ex-sniper turn in condition perfect as is! shooting out of box at rifle range.
Review by suepage on 3/26/2016
As exciting as it was to wonder what would be sent to me as an "original turn-in condition" ex-sniper that was not hand-selected, I was also nervous. It was a special gift, and I had never before purchased anything of the sort. The description prepared me for all sorts of scenarios, including days of cleaning cosmoline before even shooting it. But what we got was a clean, clean, clean gun that is mechanically perfect. We cleaned it (unnecessarily), inspected it (it earned an awesome), and promptly shot 120 rounds through it at our favorite rifle range. We may or may not refinish it. It is stunning just the way it is.

My 91/30
Review by Chris on 10/20/2015
This is my mosin nagant 91/30 that I bought about a year and a half ago. Since picking up this rifle I have added a scope and scout mount. Shoots really nice with this combination. Classic Firearms really delivered on this rifle. It is beautiful. The service from the folks at Classic Firearms is really First Class. They are always my first stop when I want to add to my collection. Get one of these while you can!!!
Mini Crate Purchase
Review by Slim on 9/15/2015
Purchase 3 crates of 6 91/30 riffles. Riffles were all turn-in quality. No had been refurbished. all 18 were mummy wrapped. Bluing overall look very good. the barrels I checked look good. Lost of cosmoline. Most parts matching, with a few miss matched ones. Came with bayonets wrapped in with rifles, but unfortunately the bayonets are not individual wrapped, so they are rubbing up against the stock. Of the 5 bayonets I checked, only one had a matching serial number. the oldest was a 1931 Izhevsk hex receiver. Only two hexes, one Izhevsk, and one Tula. 8 of the rifles were hexes.
5 Stars

Purchased Tula Round with Matching Bayonet, but not hand selected. Rifle looks great. Could easily have sold as a hand selected rifle. Bluing looks great and stock has only very minor dings, with no cracks or breaks.

Everyone should own at least two of these rifles.
This was a fun and educational purchase that just happend to come with some fine fully functional combat rifles
Review by Robert on 7/7/2013
I have purchased six Mosin Nagant rifles and I am pleased with all of them. I have posted pictures and video in the review section. all of my weapons were matching. I have put about 260 rounds down range between all six rifles...two of the 9130's could use a scope, as they were far more accurate than I expected...the other four I would put up against any modern military rifle that I have used with open sights..... I refinished the two shooters (pictured) and I am working on the others. This was just a fun purchase for me...I own a few other rifles (all new) but these rifles are beast....and they deliver a big round for cheap!
Really nice rifle.
Review by Ray C on 5/1/2013
These are nice rifles. I purchased one of the crates of twenty and all of them were in good condition, there were some minor flaws but nothing that hampered their operation. I also picked up some of the surplus ammo and really like the stuff as well, though I get tired of cleaning the rifles afterwards. Great job Classic.

Nice Hex receiver Mosin
Review by Paul on 4/24/2013
I have been wanting a hex receiver Mosin, as the quality of prewar Mosins were very nice and finished. Shoots very accurate, barrel was nice and shiny.
Nothing like a pack of guns
Review by Lee on 4/24/2013
I got a 5 pack and while I did not get anything special I did get 5 fully functional and mechanically sound rifles, I'm very satisfied and happy with them. Honestly the feeling of getting a pack of guns is pretty damn good, opening them all up and looking them over is great fun.

Another Great Deal !
Review by Dana on 10/7/2012
Classic Firerarms has done it again ! Mine is a 1942 Izhevsk round receiver model. Bore looks strong without having removed cosmoline. Fast & reasonable shipping to my FFL. Rougher war time production methods are obvious, but this does not detract from this rifle one bit. At $99.99 I strongly suggest you get yourself one. This is my second purchase from Classic Firearms and they pleased me again. Thank you & God Bless.
Excellent, historic weapon that won the Battle of Stalingrad

Great Gun! Mine is a 1938 Tula round receiver. I went the hand pick and it was well worth it! Fun and cheap to shoot. There's a short youtube review of me shooting it. Get one!
These rifles are pretty ruff
Review by steven on 2/23/2017
These are true turn in condition rifles. I was fortunate enough to get an Ex-sniper rifle. It was so rough, my FFL dealer, actually called me. He has never done that before. I knew that the rifle would be in rough shape, so I didn't have a problem with that. The stock was really beat up, but the bluing, was exceptional. I'm refinishing the stock. I don't think that I will need to refinish the metal parts. Kinda ugly, but I love it. If you don't want to refinish a rifle, these are not for you. I personally think that they are great rifles, that just need some love. Thanks everyone at Classic Firearms, keep bringing me collectable guns. I love it. :-)

91/30 turn in condition review
Review by Krupp43 on 2/10/2017
bought a turn in condition standard expecting the usual for a turn in rifle, I see a a lot of refurb milsurps, but I prefer that been there done that look. When I first saw the rifle I was confused by the stock repairs and welded in hole marks on side, with further examination I realized its a 1943 Izhevsk that was an ex sniper( pu mount). It was Import mark early 90's as described, barely noticeable, compared to centurys typical modern big billboard ones. Now cosmoline is a bit heavy with these under the wood, which is fine in my opinion because once it was degreased showed a mirror bore and preserved it well. I think these warhorses have character and probably seen things that make it hard to believe it survived in any shape. A piece of history for $200, how can you go wrong?, my only regret is not buying more.
Exactly What I Pictured
Review by Juston on 1/4/2017
I wanted a Mosin with a bit of the been there, done that look, but I also wanted it to be in good condition and not too beat up. The rifle I received delivered. The action is the smoothest out of the 4 Mosin 91/30's that I have. I'm not as afraid to take this one out, as I am with some of my arsenal refurnished or laminated stock ones. This one shoots every bit as well as the others and is in pretty good shape. It's my go to Mosin.
The turn in condition makes it seem more like a piece of history to me.
Great gun
Review by Nicolaus on 6/20/2016
So I finally got a chance to take this gun to the range. First impression of the gun when I picked it up was wow it's got a good amount of wear which is exactly what I wanted. I got a 1943 Tula round receiver. I cleaned the gun in hot water to get the cosmoline off and some of the rust on the bolt. It cleaned up very nicely. The stock was either arsenal refinished or replaced with one that is. The bolt was replaced too since the numbers are different. The rest of the gun in matching. I'm overly impressed with the appearance of the gun it was described exactly as it came in the description. Shooting this gun was amazing. It functioned without any hiccups. Overall this is a great gun at a great price. A+ for classic and their customer service dept.
Great deal for a great rifle
Review by thomas on 6/17/2016
I bought this rifle specifically because it was an original condition turn in. All the dents and scratches on the rifle really give it character. It feels like this rifle was actually used and that is awesome. Keep up the great work guys!
Very Surprised

Review by Ariel on 6/14/2016
Can't get any better than this! Got my first mosin nagant mostly matching numbers (bolt different sn) but over all great, no cracks in the wood or rust any where. Has some scratches here and there but personally it adds character to these relics! Can't wait to fire it at the range!

Was very pleased with the Rifle. This is my first Mosin and not my last, Classic did a great job and I will be ordering from them in the future.
was disappointed with this…...
Review by angf117 on 3/17/2016
i received my mosin today, and when i pulled it out of the box i was very disappointed…..ive been buying weapons and ammo from classic for 15 years…this is the FIRST time I've been disappointed…..the stock looks like it went through a wood chipper…..the bore is very very dark with hardly any rifling….im almost about to return it…..but ill see if i can do something with it….i own 5 mosins(m44 and 4 91/30's) i purchased from here and am VERY happy with them…..with the way the prices have doubled you'd think the selection would be a little better…..i guess turn in is crapola lol
Looks Nearly Arsenal Refinished
Review by normandylandings on 3/15/2016
I couldn't be more surprised by the condition the 1944 Mosin I received is in. Since I ordered a troop turn in and expected there to be numerous gouges and bare metal, but that wasn't the case. The bluing looks good on the magazine, receiver, and most of the barrel. The wood seems to have one very small knick on the rear or the stock, a pretty good scrape on the bottom of the stock up front (where the cleaning rod goes) and the bluing is thin or worn off at the end of the barrel. This was to be expected since it's in the area the bayonet attaches.

I wish it would have came with the cleaning rod, tear drop tool, sling or a bayonet.

Also it was interesting to see a blob of red paint on the buttplate. I'm assuming this was a way for the importer to identify different batches, not sure.

It by far has the most amount of cosmoline I've ever encountered, but that's why it's in good shape.
Beat up, but very cool!
Review by Lou on 3/7/2016
I bought my firs 91/30 back in 2007 for $75 and a few months later an M44 for $79. They were both refurbished and looked great and the 91/30 shot OK and the M44 was good except for a trigger that flips around loose. The 91/30 was counter bored so it wasn't going to win any accuracy competitions. I ordered the 91/30 Ex-Sniper from classic and what I received looks like a really great rifle. The stock was beat up and the whole rifle was covered in cosmoline, but I like it that way. It actually cleaned up really easy as the cosmoline was more like thick motor oil than paste.

There is absolutely no rust on the rifle and the bore and muzzle look fantastic. I checked the trigger pull and it has a slight takeup and breaks at a reliable 3.75lbs. My other 91/30 pulls at 5lbs and the M44 is 7lbs. It looks like whoever filled in the scope mount holes used some short plugs because I can see 3-4 threads per hole. It should make restoration very easy. My rifle is a 1944 and I have an original PU scope setup that is also from 1944 that I will be mounting. I just need to get a bent bolt and I'll be ready to go. I look forward to seeing what this thing can do!
Turn in 91/30s
Review by Igneoused on 3/3/2016
I purchased two 91/30 turn ins, a Tula ex-dragoon and an Izzy hex, they shipped and were delivered on schedule. My FFL contacted me and notified me that the box had been damaged but luckily no damage on the rifles (score!). Unpacking the rifles, they each had excellent paper and cardboard protection. They had the most cosmoline of any milsurp I had ever seen. At the time of writing this review only 1 rifle is "clean" enough to put away. Unfortunately BOTH rifles had cracked upper hand-guards, which disappointed me, especially considering the price. I would order them again in a heartbeat, even knowing what I do about the cracks. I don't hold it against Classic as these are surplus firearms. 4.9/5 Stars!

A Great Rifle
Review by Vahagn on 2/11/2016
I was so excited after receiving my mosin nagant. It came with all its accessories, Izhevsk, all matching serial numbers 1913 quality product. Has scratches in the wood but that gives it more charm as this old girl seen a lot of fighting. A huge thank you to Classic Firearms staff for bringing such quality rifles which might be the last ones from Russia. I will definitely be buying more products from you guys in the future!!!!
A little disappointed
Review by LukeM on 1/10/2016
I expected wear and tear however the stock had many fresh dings and splinters. I would have also expected to receive the triangular tool for breakdown/maintenance with the rifle....all others I've purchased elsewhere came with this and the leather ammo pouch(also none included). I would be hesitant to purchase from Classic Firearms again or to recommend them.

