The Weatherby VFP308NR6B is a high-quality rifle developed with the expertise of Roy Weatherby and Japanese manufacturer Howa in the 1960s. Designed to accommodate Weatherby's distinctive magnum cartridges, the Vanguard project was an effort to create a more cost-effective firearm. The rifle boasts a Howa two-lug push-feed action and several of Weatherby's signature safety features. This includes a fully shrouded bolt and three gas ports on the bolt body to provide protection in case of ammunition failure.
The gun utilizes a hammer forged barrel to increase accuracy and durability beyond what was regularly found in mass-produced cut-rifled barrels. Incorporating an M-16 style extractor, the Vanguard ensures consistent and reliable cartridge extraction. Its fluted bolt body, resembling the Mark V design, ensures smooth operation even in dusty and dirty hunting environments. The end-product is a well-functioning, push-feed rifle capable of managing Weatherby Magnums at a price within the reach of most American gun enthusiasts.
The contemporary Vanguard comes with a Sub-MOA accuracy guarantee and is equipped with a sharp two-stage trigger. These features make the rifle feel like an unbeatable value in today's market. A Monte Carlo stock is employed for lightweight durability, with a one-piece forged and machined receiver integrated with a recoil lug for maximum strength and structural integrity. The firearm also features a one-piece trigger guard with a hinged floorplate for easy access to unfired cartridges in the magazine.
Additionally, the Vanguard rifle comes with a specially fitted, low-density recoil pad made from technologically advanced material. This reduces felt recoil substantially, making shooting more comfortable. The gun's three-position safety feature allows the shooter to work the action while the safety is still engaged. The Vanguard First Lite is designed with a Monte Carlo design including a right-side palm swell and textured forearm and grip areas. It is outfitted with First Lite Specter camo, a unique combination of crackalature shapes and colors devised through nature-based algorithms for macro and micro disruption.
