I really doubt this review will get posted. But here goes, yes I agree you must hand fit these mags to your SKS, mine is a Russian made. But here is the reason I do not recommend you purchasing them, and not from just here as I have started looking at other places and have found the same problem. There is NO slide stop at the top to actuate your bolt lock, with out the bolt locked back you can not insert a new mag, yes it will stop the bolt when empty, but when you release the mag your bolt will slam shut which will prevent you from putting in the next mag without either pulling the bolt back and holding it or sticking your finger inside and sliding the lock up. Now I'm not blaming Classic for this, just pointing out the problem, I have a 30 rd mag with the stop built in, but here's the problem, I even looked up the company that made that mag and from the pic's, they look like they don't have the stops on there's anymore either, must be a design flaw. The only way you can get these mags to work is to do grind work to the bolt on the gun itself. I have added the youtube link to show you how to do this, as I'm going to have to just to make these mags work.

I bought this along with a Yugo SKS rifle last week. I'd like to think I'm a pretty handy person, built multiple guns, wood worker, etc. but even after filing things down and getting the magazine to the latch, it won't feed. I ended up buying a tapco and it dropped right in without issue. There is a reason they don't allow returns for this item; it just simply doesn't work consistently. You can blame it on something I did but you can't hide the fact that another product, the tapco, dropped in without issue.

Not for the Yugo SKS, . . unless . . .

I bought the Yugo SKS and a couple of these steel mags hoping I could convert the 10 round mag to 30 rounds. The caveat in using these mags as stated here says something to the effect that these may not work for the Yugo and/or may require a little gunsmithing. So don't buy them if you are not gunsmithing inclined. PAY ATTENTION TO THIS CAVEAT!! After watching the Youtube video that shows how easy it is to convert an SKS using the steel mags, I tried the ones I bought and could not make them fit. Tried doing a bit of filing here and there where it looked like they were rubbing. One of them I ruined from trying to force it. The other has been filed in several places to no avail. It is close, but still will not lock down.

So, if you don't all together know what you are doing and are not experienced at gunsmithing, I would definitely not recommend that you buy these for the Yugo. I have two $50 paper weights now.

Better off getting a Tapco

First off, FAST shipping, very well packaged magazines. I bought two. Love Classic. To be honest, I would always purchase from Classic even if it cost me a few bucks more (but most of the time it's less) than other retailers. I bought a Type 56 SKS from Classic (LOVE this rifle...) I have been using a Tapco 20 rd magazine which fits PERFECTLY. NO issues whatsoever. I wanted to try a 30 rd magazine, and I heard that metal magazines work better, so I figured 'what the heck' - I bought two of these. These are very nice and sturdy magazines. As stated, some sanding and re-shaping of the wood has to be done. Still doesn't fit as securely as a Tapco. I'm on the edge of getting a Tapco Intrafuse T6 stock for my SKS, and may even buy another one. I think if you're willing to do some work these magazines may be worth it. Classic has NEVER let me down. Sorry this isn't the best review but I'm being honest.

As they tell you here, they may and will take some work to fit. Do NOT file on the barrel lug at the front!!!! Work only with the magazine. It will fit and will work. Promise.

I decided to take a chance on this for my Sino Soviets SKS I had purchased from Classic. Don't expect it to fit or just "pop" in. You will need a dremel, safety goggles, and a bit for wood carving, and I also used the dremel chain saw bit as well for metal. Take your SKS apart. The mag will probably bind on just one side of the stock where a protrusion extends outwards on the mag wall. You will need to "lightly" clear this excess wood, as needed, on the inside wall of the stock where the mag well fits. Put your trigger assemble back on the receiver without the stock on it. This will allow you to slowly take down the metal until it fits. You will need to take down some metal on the front and back of the duck bill. When you get it to seat properly, your done with that part. The surprise is when you reassemble the parts and your bolt will not close because of the "wings" on top of the duckbill follower will need to be significantly filed back. You can look at your 10 round mag well and see the significant difference between the "wing" length of the two. If not for this one issue, the mag would be a relative snap to put in. I blued the areas I filed and it did finally fit. I passed the Classic Challenge in this write up!