Review by Samuel on 1/2/2016
I bought one of these in August 2015 and finally managed to shoot it a couple weeks ago. It shot a lot better than I expected and the recoil was actually very light. The only complaint I may have is that the bolt sticks when firing lacquered rounds. Tula ammo works beautifully though. Cleaning the bolt with Nevr-Dull helps with any stiffness problems.
Better than expected
Review by Scott on 12/18/2015
I was pleasantly surprised how good the condition was on this rifle as i did not choose a hand picked one. I am looking forward to taking this hunting on our family farm this spring. It is also great to see major ammo makers are now loading new rounds for the rifle.
Impressed
Review by Brent on 12/16/2015
Got a hand selected Izhevsk round, and I wasn't sure what to expect. A run of the mill rifle? Perhaps. But when I was told by my FFL dealer that it was a wartime example that looked surprisingly good, I was happy. Given its production date of 1943, I would have expected it to be on the low end of cosmetic quality. But it exceeded those expectations. And once I cleaned it all up, it looked even better. To be honest, the battle scars it does have are a plus. Lots of arsenal and field markings of various sorts. It's been places. Non-matching bayonet requires, work, of course. Not that I expected to get lucky. Have yet to take this rifle out to shoot, I've still gotta oil it and get it a final once over from a person of greater expertise. If the rifle performs in any way as its well preserved appearance leads me to believe it will, I'll be happy. I'd like to mention this is also my first gun. So this is extra fun for me. For an online surplus order, this has worked out well and the price is great for what you can get. Given the busy holiday season it arrived reasonably on time, can't complain. I will say that I ordered a manual along with it and did not receive it. I was not happy, but Classic quickly issued me a refund. Thanks guys for the good service, and a great rifle!
Excellent service, excellent product
Review by Blue Ridge on 11/27/2015
Classic Firearms filled the order, emailed the information very well. I got a Tula with the 'best of' option. It barely looks like this rifle has been shot. The stock is almost new. The quality is very good. If you have any inclination to buy a Mosin, get one now from this shipment. If you don't you'll regret it.
Very pleased with my Mosin

10/10 A+++ Quality and value
Review by Jaytac88 on 11/18/2015
Well there's tons of reviews here already but I picked up my Mosin-Nagant 91/30 1943 Tula Round Reciever hand select option up about a week ago.

If you ever meet someone who bad mouths Classic Firearms, you need to never speak to that person again. The quality on the rifle was a solid 10/10 no exaggeration, I picked it up from my FFL, brought it home and unboxed it and was seriously grinning from ear to ear. It was perfect. It came with a bit of cosmoline on it but that's a GOOD thing, lets you know it's preserved and it's easy to get off, a quick YouTube search will help you out.

The rifle was shipped quickly and without any problems whatsoever, this was my first rifle purchase I've ever bought myself and I did it through classic firearms and couldn't be happier.

You guys have a customer FOR LIFE, not only me, my family and friends. Thanks for the quality and great business. If your reading this and are having doubts, take that leap and you won't regret it.

Great Rifle, piece of real history
Review by DAN on 11/3/2015
Purchased this rifle in October, one at hand select, the other not. I was really pleased with the condition of both. Upon inspection at the FFL dealer where I picked them up, the owner of the dealer saw both of them and swears that they look to be UN-fired, UN-used condition. The wood was in very good condition without damage, and the bolt was very clean inside, no pitting anywhere inside or out. I definitely plan on buying more from Classic. Kudos on the customer service. Good experience and great value for the money, overall.
Wonderful gun to own in your collection
Review by Scott on 10/16/2015
This is the first time I have bought a firearm from Classic Firearms and it definitely wont be the last! I was nervous from buying online, especially a gun for the first time but it was definitely worth it. I got the Mosin 91/30 and it was absolutely in wonderful shape. I checked the firing pin and the head spacing and it was safe to shoot. I also checked the bore of the rifle and it was beautiful. I guess I expected the Mosin to be caked in cosmoline but it was in excellent condition. It is definitely a cool conversation piece. I would not hesitate to buy any firearm from them. I will probably be buying more firearms from them in the future when I am financially able. You will not be disappointed.
nice surprise
Review by jerry on 10/14/2015
Been awhile since my purchase but had to do the research and check how it shoots. Only requested hex receiver and got a very clean rare piece of history. After reviewing and confirming with many sources I verified I received an all matching 1929 izhevsk dragoon prototype m/n transferred in 1952 to a minestry of defense weapon. RARE. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being super rare, I'm told this is a 6. Worth much more than I paid. That is always a win in my book. I was going to modify and upgrade but now I'm going to leave it. The only problem is a sticky bolt when fired with old ammo. I think that is due to residual cosmoline in the reciever so I'll try and heat then brush it to see if that fixes it. In any event I'm extremely happy with it. May sell it and buy a few more.

This was my first order with Classic, and I picked a Tula round with hand select option non-matching bayonet. Lo and behold, I received a 1937 Tula round with beautiful stock, shiny rifling, with no cosmoline, and ALL numbers match including bayonet!!! I could not be happier with this purchase! Shipping was prompt, Classic kept me updated by email during transit, and notified me once package was signed for at my dealer's shop. I strongly recommend Classic Firearms. If you are on the fence about getting one of these, don't wait! Thank you Classic!!

First time buyer from Classic but this won't be the last purchase. I chose the hand picked option and the rifle is beautiful. A few dings and dents here and there but much better than I expected. As an added bonus I scrubbed the bore and swabbed it several times and it came out very bright with no pitting. I am not sure if this 1942 rifle was even fired that much judging from the bore. I am thoroughly pleased.

Review by Reave the Just on 9/18/2015
Purchased my 1st milsurp Mosin and opted for the unmatched bayonet hand select. After FFL transfer and a speedy drive home, I giggled and opened the box. The packing was superb. It couldn't have been safer if it was shipped in a Volvo. Very little cosmoline at all. Smooth bolt action though to actuate the safety will take an act of God. The finish is dark and has very few flaws; all shallow and no gouges. The metal is nice, showing wear only on the butt plate. Accessories included a tool kit, pouch, oil container, cleaning rod and a bayonet. All matching numbers!!! I'm so happy, happy enough I peed a little. Thanks Classic. Job well done.
Excellent!

looks like a mosin expected a better pulled one since i paid extra... the bolt was showing signs of rust ...wood was fair..ok buy ...would not buy another or spend the extra money for a pulled one and no sling with package ... sks i bought was better picked and put together since i paid extra thought the mosin would be the same ... some one dropped the ball on my order guess next time its draw of the luck...no extra for selected for me again
Nice batch of rifles
Review by PaulK on 9/11/2015
I bought 4. All handpicked. 3 Izzies and 1 Tula hex. There was an issue with some of the izzies and Classic Arms stepped up to the plate and took care of it without a fuss. That how I ended up buying another Tula because they stand by what they say.

The Mosins were in good condition considering their age. You can't pick it yourself but this is the best place to buy if you want a safe rifle for a reasonable price.

Almost like new condition
Review by DNA on 9/1/2015
When I ordered a Mosin online, I didn't expect much except for a "well used" and even a refurbished military surplus rifle. You know the type. Rust, pitting, scratches, bluing worn off in places. Serial #'s stamped and re-stamped over the old ones (and none of them matching). Randomly slapped together like some Russian steampunk version of a rifle. I fully intended to refurbish and modernize it myself with a new stock, cut and recrown the barrel, tap the receiver to mount a new scope, etc... You get the picture.

However...

When I received my new rifle from my local FFL I was impressed to find a rifle that looked as if it had come straight from the armory. Matching serial #'s and liked new condition! Granted, it is now 73 years old, but there was absolutely NONE of the issues I mentioned above. My "New" Mosin-Nagant 91/30 was in pristine condition. When disassembled, I was even more surprised to find that it wasn't slathered in cosmoline. The chamber and barrel was spotless with no hint of carbon, copper, or brass. I swear it doesn't even look as if there has even been a round chambered in it before. Even under the extractor, which is commonly missed when cleaning, was spotless.

I realize I likely had the "luck of the draw" as I didn't choose the "hand picked" option when ordering. But with this kind of luck I will not hesitate to order from Classic Firearms again in the future. Thank guys!!
Hand Pick Nagant
Review by stuntmandave on 8/31/2015
I received my Mosin Nagant 91/30 last week, and I have to say I'm very pleased. Other than a decent chip off the end of the buttstock it is still in great condition considering its from 1942. In addition the mag plate has a mis stamp that is stamped over and it appears to be from the factory which is interesting to say the least. The extra's that the rifle came with certainly made this a worthwhile purchase. I would have given it 5 stars if the buttstock wasn't chipped but otherwise I will be looking at classic for my future milsurp purchases.
Almost Pristine Condition!!
Review by Steve on 8/29/2015
First off, rifle arrived in less than a week from order date...very impressive! The rifle I received was a 1942 Tula round receiver with all matching serial numbers, including on the bayonet. Except for some blemishes on the still nicely lacquered finish, this gun could have been next to new out of the box. The bolt, firing pin, and receiver looked as if had never been fired. No rust or scratches on barrel or receiver. Bayonet had sharp edges and appeared to be unused. Even came with original cleaning kit and tools in original leather case. There was also far less Cosmoline than I expected. Used hot water and CLP on metal parts and just some CLP to do the minor cleaning on the wood stock. Hoppes #9 solvent to clean the bore and reveal perfect rifling. This is by far the best firearm purchase I have made as far as value and bang for the buck. Can't wait to hit the range with this Russian beauty!
Bluing good, wood in rough shape
Review by Ben on 8/29/2015
Rifle arrived at my FFL dealer pretty quick. Looking at the rifle, the bluing is excellent, but the wood is very rough with numerous gouges, scratches and a cracked upper handguard. I expected some minor dings and scratches but nothing that bad. The rifling looks great and the bore is shiny and not counterbored. Arrived with fairly light coat of oil.

I guess that's what's to be expected when getting a surplus rifle sight unseen.
Beautiful Quality A+

Received my 1943 Izzy today. Paid the extra amount for the hand pick and oh boy was it worth it. The stock shows some wear (to be expected shes 72 years old), Otherwise a beauty queen. Bore is strong, all numbers match, and even received a matching bayonet even though I didn't select that option (Thanks Classic!). Anyone contemplating ordering this rifle needs to just do it, you'll be happy you did. I was so pleased with this one I ordered a Tula one this morning. This will be the 3rd Mosin Nagant 91/30 I own. Once again, great service from Classic, beautiful firearm quality and good price. Will be back for more!! Once again, Thanks Classic Arms!!

Great service, excellent laminate Izhevsk Mosin. rifle. I love everything about my new rifle. A high power rifle for the cost of a high end pellet gun. I love military history and I now own a piece of it.
I will soon add more of these fine rifles to my collection.

Very Happy
Review by Joe on 8/24/2015
I ordered a Tula Round Laminated when they still had them. Very nice gun. It took awhile to get it but I am on the west coast. it ended up being a 1942. I received a ammo pouch gun cleaning kit and oil tin all free of charge and not even mentioned. I had to pay about $25 to get all that for another mosin. Also even though it said that it was a Non matching bayonet the bayonet ended up matching making even more valuable. the only downsides with the gun is that there are some dings and scrapes in it but they add character to an already beautiful gun. One might even think that this gun was in a war. The other downside is the bolt which has been finicky even after I took it apart and cleaned it. I am still working on it but it does work. This is my third order from classic firearms and I have been nothing less then completely satisfied every time.

Ordered a izhevsk round laminated..

Shipped fast, I got a 1943 with a great stock, some minor scuffs but looks good with great color.. all matching numbers with a great looking bolt... very happy and would consider classic again.
I expected cosmoline and rifle barely had it.

