags lock and release properly, but the extension lever will not lock without a replacement pin.