My Mosin got to my FFL fast.... Hand select was worth the extra money, gun fires perfect, no issues....
Missing Front sight
Review by Old Crow on 8/12/2015
The gun arrived and to my disappointment was missing it’s front sight and front guard screw!
Wile I don’t expect a military surplus firearm to be perfect I did expect it to have a front sight.
This is particularly disturbing considering I paid extra for the hand select grade.
I can see the lack of the front guard screw being over looked but the front sight on an 91/30 Mosin Nagant is not a small item.
On the plus side all the parts had matching serial numbers and were in as good if not better shape than I expected!
Also Classic Firearms has been great with updates of the order and shipping process and providing all the required transfer paperwork!

I'm very happy with the rifle I just received today. I requested, and received a wartime production (1942 Izhevsk) gun. All numbers match, there's barely a trace of cosmoline (which after having removed cosmoline from a Yugo Mauser before is almost priceless), and there's a bonus ammo pouch with accessories that weren't even advertised as coming with it. The bolt is pristine.

The only real work I had to do to clean it up was removing some corrosion off the copper ends of the upper handguard. I suppose after 70+ years that is to be expected. A little Hoppes cut through that easy.

Just did a regular cleaning and lube and it should be ready to go.

I don't think I can shoot this gun....
Review by Uphoff on 8/3/2015
I don't think this gun has ever been used. If it has it was minimal. When I received it, my FFL and I looked at the rifling and decided it looked brand new. I took it home, cleaned it and found zero wear on the bolt group, trigger pin or anything else that would make me believe it had ever been fired. My cleaning involved heating the barrel to soften cosmo (minimal cosmo), running bore cleaner through it and letting it soak while hot, brushing with wire brush and soaking some more. When I run clean patches through it they came out bluish green, that's not Cosmo or dirt, that's something new? Barrel is beautiful. I will not mod this gun....I just became a purist.

What did I get? 1942 Izzy, all 5 numbers match. Fit and finish is top shelf. Get these while all the options are fresh for the choosing.
ACTION, WOOD AND BORE ALL SPECTACULAR!

Best Bargain I Have Ever Purchased.
Review by Bill on 7/29/2015
I am finished buying Mosin Nagants. Let me explain. Over the past several years I have purchased at least 10 Mosin Nagants from Classic Firearms and have NEVER been disappointed with the firearm. This rifle is the most accurate firearm I have ever shot with open sights. It is a gem. Yes, the prices have risen slightly BUT the rifle is still a BARGAIN. As for the ammo, well I have had more difficulty stocking up on .22 ammo than the 7.62x54R ammo. The purpose of this review is to obviously highlight the merits of the Mosin Nagant but to also promote the fantastic relationship I have enjoyed with Classic Firearms.

Received my hand picked Mosins today (7/28/15) and I am extremely pleased at the quality! One is a BEAUTIFUL Tula round with EVERYTHING matching. It is so nice, I almost don't want to fire it! But I will as soon as I can! I bought one for me and one for my son and ordered another today! Thank you so much! Great service!
Not sure if this was a good deal or not
Review by PK on 7/20/2015
I purchased 3 Mosin Nagant from Classic Arm. I paid the extra $15 for hand picked.I received the following:

A) 1942 izzy - In good condition. the bayonet was a re-serialed but all 4 serial numbers matched. Tons of them were produced so not really rare. .
B) 1939 izzy - 3 of the 4 serial numbers matched. The buttplate did not match. The stock was in bad shape with deep gouges in it and it may have been a replacement stock since it doesn't look like the typical 1939 izzy stock. 1939 more rare.
C) 1939 izzy - all 4 serial number matched and in good condition. Stock in good condition. probably the best in terms of rarity and condition of the 3.

I paid $189 plus $15 for hand picked plus shipping $7 plus $20 FFL so little over $230 per rifle. Service was great. My order was processed efficiently and shipped and delivered to my FFL without issue but for $230 per rifle for a Mosin Nagant, I guess my expectations were a bit higher than what I got especially after seeing the videos that showed the kind of guns that were in the crates.

I walk away with mixed feelings about this purchase.
Pleased so far
Review by Gene on 7/18/2015
Picked up the rifle on Thursday. My FFL was impressed with the condition of the rifle, as were customers in the shop. I took it home and checked the headspace with my gage. Bolt wouldn't close with the "GO" gage. Went to the Internet to research this and came away with the knowledge that it would be a good idea to really clean the rifle. Now, it looked good and clean before I started so I was surprised at the amount of cosmo floating in my hoy soapy water. I guess that it is true that stuff works its way into everything. I reassembled the rifle and checked the headspace again, it closed without a hitch. The "NOGO" gage would not allow the bolt to close. I won't be able to hit the range until next Saturday. After that session I will report on accuracy.
Great product, Awesome price, and fast shipping!

Thanks classic firearms!
Overall pretty great
Review by Barion on 7/8/2015
Overall the gun was superb, in much better condition than i thought it was going to be; The stock is completely undamaged and the bore is in excellent condition as well. They even cleaned up most of the cosmoline for me. The only problem, and i do mean only, with the rifle was the bolt which has some minor imperfections on it, nothing major and no chips or deep scratches but you can tell it has been in storage for a while. But as far as the internal functions of the bolt, its amazing. Slides effortlessly in and out of place. Bayonet is in perfect condition and has the matching serial number ( i paid the extra 10 for it). All serial numbers on the rifle were matching as well which is awesome. I paid the extra 15 for the best of 10 for cosmetics and so far either all their rifles are beautiful, or they really did pick a beauty! I will add pictures and perhaps even a video at a later date as im currently waiting the 10 days till i can pick it up from my FFL dealer.

i ordered my mosin on the monday before the 4th of july and received it the following monday. shipping was very quick but the ffl i had it shipped to was closed that friday, otherwise i would have had it that day instead. i paid extra for the best of 10 pick and it was totally worth it. the stock is in excellent shape and the rifling in the barrel is solid. i don't see myself buying another mosin any time soon as one is enough for me to have some fun with, but this will be my first stop if i ever do decide to and will highly recommend classic firearms to anyone looking to purchase one.
Great example of a Mosin Nagant!
Review by Dylan19606 on 6/23/2015
Was very excited to get my first Mosin Nagant. When it finally arrived (only about 4 days to ship including a Sunday so really 3 days) and I did a lot of research online with price and they were definitely the cheapest. I paid the extra $10 for a number matching bayonet and extra $15 dollars for best cosmetically (out of 10 rifles.) This rifle was beautiful when it came in only very (and i do mean VERY) light spots in the wood finish by the left side by the trigger (wood was a bit lighter than the rest of the stock from wear, but who cares.) When I opened the bolt and held the gun with barrel in air, the bolt fell back like there was nothing holding it, that's really really good for a 70 year old gun that was drenched in sticky cosmoline for 40 of those years and anyone who has a Mosin will tell you that! the only noticeable problem that I seen was the firing pin looked a little bad (like it was not perfectly rounded at the tip it was more with multiple flat angles for lack of better terms) but all in all I am extremely satisfied which led me to do even more business with Classic Firearms. These are good guys that have great customer service. You should also buy your Mosin now, because prices have doubles in the past 2 years and also with the problems that the U.S. is having with Issa Issa and Russia in general, they may never import any more crates in the U.S. so get them now!

Better Than Expected
Review by Chief Joe on 6/21/2015
Were we surprised when the FFL dealer opened the box. I've been around firearms since 1968 so I know a little about them. This is my first order from CF and all I can say is Wow, what a nice piece of history. I have to rate this Mosin Nagant at Very Good! For a 1943 rifle, it looks like it's been minimally used. The stock is in good shape with no dings, chips, cracks, etc. The bolt works smoothly and the overall appearance is better than expected. I got all the goodies with it, except a sling (I don't plan on carrying this monster anyway). And to make my pre-Father's Day gift even sweeter, the number on the bayonet matches the one on the rifle. Thank You CF!
Mosin Nagant
Review by Ricky on 6/20/2015
This is my 1st purchase from Classic Firearms. A couple of my friends have purchased Mosin Nagants from other sources. They were blown away by the quality of mine from Classic Firearms. I did not opt for hand select, but I was most impressed with the one I received. Stock is near perfect, bluing id deep and rich, bolt is slick, clean almost like new. Rifling looks like it has been fired very little or never. After a good cleaning, makes my other MILSUP's look weary. Will be taking to the range next week and see how well it shoots. I gave 5 Stars because I was treated 1st rate as a customer, received with in the week I ordered, great packaging and was contacted thru emails at every step of the process. More than got what I paid for. Will order again from Classic Firearms. Thank you.
Very fine quality on my recent Mosin purchase
Review by David on 6/12/2015
Yes, I notice the prices on Mosins are slipping upward. That's why I got in on another one while I can. I did pay the extra $15 for best of 10 and I believe was worth it. The machine work is very well finished, along with the cosmetics. The barrel is very nice, clean and shiny. Although I haven't had a chance to fire it yet, I'm sure it will hit just fine. My FFL person is a professional weapons expert, said after inspection it is a very fine rifle and I made a good choice. Not considering the age of this rifle, it appears to be near new. I hope to find time very soon to take it out to my range and see what it can do. If I'm allowed another review in brief I'll let you know.
Outstanding

Review by Native Son on 6/3/2015
Received a very nice 1942 Tula Round receiver M91/30 most all numbers matched with the exception of the mag door latch plate which was struck through and renumbered, no big deal.

The bore was dark before cleaning but after running a 30 caliber bore snake through it with some Hoppes #9 (Best for corrosive ammo) I was shocked at the strong rifling and no counter bore.

The wood work was in great shape with a few small surface scratches that can be buffed out easy and all metal work was free of rust and corrosion.

Took it to the range after a good cleaning and a dab of oil, it shot on target and very accurate at 150 yards, I found that adding a small bit of wire insulation on the front sight pin allowed me to use the 1000 meter rear sight at 100 yards, with out the front sight pin extension the rear ladder sight couldn't get me closer than 125 yards.

I did add a slip on limbsaver brand recoil pad over the metal butt stock plate for comfort, with out it my shoulder could only stand about 50 rounds before it started to interfere with my concentration (I had my shoulder rebuilt a year ago after an accident) and it can only take so much recoil, the pad cut the recoil by over 50% so now I can shoot my Mosin Nagant all day with no problems at all.

This was my 2nd Mosin purchase, the first one (1939 Izzy Hex receiver ) had such a rough stock and upper hand guard (purchased at a local gun supplier) that I ordered a Monte Carlo type stock and it was just a drop in fit for the Mosin action and barrel, I also added a modern bi-pod and a sling along with a modern scope and scope mount BUT I wanted a nice example of an original Mosin so that was my reason for getting a 2nd one, so that I could leave one stock.

There are many after market add ones for the Mosin's , tactical stocks, different scope mounts (even "No tap") that utilizes the dove tail hidden under the rear ladder sight and you can also get the scope mount that utilizes the base of the rear ladder sight by just removing the retaining pin, very cool upgrades.

What is there NOT to like about a Mosin Nagant, well made, cheap military grade ammo and flexibility to experiment with modern components and just an attention getter at the range, all my shooting Buddies love my M91/30 and some are looking for their own at the time of this review.

My next Mosin purchase will be an PU Sniper version with original scope and a down turned bolt handle.

Why did I only give it 5 stars....because I didn't have an option of giving it 10 stars !!!

I had done a ton of research on the M91/30 before I began to seek one out and I am happy I did, I was warned in the beginning of my Mosin Journey to "Be careful because they are addicting, and have a habit of multiplying in my gun safe", I am happy I didn't listen because , for the price of a high powered firearm that is so affordable who wouldn't want more than one.

After polishing the internal working parts , adding a good scope and extending the front sight pin I am consistently hitting 2" groups at 100 yards and so far I have been able to get 10" groups at 500 yards with my set up, not bad for 70+ year old weapons.

If you're sitting on the fence about acquiring your first Nagant wait no longer, you will be happy that you got yourself one but probably going to be just a little mad at yourself that you didn't a long time ago, well that is how I felt anyway.

Do your research, get yourself one and treat yourself to a little slice of History and above all , always clean it as soon as possible after you get back from the range if you are using military surplus ammo as it is very corrosive, if you shoot after market / off the shelf ammo then it isn't such a big deal.

I hope my review will inspire others to at least check them out, it will be a long gun purchase that has no equal in value for a whole lot of weapon for a little bit of coin.

Thanks for taking the time to read my review, from a die hard Mosin fan.

I am kinda new customer to Classic Firearms, But about 3 mos ago i purchased a 91/30, and a M44.

What can i say, they are surplus, but my 91/30 looked as thou it had never been fired. the stock was kinda scruffed up but the metal looked brand new ehh it was it is, i'll redo the stock anyways or it will just be a great pig shooter.

The M44 i bought was a really nice gun, had some minor wear on the blueing, the stock was in great condition.

Overall i absolutely love both of them, they are shooters too.
So to celebrate i bought i just pissed my wife off and bought another one. :)

Just wish y'all would get more M44's in and the matching pistols, and while your at it how bout getting some M1 Garands in. I know im dreaming.

I order C&R rifles from classic and I couldn't pass on these MN 91/30's. I have sold off a few 91/30's and wanted a nice example that wasn't a PU for my collection, and this one didn't disappoint. I didn't order in time for a hex or a Tula, but I didn't really need one, just wanted...and hoped...for a nice Izzy round receiver.

I understand I took a roll of the dice because I didn't pick hand select or get a matching numbered bayonet, however, my rifle is very nice!! A pre-war stock with a 1939r barrel. Lots of stamps and proofs. The tang might be 1938 or 1939 / either way it is correct for the rifle. The barrel is bright and rifling is strong. It has been refurbished, but I could not have asked for a better example from classic.

I would like to add my rifle was boxed very nicely (as it always is). I feel the problems other reviews might have mentions occurred from the shipper.
Must be a mix up disappointed
Review by Matt on 5/21/2015
Very disappointed. Asked for a numbers matching rifle preferably Tula. Got an ishevsh round reciever With the invoice bayonet and rifle all different non matching numbers! They must have mixed up my rifle with someone else's. Honest mistake I'm sure but someone has a numbers matching rifle they didn't pay for. I'm sure classic will exchange it for a matching one. I've had great service from them in the past and don't doubt I'll get it now. Very disappointed though what a let down.

I ordered this rifle as soon as the email came out about availability. Pins and needles I tell ya! 10 days later, I pick it up at my local FFL. He was as excited as I was when unpacking it at his shop. He was wishing he had ordered one. Thank you for a beautiful piece of history. I have put 40 rounds through it so far and is a great shooter. It is now mounted in the dining room so we can enjoy viewing it often. Thank you Classic Firearms.

I am extremely satisfied with my purchase! I ordered an Izzy Hex receiver. Upon receipt not only was it a hex receiver but a 1927 with everything being matching numbers including the bayonet (which I did not ask for). The bore is beautiful and the stock has only some minor scratches/dings. I pulled it apart and had to clean very little. I have not fired it yet but I'm sure it will fire flawlessly. Cabelas had Mosins at $169 but the quality was atrocious compared to the product Classic is sending out.
This was my 2nd purchase from Classic. My first being a Yugo M70 ABII underfolder. They are top notch when it comes to the product and service they provide. Quick shipping and quality product. If you are on the fence about purchasing from Classic, don't be. Jump and make your purchase. You won't be disappointed. I'm sure I will be making other purchases in the future.
Hitting paper at 25-50-100 yards
Review by Tyler on 5/17/2015
This is an *update* to my recent order of the HEX Izhevsk Mosin Nagant I ordered from the latest batch of crates from Classic Firearms(2015). Took it out to the range the other day and it’s a shooter! I was shooting some Tula and Wolf (no mil surplus ammo) and I was getting decent groups at 25-50-100 yards but consistently high right. After some research I found out that is how the Soviets made them right out of the factory. The soldiers were taught to aim for the belt buckle. So overall, I was doing my part and the rifle was doing its part I am satisfied. After some more range time and training I should have it dialed in where I want it. The mountains were ringing with the pounding echoing sound of 54R! Go get one and see for yourself!
Good but bad shipping

I check the Classicfirearms web site pretty often and I couldn't believe it when I saw they were offering Mosin 91/30's again! I checked at just the right time because there were still some Tula's available so I jumped on it. Good thing too because the next day that option was gone. When I received it from my FFL about a week later it was no surprise I got what was advertised and what I ordered: A wartime Tula round receiver from 1942!
The metal was about 90% original blue and the rest arsenal refinished with that black stuff but very nice none the less. The wood was perfect as far as no dents or scratches. The finish didn't matter because I was going to refinish the stock anyway but what great condition. The people at Classicfirearms.com have never disappointed me, what a great purchase!

I just purchased my first Mosin. New 2015 batch. No extras no options. Round receiver. Gun arrived in 2 weeks at FFL. No Cosmoline.Just a bit of oil and gun grease. I cleaned it with a cotton rag. I'm not sure if that was even necessary. I took it to the range. I am an amateur shooter. I thought it shot great! At 50 yards 12 of 15 shots were hits within 3" of center bullseye. 3 shots were within 5". The gun shoots very similar to my 8mm Mauser, but with a little less kick. I highly recommend it. This gun is great!
Oh, If this rifle could talk the stories it would tell....
Review by Tyler on 5/12/2015
Hello Classic Firearms and other firearm enthusiast,

I received the email notification of the announcement of Classic Firearms newest shipment of Mosin Nagant 91/30. The email said they had crates of Tula Hex/Round and Izhevsk Hex/Round!! I logged on the computer to look at placing my order about 15 minutes later. After refreshing the page all of the Tula’s Hex’s were SOLD OUT! I had been really wanting a HEX receiver for a long time now so I chose to go with the Izhevsk HEX. I placed my order and received a confirmation. The next day I checked the website and all of the TULA round receivers were SOLD OUT!

Classic firearms had announced in their description that this was the “last batch” of Mosins to leave Ukraine….Classic Firearms has admitted they just pass on what they hear from the importer and general rumor among the surplus crowd….and I believe that to true. If people want to complain about the price on these then they are welcome too….BUT…..in case anybody has been living under a rock for the past year I will tell you that political sanctions and the Invasion into Ukraine has been disturbing the shipments of Mosin Nagants. I tend to believe that these are getting harder and harder to find….Get yours while you still can…

I knew Classic Firearms was probably swamped and backlogged dealing with all of the orders they received. Oh, if this rifle could talk the stories it would tell. I received a beautiful dark colored, matching numbers (even the bayonet), Hex Receiver Izhevsk dated of “1931”. Looking it over I see a few dings and marks but overall an excellent rifle. There is no cosmoline to be found which is fine by me because I don’t have to clean it. It brings up an interesting thought of why no cosmoline but more research will tell. The bolt cycles very smoothly and it has not been counter bored. Buying online can be risky not being able to see what you’re getting but I highly recommend classic firearms as a great company and their descriptions are very accurate. As for me, well it looks like I need to purchase some ammo and hit the range!

Ordered 3 Tula Hex on this most recent shipment got a 32,34 and 35.

34 was ok and will be used for modern conversion. Upper hand guard is light rest of stock is dark. The #s are force electro pencil match and has some rust here an there, nothing heavy. Bolt was actually wet and had some surface corrosion but cleaned up ok. Bore dark with good rifling.

32 has the best stock light colored no nicks and Numbers matching with strikeouts on the mag latch. Bore is almost nearly shiny and rifling is Very strong. Very happy with this rifle.

35 is all numbers matching even the bayonet (bayonet is strike thru match) Stock is very nice Med dark. Bore is fantastic. Never seen a shiny bore on a Mosin before, Great rifling looks nearly new. Love it

All 3 had bayonets, accessory pouches, cleaning kits and oil bottles. 2 round double oil bottles, 1 square double oil bottle. One loose cleaning kit, one in plastic bag, one in original issue canvas pouch. All 3 cleaning kits missing brush but that's kind of common.
I'm very happy with the 32 and 35, disappointed with the 34 but at least this way I won't loose sleep over drilling the receiver for a scope mount.
Had to do 4 stars because of the 34 though.
The Best Yet ; a 1932 Izhevsk in a very light-colored wood stock
Review by Deadly in OKC on 5/11/2015
This hex receiver 1932 Izzy was in a very light colored stock and was refurbished at the Molot Arsenal. The rifling was excellent and was not counter-bored. This Mosin Nagant.91/30 stands out because Molot highlighted the sight range marks, magazine serial number, butt plate serial number, and barrel serial number with red paint (all numbers matched!). There were a few light scratches and small gouges because the rifle was loose in the original Molot box without any bubble wrap or paper to pad it during shipping. However, the scratches were touched up with Old English Furniture Scratch Remover and the gouges were filled in with some Elmer's Wood Putty. Then, four coats of Tru-Oil buffed with 0000 steel wool and some Stock Sheen completed this project that makes it the best looking Mosin Nagant in the collection. Next, off to the range to see if it shoots as good as it looks. Thanks Again, Classic !

Excellent Rifle!!!
Review by Jonathon on 5/9/2015
This is definitely one of the nicest Mosins in my collection. Its a nice 1936 Tula Hex receiver. The barrel and steel are a nice deep black. The bore is very clean with sharp rifling and no counterbore. The stock is in excellent condition with only two small scratches on the finish, which is about as good as it gets for a crate Mosin. Numbers matching with no strike outs, penciling etc even numbers matching bayonet with full accessory kit minus the strap.

I was really surprised with how little cosmoline was on the rifle, but not complaining LOL. Definitly recommended and may buy another regular 91/30 if this batch is all like the rifle I got.
Really nice M91/30

JUST PICKED UP MY 1934 MOSIN NAGANT TULA HEX. I HAVE TO SAY THAT FOR A 81 YEAR OLD RIFLE ITS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. I HAVE SEVERAL MOSINS AND THE ONE I JUST RECIEVED FROM (CLASSIC FIREARMS) IS NOW MY FAVORITE. ALSO BOUGHT A 440 SPAM CAN OF RUSSIAN AMMO WITH A ENCLOSED (CAN OPENER). THANK YOU CLASSIC FIREARMS.
Better Than Advertised!
Review by avardcurt on 5/8/2015
As a recent interest turned collector of the Mosin/Nagant Rifle, these offered by Classic Firearms are some of the best quality I've come across. Excellent pricing and super fast shipping have sold me on CF as my "Go To" company for these beauties. Mine came with great furniture, few nicks or marks, better bluing left than expected, 1939 manufacture date from the Tula plant, a bore not as dark as most seen, good lockup with bolt, and just an overall better than expected rifle. Great job CF, Top Drawer in every respect!!!
1933 Tula Hex.

Received my 33 Tula Hex today. The rifle was in excellent condition. Minor knicks and scratches in the stock. Very pleased with my first experience with Classic Firearms.
Very pleased!
Review by Paul on 5/7/2015
I took advantage of the latest offering from Classic Firearms concerning their recent batch of M91/30s. At first, I was a bit put off by the higher cost, but realized that in the current environment, I may not have the chance to purchase one of these rifles for a while. So, I dove in so to speak.

What I got from the good folks at Classic is a numbers matching, 1943 Izhevsk. No strike outs, no electro pencil, no force match. All four locations for the serial number had the exact same font and alpha numerical serial number! Not to mention the inside of the barrel is very shiny, with strong lands and grooves. It was only with a magnifying glass that I was able to see very, very minor pitting inside..

On the bottom of the barrel, between where the barrel meets the lower hand guard, about 7" in front of the receiver, is a spot of rust about the diameter of an oval quarter. It cleaned up ok, and I don't suspect I should have a problem with the rifle.

The furniture on this particular specimen was nothing too spectacular, with only a few small blemishes that one should expect from a rifle of this vintage and purpose. It is a Mosin Nagant, a rifle that in my opinion has a considerable amount of character and flaws. Which when combined, I find attractive with this particular make and model.

Overall, I"m very pleased with the condition of the rifle, and would not hesitate to purchase from Classic Firearms in the future. Hopefully they can continue to get and/or keep the M91/30 in stock with minimal increases if any in the cost.. Only time will tell.

I suspect this latest example from Classic Firearms will be a great shooter, and look forward to taking it out this deer season.

Thank you.

To tell you the truth I was suprized by the condition of the rifle. I was expecting something a little more "blemished" the riffling, would, and overal condition of the rifle was compareble to a slightly use weapon. I was originally going to hack it up and give I a modern look but it's just too pretty. Thank you guys over at classic for delivering quality.
Military Surplus
Review by jrk on 5/7/2015
I received a round receiver Ishvek 1943 build code. The rifle looks like it was made with a hammer and a cold chisel. Its the most crude weapon I've ever seen. The stock has multiple repairs in it where it appears it was made wrong. The bolt is so loose it will bind up. There are gaps of up to 1/4 inch between the receiver and the stock. This gun was a piece of junk when it was made in 1943. Its not Classic Arms fault. You pay your money and you take your chances. This cobby pile of millmarks is a testament to soviet reality in the darkest days of WW2. Its a piece of history, but with the trigger having a full half inch of slop (it actually does rattle), its never going to be anything but that. This is not a rifle for shooting and certainly not anything at any distance despite what others may claim
Mosin Nagant the Nazis nightmare
Review by Frederick on 4/27/2015
This is a poor mans hunting rifle, it shoots with authority and with strength durable in extreme cold and heat weather conditions if I lived in the wilderness like in Montana, Wyoming, or Alaska I would bring two of these bad boys at this price one to shoot big game and the other for protection at the cabin. I have 5 of these rifles to include the hex and sniper version and all I can say is the Nazis in WW2 underestimated this rifle and many met their end at the end of one these Russian workhorses in the battlefield.

My first Mosin - Very happy
Review by Dan on 1/18/2015
My first Mosin. I'm just sorry I got on the bandwagon so late. Less than $200 with shipping and FFL but an excellent rifle. Very little cosmoline. Cleaned up very nice. Purchased a 440 round spam can. Will take it to the range as soon as my headspace gauge arrives and it passes the field test. A 1942 Izzy in very good shape. Nice bore. I would agree with the importer excellent grading. Shipping was not quick but it was around Christmas and that makes it no ones fault. Thank you Classic! I will not hesitate to do business with you again.

I purchased 4 of these, I couldn't come up with the money for 5, and they were all beautiful. 3 Tulas and an "Izzy" dates from 1938-1942. Great rifling and no headspace issues. There was only minimal cosmoline on all, even the ffl handeler was surprised about how clean they were. Nicely and carefully packaged. Arrived 2 days earlier than expected. I would and do highly recommend buying if you can and highly recommend classicfirearms.com for any purchases to family and friends.

Not a good experience...
Review by Michael on 12/3/2014
I have been a customer for a long time. Classic Firearms is a top notch company. I rate them as 5 stars. Unfortunately my M91/30 rifle was not in excellent condition as advertised. It would grade under a B. The stock had many dings, scrapes, and a large gouge. The gouge was too splintered and deep to refinish. Plus a rifle graded as excellent should not have to be refinished. I called with the intentions to do an exchange. I was hoping they would offer to inspect the new rifle's stock prior to shipping. Other reviews have said that was their experience when exchanging. The customer rep (Janet) did not offer even after I hinted. She was professional but somewhat insensitive. This swayed me to do just a refund instead. I am disappointed that this experience cost me $15.67 (cost of shipping back). Classic Firearms should have covered this cost since the rifle was not as advertised. This is my first and only bad experience so I will continue to do business. Happy Holidays to all.

I was at the local 5 dogs shooting range hitting the same 2 x 2 metal target at 300 yards over and over again using the metal gun sites. What a blast. An older fella walks up and says to me you have a real shooter there. I agreed . I thought about getting a scope but I am having to much fun free sighting. Thats were real talent comes in. My dad was a marksman in WW2 I think he also would have enjoyed this rifle. great gun for fun or old fashion game hunting.

I will try to be brief. Purchased a mn without the hand select option, received and accepted from my FFL. Took the rifle home and during field stripping noticed a three inch crack in the stock under the barrel. Called CF and talked to Janet who was very nice and after I explained the situation provided me a RMA to return the rifle and CF will send me another rifle. Here is where it gets good, CF sent me a 1938 Tula that is beautiful. Great customer service with a great product. Classic Firearms has gained another customer. Thank you.
Very good quality for the price
Review by Donald on 11/17/2014
I would like to say this is my first purchase from Classic Firearms and my first internet purchase of a firearm, and my first military surplus. I am one lucky guy. I have a really knowledgeable and good gunsmith as my FFL dealer and he and another guy in the shop who has five Mosins were very impressed with the rifle you all sent me. They believed that it was probably the best example of its kind they had seen and would be easy to clean up. Also it was dated 1942, a significant year for the rifle. Although it had been used, whoever carried it and whoever prepared it for long term storage took very good care of it. Can't wait to get it to the range. I'm trying to upload some pictures of it and hope they go through. Thanks Classic Firearms for sending me a beautiful rifle and great piece of history. You really did all right by me. Like my FFL/Gunsmith said of it: It's nice to know after 70+ years, there's still a rifle like that out there in such great condition. DC
Great Quality, Affordable
Review by Mason on 11/3/2014
The 91/30 is a great all around bolt action rifle. It is a very dependable gun. Has that classic look and feel for traditionalists, easily customizable for the modern shooters. All around best buy for the price point. Exceptional service dealing with my FFL.
My first Mosin is a Tula
Review by Cory on 11/1/2014
The gun came in in great condition. The guy that did my FFL transfer said that it was one of the best Mosins he'd ever seen. I guess I got pretty lucky - its a great condition gun, and on top of that the manufacturer was Tula (1943), and this was my first Mosin. The stock looks great - one small spot next to the butt stock where a piece of wood chipped off, and it seems that the bore has been counter-bored at the end, making the rifling stop about an inch away from the end of the muzzle, but other than that, its about flawless. All of the serials matched on all of the parts on the gun. Accessories included are: Oil can, Mosin repair tool, 4-piece bore cleaning kit, and a bayonet. Unfortunately, the bayonet's serial number did not match, and it didn't come with an ammo pouch or stripper clips, so I'll order that separate.
Shipping was fast, and I could track it the entire way.
There was surprisingly little cosmoline on mine, which worried me because I thought it may have rust as a result. It turns out that this gun was picked up by some other company in Russia, and refurbished, which is why there was so little cosmoline. It even came with a booklet from the refurb company - they marketed it as a hunting rifle. Lol.
Great Buy in October
Review by USMC1991 on 10/30/2014
Ordered my 1943 Izzy last week just before the price increase. Impressed with the condition of the rifle. Light coat of cosmoline. Such a shine in the bore with strong rifling. Excellent + condition. Tight fit with a bullet test. Excellent crown. Dark, smooth, and shiny bluing. No wear anywhere on the metal. Stock has minor scratches or denting which gives it personality. Shiny bolt. Matching numbers colored in red. Nice trigger. Hope to shoot it soon to check accuracy and then store away and shoot the beat up Mosins. Have purchased from classic before and will again. Thinking on another M44. I've paid more for less, from another dealer. Some dealers at local gun shows speculate on the steady stream of Mosin Nagant rifles to go up in price because the word is out on Mosins. OR the supply to be cut off due to Ukraine war and sanctions on Russia. Treat yourself for the holidays.
Great variety in crate
Review by Jeff on 10/25/2014
Purchased the crate of twenty earlier this week, shipped same day I ordered. Contained 8 hex receivers and several ex dragoons and ex snipers. Pretty even mix of Tula / Izhevsk, from 1925 and up with a nice variety of dates. All I have cleaned so far appear to be in very good condition, and the crate shipped with matching # bayonets and 20 tool/cleaning kits. I am very pleased with the variety and condition of the rifles.

This is my first purchase from Classic Firearms and will not be my last. I got a nice 1942 Mosin Nagant the stock has some nicks in it but that just adds character to it. I was going to redo it but I am just going to leave it like it is. I ordered this gun on sunday and arrived at my dealer on Wednesday. I shot 15 rounds through it @ 100 yards and it is very accurate. I will be back to get another one. Thanks.

Review by Dan on 10/15/2014
This was my first order from Classic Firearms but it won't be my last. The rifle came just as described and rated. I was actually surprised how good this 72 year old surplus rifle did look. Except for the crown of the barrel all the bluing is intact. The wood was scuffed but completely solid, not a single crack or even a deep gouge. A once over the stock with some very fine steel wool blended the scuffs a bit. Once I ran a brush and few patches through the bore it looked brand new and it dosent appear this rifle has been counter bored. For safety I want to have the headspace checked before heading to the range but I can't wait to shoot this wonderful classic firearm. Oh and ordered this gun on a Sunday had it in my hands Thursday of the same week. Classic Firearms has my business.

I received my Mosin on time as promised. The Mosin is in great shape, all the numbers match. The finish on the stock is very nice. I was very surprised to see how clean the rifle was when it arrived. I purchased another Mosin from a different dealer and the rifle was covered cosmoline as they usually are, but the one from Classic Firearms was very clean. I'm very happy with this purchase.

THIS IS A NICE WEAPON THE VARNISH IS PEELING BUT THAT WAS EXPECTED ONCE REFINISHED EVERYTHING WILL LOOK LIKE NEW
Bore and function very good / Grade B+ cosmetically
Review by Eric on 9/29/2014
My first surplus military rifle purchase. Compared to the photos represented, the description and Mosin's I have seen (for more $ however) online and in local shops the cosmetics (wood stock mainly) of my 2 Mosins from Classic were not in the condition I was expecting. I received a 1936 (pre-war) and 1942 (wartime) both Izsevsk.

Good:
-Bores were both very bright with good rifling and no pitting (they did require some cleaning)
-The 1942 was the better looker between the two as it's stock was about 80% with some minor scratches in the shellac from handling.
-I shot the 1942 with about 80 rounds and with no adjustment and no bayonet was shooting tight groups at 50 yards very close to bullseye and I was hitting a metal target out to 200 yards right out of the box.
-Both rifles passed the headspace go and no-go gauges didn't even have to use the field guage.
-Both rifles have good, smooth actions with bolts and magazines that appear to be in very good condition.
-Virtually NO cosmoline to clean off but also no rust! (a little crud that had some rusty color right at the throat/chamber but it cleaned up well)

Bad:
-Both rifles showed some scratches and handling wear.
-The 1936 had a much smother bluing/finish to all the metal but it's stock looked like someone hammered nails with it (perhaps this will make it a valuable collectible one day though!)
-Both rifles had force matched magazines but all other numbers were original match (don't know how much this will effect value down the road).
-No leather pouches, no sling, bayonets do not have matching numbers and are about impossible to mount on the rifle.

Conclusion:
After seeing how well the one rifle shoots (accurate and without malfunction) and after searching the prices (higher) for even comparably looking Mosins, I have decided that at $175 delivered (including transfer fee) these rifles are a good value. Even if they may not arrive in the expected condition based on most reviews, photos and description they are still good shooters, decent collectibles and probably near the best price online. If you look at the worst conditioned rifles on Gunbroker you will see that they are priced from about $180 with an occasional one going for $150, these from Classic are not a bad deal. If you can find one at a local shop that you are able to inspect for $200 or less and it is satisfactory you may want to take it but otherwise, why not get one of these from Classic Firearms. You may end up with a rifle worth slightly more than the price but I don't think you can end up with one worth less.

I think I will try an M44 from Classic for my next milsurp purchase but now I will lower my expectation slightly.

Conclusion

The 91/30 I received from Classic Firearms is outstanding. It took a bit to clean but the wood and metal really shined up nice. It is a 1942 Izhevsk, the machine work is a bit rough but it adds character considering the situation in Russia in 1942. The bore is in great shape and the bolt is smooth after a touch of oil.
Overall a very nice rifle that I am sure would have some great stories to tell if it could talk. I will defiantly be ordering more of these rifles from Classic.
Nice, but not quite as expected
Review by David on 8/8/2014
First off, I have not yet fired this rifle but I am really looking forward to taking it to the range! It was covered in a nice coat of cosmoline when I opened the box, which was nice.

What I was not expecting, however, was the amount of dings and chips in the wood. Of course I wasn't expecting a pristine rifle considering its age, but this was a little bit of a let-down. There are even a few chips that are splintered enough to snag at my clothing. I would have expected this from a "grade B" Mosin-Nagant, but not one rated as "excellent condition". Luck of the draw, maybe...

I recently purchased a 91/30hex receiver, Classic treated me real good, the only problem when I cleaned it you can see where they cut an end section from the butt it goes on both sides. The metal anyway the barrel looks like they painted in black you could see the pitts through the black paint. This is the first time ordering for me so I thought maybe all the 91/30s are this way. As said before I was treated great by Claasic the only thing is I wish it was in a little better shape,be the way my Mosin has a lam.stock. Thanks,DC

Got lucky and Classic Firearms sent me a 1942 Izhevsk PU ex-sniper rifle with all matching numbers (no forced matching) and ORIGINAL stock. The stock has great character and had the scope cut-out spliced back up. Not a Ukrainian refurb. Great rifling as well. I bought this 91/30 to shoot since I had a pre-war hex Tula that I didn't really want to shoot. The down side is that I will now have to purchase another 91/30 since I really don't want to shoot this nice little piece of history.

This is the fourth mosin I have purchased, and by far it is the best. It's a 1942 Iveresk (I know that's wrong, but close enough) in beautiful condition. Took it to the range and was blown away! .5 MOA at 100 yards with 7N1 ammo. Nobody at the range could believe it, til' they shot it. You may be getting some new business very soon. Best purchase I have ever made. Keep it up Classic. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

I purchased my rifle about 3 weeks ago. I received a nice 1942 Mosin Nagant. I just missed out on the B grade rifles so hope they run that sale again. Anyway I paid 139$, but the bore was super clean. I shot 20 rounds at 50 yards. Shooting high and right. Still I got 17 out of 20 on a man size target. Need to get the rifle cleaned up. I hope to buy another soon.

Now having said that the bayonet that I received with the gun doesn't fit I figure it must be for a different Mosin I oiled it and everything it's definitely not for this model rifle which I'm definitely disappointed about and will be in contact with customer service on this issue

Review by Rodney on 5/24/2014
Took a while to get my 2 Mosin Galants. To my surprise, 1 was a 1936 Hex Receiver with matching numbers. Stock has some scratches and blueing is about 95%. Completely disassembled entire rifle to inspect and clean (Took about 4 hours). A little elbow grease and some lindseed oil on the stock and it came out very nice. I was going to use it as a plinker, but now I am considering another one for that purpose. The other was a 1943 round receiver which I bought for my son. Excellent condition with a nice stock. He hasn't cleaned it yet, but the action is great and it should be an easy clean up. Thank you for making my first rifle purchase on the internet easy. At 55 years old, I had my apprehensions about buying rifles this way. All I can say is my purchase far exceeded what you advertised.

Placed an order for 18 Mosins, I could not be happier with the selection and service I received. Out of the 18, 2 were hex, several Tulas. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of cosmoline that can packed into these rifles.
First purchase and definately pleased!

I bought a master-pack of five rifles a couple of weeks ago and they arrived at my FFL within a couple of days. Very smooth communication and transaction, and some very beautiful rifles! I'll be giving three of them as gifts as soon as I get them all cleaned up and test-fired. I highly recommend Classic Firearms and will definately be ordering from them again.
Great weapon in great shape!
Review by Cromarty Ladd on 3/31/2014
A great piece of history that came in great shape. After three days in mineral spirits it cleaned up like new. A few minor cosmetic rubs on the end of the barrel where the bayonet attaches and some minor rubs on the wood stock. All in all, a great buy that I can't wait to take to the range.
Ok-ish
Review by Edward on 3/30/2014
Well this is my first Mosin I ever got. Cosmetically the gun is ok on the outside, no rust. Upon field stripping I found it was missing the ejector/interrupter, screw. (That's a $5 screw sadly).
The bore is not all that great, lots of pitting almost the entire length except for maybe the last 4 inches. The rifling looks strong but I'm guessing on that because I haven't gauged it.
Its gonna be one of those bores you will have to clean religiously even when you don't shoot it to keep the pitting from getting any worse.
Not really looking for that kind of commitment myself, I think this might be better in someone else hands. For a first go around its ok I guess, had I seen this gun in person however I would have passed for what thats worth.
Classic seems to be a nice place to do business with though, no problems with the order end of it. Good Luck
1938 Tula in excellent condition!
Review by Igor on 3/28/2014
I’ve got a 1938 Tula with matching numbers, bayonet, sling, field tools, oiler and two sets of ammo pouches. The condition is truly amazing, it’s by far exceeded my most optimistic expectations – the bore is shiny, everything is in great condition. I’m not even sure it this rifle had ever been fired. Great service from Classic! Very happy customer here! Thanks!

I bought a Grade B Mosin first and was real happy with it, it did have a couple minor issues I ironed out and now is a good shooter. After getting then infected with the mosin bug ordered 2 of the "excellent" Mosins, was a little dissapointed, will have to put a sight on one, the metal was just spryed over with junk black instead of blued, and the bore in one is all but missing rifling. Shoulda just stuck with the B Grade....
Very nice at a low price.

I received a war time production(1943) round receiver from the Izhevsk. All the serial numbers of the major components were the same. The woodwork was in excellent condition and the bore was bright and shiny. No excessive cleaning was necessary to prepare the rifle for the range. A good shooter. Another classic item from Classic Arms.
My 1938 Mosin Nagant

I received my 1938 Mosin Nagant M91/30 long rifle yesterday, dismantled it and removed the cosmoline from all it's nukes and crannies. It felt like Christmas morning! All the serial numbers match, furniture and metal are all in great condition. I couldn't be happier with my purchase from Classic Firearms. Can't wait to get to the range!

I wanted a nice M91/30 that I didn't have to put in a different stock. I ordered two and got what I wanted. Really nice wood stocks - with a few knicks in one and the other was pretty much perfect. Bores look really good. All in all, a very good buy! Thanks again, Classic!
Excellent value

Just received my 1938 Tula. Half the fun is opening the box to see what you ended up with. My FFL commented that is was one of the nicest M91/30's he had ever seen. Very happy with my purchase and I love the customer service from Classic. Thinking of buying another one before they are all gone.

A great shooter.
Review by Jumpin Billy on 2/28/2014
My recently purchased hundred dollar Mosin Nagant 91/30 came to me ready to fire, although I still gave her a quick cleanup. In excellent shape for a 1942 manufacture date. All I added was a surplus sling. All matching numbers, except bayonet. I'm proud to add this fine example of Russian history to my collection. Billy
Good investment
Review by Ralph on 2/26/2014
Bought a box of five of these. Cleaned up really nice. Haven't had chance to shoot them yet. Bores were all good. No brushes in cleaning kits though. No big deal. With bayonets, which I had been warned about then not fitting, all I had to do was use a Dremel pencil attachment grinding tip to ever so slightly grind the inside loop that slides over barrel. They all fit perfectly now. Going to try and attach picture of two of them
Nice Gun
Review by Chris on 2/23/2014
I picked up my Russian M91/30 rifle yesterday. It took a little while to clean, but underneath the packing grease was a beautiful 1938 Tula rifle with matching numbers. The stock was in great condition for a 76 year old weapon. My children enjoyed learning about the history of the rifle from the markings. I can't wait to get it on the range. I'm looking to buy a M44 Carbine next, I hope the condition of those are the same.
Purchased a crate
Review by Jeremy on 2/16/2014
I told my wife I was looking to buy a new rifle to add to my military collection. When I explained the 91/30 to her she said it sounded like fun and to go ahead. I contacted Classic Firearms and came home with a crate full.

In the crate there were six hex receiver one ex-dragoon, one ex-sniper, and several Tulas. I couldn't have been happier with my purchase. There was not a single rifle in the crate I would hesitate to take to the range, and I haven't.

I gave my brother, father and father-in-law each a rifle as a gift and they were all impressed.

I expected the guns to be overly covered in cosmoline but they weren't and only took about an hour to clean to a level to be ready for the range. This was my first purchase from Classic Firearms and I will continue to purchase weapons from them in the future.
Outstanding service and great rifles!
Review by Mike on 2/15/2014
This was my first purchase from Classic and will not be my last! Ordered two rifles in early December and they were delivered to my FFL 3 days after placing the order.

The two Izhevsk rifles I received were exactly as advertised. They were produced in 1941 and 1943. Magazine floor plate serial number was force matched on the '43 while the magazine floor plate and butt plate were forced matched on the '41. Neither was counter bored and both bores were in excellent condition. Wood on both showed some minor wear but was overall excellent condition. Each was complete in every detail including the sling inserts in the stock. They cleaned up so well I don't plan on doing anything more to them!

Both rifles came with complete accessories (cleaning kit, oiler, bayonet and sling) and 5 magazine pouches each. My father was very pleased with his Christmas present, the '41.

Finally had a chance to try out my '43. Was very pleased with accuracy using PPU 182gr FMJ ammo. Was only able to fire a few rounds at the end of a session. Can't wait to take it back out and see what it can do at longer ranges.

If the first session is any indication I may look to mount a scope on it. Probably a Brass Stacker mount for a long eye relief scope. Allows for the iron sites to still be used and you can quickly and easily return the rifle to it's original condition.

Couldn't be happier with this transaction and the quality of merchandise delivered by Classic! Will definitely look to them for any future purchases I make.
Like Christmas morning!

This 1938 Tula is one of my nicest guns. The stock is outstanding and the bolt action is smooth. It's a forced matching number but not the bayonet. Not counter bored too. What a great price also! Classic has a great site with dependable service.

I was really timid to order a Mosin off of the internet just based on info I read through the internet and people I know. Cabelas was out and after reading the reviews and others gun photos on the site, I DO NOT REGRET my purchase one bit!! I got a 1942 Izzy, what a pretty gun now that the cosmoline is removed. I get to shoot it finally this weekend. I would definitely order from Classic Firearms in the future!

Review by Kyle on 2/4/2014
Great job classic firearms, communication was great, shipping was fast even with the winter storm that hit us here on the east coast.

Rifle is in very good shape. Wood is good, barrel is shiny. Only my receiver and bolt have matching numbers. The buttstock plate is a different number and the ammo release on the bottom of the rifle had one serial number that was crossed out and then the same number as the bolt was scribed in next to it???? Not sure if this is normal or not. I was hoping for all matching numbers (with exception of bayonet of course). That is really the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. I am looking forward to some range time!!!!
Great rifle, Great experience!
Review by Scott on 1/28/2014
My first purchase from Classicfirearms and it will definitely not be the last. I have wanted one of these Russian beauties for awhile and finally went for it. The ad didn't say it would be a hex but that's what I got! What a great surprise. Wood was in very good shape, no finger marks and even had the brass trim pieces and the metal inserts for the sling. I have seen these in gun shops without any of that, priced a lot higher! Bore is bright and looks nice, all the numbers matched except the bayonet but that's no big deal. On a side note, all my communications with Classicfirearms was responded to quickly and shipping to my pick-up point was reasonable and quick. Thanks Classicfirearms for a pleasant experience.

Received my M91/30 a few weeks ago. Packed in a pretty good lathering of cosmoline. All matching number, 1939 Tula. Great condition all around. But after I wiped it all down, I could tell that some of the shellac was a little chipped on the bottom edge in a couple of spots. Really doesn't bother me because after thoroughly cleaning & degreasing all parts individually, underneath all that was a really nice and pretty rifle, worthy of any collection. Only issue, was delivery (around the holidays) was much longer than I think I would tolerate again in the future.

This was my first transaction with Classic Firearms, or any online firearms merchant. To say that I am pleased is an understatement. I received a 1939 Tula in exceptional condition. My Son has a '39 Tula as well, and we are a couple thousand serial numbers apart. All serial numbers match, stock is in very good condition and the rifle just looks great. Much nicer than the ones I bought for my 2 Sons at a large store, at a higher price. So, I am very happy with this purchase, I am very happy with Classic Firearms and I look forward to doing more business with Classic in the very near future as well. Thank you!

I cannot say anything bad about this rifle it is my 3rd mosin and it is in great condition, all matching numbers except for the bayonet (which was to be expected) overall condition 93% out of 100. not too much cosmoline on it the remainder cleaned off quickly with mineral spirits. Minute of Angle Shooter!
Review by PreacherMan on 8/24/2013
Grab these while you can! They're not getting any cheaper, and they won't get any better sitting in a warehouse. Talk to your local mechanic about throwing the parts in his hot tank - knocks most of the cosmoline right off. Since this is my second Mosin, I chopped six inches off the barrel, re-crowned it, mounted a RockSolid scope mount and bolt, and then dropped it into a Pachmayr Archangel stock. I just got back from dialing it in at the range. Right close to minute of angle off-hand. Not bad for an old Jarhead with a 80 year old rifle! While your here, grab a case of ammo too. (You'll be surprised how quick it goes when your friends see your dolled up 'new' rifle). Thanks Classic!

Great Rifle.
Review by Joel on 7/31/2013
I have had this rifle for a couple of years. After reviewing many reviews on Youtube, none are quite like mine. The one I have has brass half-rings instead of the black painted steel ones. These are the 2 rings along the barrel. The bore is perfect, and operation is perfect. It is very accurate and a pleasure to shoot. Also, ALL of the numbers matched, including the bayonet, and nothing was force matched. This must have been a "parade" rifle and wasn't fired much. Thanks Classic!
Very happy with my purchases
Review by David on 7/30/2013
I recently purchased 2 Mosin Nagants and was not sure exactly what I would get. When the FFL dealer opened the boxes to show me the firearms, I was very pleasantly surprised. Even coated in cosmoline, I could see the firearms were beautiful and in great shape. Instead of the hard, dried coating I had read about, the firearms had a light coating of a light weight grease that wiped off easily. One of them was dated 1943, with a pinetar finish that is in great shape, with a bore that is bright and shiny. All matching numbers except the bayonet. The other turned out to be an ex-sniper, with all matching parts, a beech stock that is in great shape and a bore that is shiny and bright. I can't wait to shoot them. I'm very happy with my purchase and the service from Classic couldn't have been better. I'll be buying more in the furtue I'm sure of that. I'd recommend their site to anyone interested in WWII firearms. Thanks

Review by Ace16 on 7/15/2013
Gun was shipped promptly and I had it in hand within a week. Gun came absolutley caked in cosmo which was okay as the cleaning of it allowed me to get familiar with the gun. The bore and all metal parts were in very good condition with a few small blemishes (rough spots) here and there on the exterior. The stock was beautiful and had very few scratches. No refinishing needed.

The only complaint I have is that the gun fires high. After firing about 150 rds I have noticed that the gun consistantly fires high, around 2 feet high at 200yrds (no, I did not have the near site elevated, it was was set to the appropriate distance). Hopefully I can adjust the far site somewhat to help with this.
This purchase was fun and educational ....and came with some fine fully functional combat rifles
This was just a fun purchase for me...I own a few other rifles (all new) but these rifles are beast....and they deliver a big round for cheap!
great value, fulfilled expectations
Review by Big John on 7/4/2013
Mosie arrived as expected. Cleaned her up and went to the range where I managed a 2" group @ 100 yards. Impressive for a rifle made in 1942. I do plan to do more business with Classic Firearms, at the least one more "Mosie"& plenty of ammo. Thanks for making a classic available. Next time I will send pics or video.
Very Good Deal
Review by BigsWick on 6/26/2013
I ordered 2 of these rifles and was sent 2 Tulas, a 1938 and a 1943. Nice bonus! Neither was counterbored. Both were force matched, but look really solid. Stocks are repair free and the bores look good. Should make great shooters. I'm pretty happy!

If you are on the fence about getting one of these rifles I'd advise going ahead and making a purchase. Lots and lots of inexpensive fun, and the prices everywhere keep creeping up. Who knows how much longer you'll be able to get one fresh from storage, still coated with cosmoline, and with all the accessories?
great deal
Review by Robert on 6/16/2013
I have two of these mosin nagant rifles. The first one I purchased from another dealer, it has a laminated stock. This one from classic has hardwood stock and its is a blonde and man is it cool. this rifle appears to not have been used very much. There was only a small size spot of rust that had been repaired by the armory years ago it was only as big around as a pencil eraser, and that was under the stock. this rifle came with cosemoline on it but was very easy to remove with windex. so don't be scared of having to clean if you never had to before it only took an hour or so for me and this rifle is so very Easley broken down that I think anyone can do it. just youtube it you will see. this rifle with only a slight adjustment to front sight I was hitting four inch targets at two hundred yards with just the open sights on this rifle I do not like scopes if you hit the scope against something it with be off so I only shoot with open sights on the guns I use. the fact this one is so old and is still spot on is amazing. the guys that come to range with those thousand dollar plus ar15 and no idea how to shoot without scope and even with scope not able to hit the target. with as tight of a group as I do with this C&R rifle is so funny that I always seem to make someone mad they say will I just don't have this scope set yet an leave shaking their heads. I am no sharp shooter by any means but alittle time and a few hundred rounds or so and you too will be better then you thought. so buy this rifle its the best $139.99 I have ever spent I enjoy shooting and this gun allows me to do that for very cheap. Just do it

I have ordered several mosins from Classic Firearms and all have been very nice, top quality rifles but...... I just got my most recent in today and im not happy with it at all. There are terrible machining marks all over the gun and especially the receiver. I do not know why this was such a bad egg but with the prices rising its hard to justify when you receive such a poor rifle like this. Not saying that all of them are like that because this is the first to come like this!! But highly unhappy non the less. I wish they still had the hand pick option cause I would have paid $10 more for a much nicer rifle. Thanks anyway!!
1938 & 1942
Review by Pete on 6/13/2013
I received my two rifles a few weeks ago and after finally getting around to cleaning them up I am pleased with what I received. the 1938 model is in near perfect unused condition and the bayonet fit right on perfectly. As for my 1942 model, you can tell it has been used. A lot of the bluing is patched on the magazine area, and barrel with what looks like a quick half-hazard paint job, the stock of the rifle is in excellent condition, which is ho I assume these are graded. the bayonet had o be bored out a bit with a file and dremmel, but it fit on well after. Overall, I am pleased with the service, speed and products I received for the price, and got what I wanted, a rifle to shoot and peat around, and a rifle to keep for good. excellent service Classic.

I had high hopes for my "new mosin". I recieved a mosin with a large stock splice/fix and the bolt and magazine are not original serial numbered but are electropencil matched as is the but plate. We'll have to see how it shoots. I think an excellent condition rifle should have a better stock. Maybe I'm just unlucky. My last two classic rifles were 100% perfect.
I love this gun!

I absolutely love my Mosin. I received a 1940 Tula and couldn't be happier. I love owning a piece of history. This was my first transaction with Classic, but It won't be the last. I do wish the accessories were packed separate to prevent the cosmoline from getting on the sling and ammo pouches.
GREAT GUNS!

I ordered another mosin nagant from classic firearm and it was a very nice used mil-surp-got my moneys;s worth. when I ordered this one, didn't no what to expect you know. Well what I recieved was hard to believe. This rifle honestly looks like it has NEVER been fired. the lower forearm finish is cracked-just the finish not the wood. The bore is brand new-chamber has no visable wear with a boresight and the go- no go headspace gage is perfect. I can not find any wear anywhere on this rifle. I have other guys look at it also. I know the next one will not be like this one but that is OK- Thanks Classic - order up!
Awesome

Got two 1943 Izzys. One was all stamped, the other was electropenciled. Stocks weren't perfect, but in amazing shape considering they are 70 years old. Cleaning them took forever, well preserved with cosmoline. Neither barrel was counter-bored.

Would highly recommend anyone buying these get a firewerks or Okie headspace gauge and check the headspace before firing them. Both headspaces were fine on my Mosins.
Great product

I received the 91-30 rifle very quickly, had it in my hands almost a week after ordering. I am amazed at the quality and operation of a 70+ year old rusky rifle. All numbers matched except the bayonet. Can't wait to take to range.
packing issues
Review by am on 5/23/2013
I haven't had a chance to clean and fire my Mosin yet but based on looks alone it appears to be a really nice rifle. I did have one issue withe the transaction though. The rifle arrived completely caked in cosmoline, which is fine. I don't have a problem with that although they could have given it a quick wipe down (that is, I'm assuming they do open the box and inspect it) My problem is that they just throw it in a box along with the accessories (bayonet, sling, ammo pouches, manual, tool kit, etc) with out at least wrapping it in plastic first. The accessories were in a bag that was torn open and all the leather, canvas, sling and the manual was completly saturated with cosmoline. You can imagine what a mess that is. The rifle is also just loose in the box and when I received it the muzzle was sticking out the end of the box, Luckily it didn't appear to be damaged. They had sent an e-mail asking for feedback but when I called I just got a talking head that just kept repeating company policy to me. Not exactly what I was hoping to hear. Anyway, I just asked if I could get another manual (which amount to a folded 12" x 11" piece of paper) since mine was pretty much wasted, and I sure as hell couldn't put it in my file with my other gun related papers, but was told that they don't have any?? Ever hear of a copy machine, or a scanner? I find it very hard to believe that they don't have a single manual laying around that they could send send, e-mail or copy. Anyway, happy with the gun so far but very disappointed with their packing and customer service. They had also sent an e-mail requesting a review of this product which I didn't want to do because I didn't want to write anything negative, which is why I called first, but since that didn't go very well I figured I'd honor their request
Very happy

Well I just got one of these rifles. I'm not happy the price has gone up but I didn't think these guns would be under $100 forever. I'm pretty happy with the rifle I got. It was coated in cosmo and there is still quite a bit dried in the bore that I will have to shoot out but it should clean out great. The rifle I got was from 1943 and all matching. It is all a bit rough, likely from being mid-war made, but still beautiful.
Excellent conditioned item. Clean it up and it's ready to go! Love this rifle!

I got my Russian Mosin Nagant 91/30, a few days ago. First off, very fast service. Took about a solid week from Classic to me. My only real complaint is the shipping box was a little flimsy and opened. My rifle was a 1940, Izhevsk, all numbers matched. Stock had tiny dings here and there, but overall real nice. I'm no gunsmith or expert, but after cleaning it up, the bolt looked real nice, as all the metal. There are a lot of you tube videos on cleaning the cosmoline, but I know some guys into these Soviet/Russian rifles, and Mineral Sprits and boiling water work great!! The guys I know that own these love them. For less $$ than a nice pellet gun, you get a great shooting rifle. and even A good hunting rifle. My FFL dealer here in CT, Omega Armament in Bristol, gave Classic great reviews on the rifles he sees coming out. I think I'm going to get the 5 deal special and a crate of ammo. Hopefully Classic gets more other rifles in soon that are out of stock. All in all, great buy, great rifle and a great company...

I picked up my 91/30 Mosin last week.

It was just the way you want it: absolutely packed in cosmoline.

I cleaned her up over the weekend.

This one is a numbers matching 1937 Izzy that does not appear to have been used much at all. Expectations have certainly been exceeded.

I have purchased several firearms from these folks. Wonderful on all levels. You will not go wrong. Highly recommended; I will be back for more, for sure.

Thanks Classic!

Rifle was OK for an old military surplus. Stock was in decent shape, but parts of the metal had been painted by the arsenal. Bore looks good. Have not got to shoot it yet. I went a little crazy with this one and refinished it with a green and walnut stain(See Customer Photos). Overall, I am happy with my purchase.

I ordered the dealer pack of five and received them in about four days. Pretty good turnaround. The boxes were, as promised, unmolested and the guns were in GREAT shape. Three Izzys ('41,'42, '43 including a lighter colored stock that just screamed beautiful) and two Tulas ('43 and '38). All stamped matching, all non-counterbored, and all in near perfect condition stock and blueing wise. Overall, cannot complain. I sell these to customers all the time as hog guns and collectors bits, but I had to keep the '42 Izzy for myself...just was too darn pretty. Great work Classic!

Review by Rich on 5/10/2013
Got my first 91/30 from CAs a few weeks ago. Have not shot it yet, but the condition is what I would like to pass on. Site stated gun was in very good condition. I'm very picky to the extreme some would say. Thought I was getting a project gun for only $150ish delivered. Well, when I picked it up it was covered with that @&$! stuff we all love. After a hour or so of cleaning, I could finally see what I had. It was not very good like CA stated it was. It was in outstanding shape considering the age (1943). I don't think it was ever used by military. It has handling marks on the stock here and there from handling, but all metal parts look unused. Very happy with this gun. Can't wait to go shoot it! Oh ya, great price on 440 large rifle rounds too. Highly recommend! Rich

Excellent Rifles
Review by Delegate Bob on 4/29/2013
When I received an email from Yosemite Sam asking for my thoughts on my two Mosins from Classic I just new I had to give a write up. NO one says no to that Varmint.

Anyway, the gun smith at the Virginia FFL dealer looked at my two MN's from Classic. He declared one was new, never used, and the other was barely used. All serial numbers matched on both rifles.

I had previously purchased one excellent hex model MN from Classic, and am glad I bought these two as well.
Better than expected
Review by Tony on 4/25/2013
Not being offered a hand pick option , I half expected something a bit "battle worn" - not a huge concern since this rifle was to be reserved for an Archangel stock that I'd ordered. After wiping the cosmo off , I was very surprised - a 1942 Izzy that looks brand new with a beautiful red stock (solid with no repairs) and minimal bumps 'n dings- just enough to give it character . All numbers matched except the bayonet -again , not a concern . I have concluded that I'll have to order another since this one is too nice to part out

This was not my first purchace from Classic Firearms and certainly won't be my last - I have held many Mosins in many Gun shops and most would feel very loose in their stocks - wall hangers in my opinion, and closer to $200 than what these folks are offering. I have been extremely pleased with all my purchases so far and won't hesitate to make another , like when the Swiss K11 or K31's are back in stock *hint hint*

Thanks Classic guys !

As we all know..my 1943 Izzy was covered in cosmiline..I mean its what they did to preserve it, and man did it do a good job at that! Absolutly no rust, bright and shiny bore, all matching parts (except bayo) & minor dings at BEST..i mean un-noticeable..and just all in all a beautiful gun. Took about a week to get here and had it all cleaned up by the end of the night..very pleased with it.

1942 Izzy
Review by Deadly in OKC on 4/22/2013
Brutus is right again with his description. This 1942 Izzy was obviously made before the Soviet Union/Russia got too hot and heavy into WWII and definitely before the Battle of Stalingrad. The finish on the barrel and receiver were excellent craftsmanship compared to most 1943 - 1944 Mosin-Nagants during increased wartime production. Barrel rifling is very good to excellent all the way - - no counter-boring. Will tame the recoil with another 15 X 1 RH Type 74 CNC Warrior muzzle brake. Can't wait to take it to the range and watch the "whipped' males squirm when this "boomstick" makes them wish they had better ear protection. Thanks, again, Classic Arms!

Bought two of this lot, received both promptly. Even with the copious amounts of cosmoline, these guns appear to be 99%. Both had matching handguards, no major nicks or dings in the wood, and were all matching (I have not checked yet to see if the bayonets do or don't match). Two beautiful rifles that anyone would be proud to own.

I ordered a 20 rifle crate and I am extremely happy with the purchase. Classic has excellent customer service and the transaction was easy (except for picking up the crate – very heavy). Of the 20 that I purchased – 9 had hex receivers (5 being Tula). Excellent condition with just a few nicks here and there. All had bayonets with matching serial numbers. In the bottom of the crate was a false bottom containing the original cleaning kits. The 5 piece kit is complete except for the original pouch. I received much more than expected – thanks Classic!

I received my Mosin Nagant about 30 days ago. I don't enjoy giving negative reviews, but I'll have to this time. First I have to say..."What do you expect from a low price?" I was hoping for a little better. I'll have to refinish the stock. The metal pieces (all 4) on the stock for the strap are missing. I should be able to find some. You guys do a great job and I will be back.
I was just a little disappointed. mike

Review by Brian on 3/23/2013
I ordered the crate of 20 Mosin Nagants. I was expecting to get a crate of 20 round receiver Mosins with no accessories. I was hoping to get one laminated stock out of the 20 rifles. I did not get one at all. Instead, I got something much much better. I received no less than 8 numbers matching (meaning no arsenal force matched parts) Hex receivers, of which at least 3 of them are ex-dragoons. I am not sure about the rest of the Hexes, I am still researching them. I also had 4 numbers matching (also meaning NO FORCE MATCHED PARTS) round receiver Mosins. Three of them are pre-WWII construction. The rest all had either a force matched magazine floor plate or a force matched butt plate. All of the rifles had matching bolt, receiver and either floor plate or butt plate. None of them had more than one force matched part. Also, out of the 20 rifles, 4 of them are "MO" marked which surprised me. All in all, I am VERY pleased with the contents of the crate. I was also pleased with the speed of shipping and the courtesy that customer service showed during the ordering process. If I had to find something to complain about, it would be that the crate was in worse shape then I expected. I plan on turning it into a coffee table but I am not sure if I will be able to do that without a lot of work. The dividers are all soaked in cosmoline and became weak and broke so I will have to find someone to make new ones for me (I do not do woodworking. I suck at it). The corners of the crate are also in bad shape. Either way, even though the crate is in bad shape, the rifles were in almost pristine shape and worth way more than the price I paid for them. Thanks Classic Firearms, you have a customer for life now.
Something for Everyone
Review by Andrew on 3/22/2013
I ordered the crate of 20. Customer support was excellent, and delivery was timely. As mentioned in other reviews, not all were round receiver as the ad stated, but that is a good thing. As stated, there were no slings or ammo pouches when ordered by the crate, but the tool kits were still included. 3 Tulas, 2 hex receivers, 4 laminated stocks, and 5 brass tipped hand guards. Approximately half were from the late 1930s, and half were wartime production. Prewar rifles had better cosmetics and finish, but they also had very well worn (some also speckled) barrels. Wartime rifles, while uglier on the outside (mill marks, deleted escutcheons, etc), had excellent bores, and will be great shooters. ALL had numbers matching bolts, receivers, floor-plates, butt-plates, and bayonets. The non-serialized bits (barrel bands, assorted bolt components) did not always match, but that is expected of arsenal refinished rifles. Expect to spend a while cleaning out the cosmoline, and the wood will start sweating it when the barrel gets warm with use. Import marks are etched/engraved on the left side of the receiver just forward of the bolt. They are clear, but not distracting.
Overall, I am happy with the purchase. Some are good for collecting, others for shooting, but there is something for everyone when you order a crate.
I would purchase another case when in stock anytime when I can afford it
Review by steven on 3/14/2013
I recently purchased a case of these for partial investment and trades for other C&R items later. They came in a timely manner and I did not have a long wait. I assumed that there would be only round receivers and no accessories since it was listed as such, but the folks at Classic were "slightly" wrong. The case contained 20 extremly nice rifles 7 with hex receivers, none had any beat up stocks, with only minor nicks on a few. The refurbishing was excellent, they all almost looked new, and the numbers all matched. What I ended up getting were:

10 IZZYS from 1940-45
1924 IZZY Dragoon
1925 IZZY Dragoon
1929 IZZY
1931 IZZY
1932 Tula
1934 Tula (2)
1937 IZZY
1938 Tula
1940 Tula (too bad not a 41)

I got these delivered in the rain and since I could not get the case in the house I had to remove them and take them in 2 at a time when it stopped. While after cleaning them off and waiting for everything to dry (it was still a little misty out, but I could not wait anymore), I examined the shipping crate and noticed a false bottom on it which was filled with the cleaning kits and oil bottles.

In October 2012 I bought a 5 pack of the Mosin Nagants rolling the dice and hoping for at least one Tula and/or hex receiver. I received neither.

BUT I received 5 Mosin Nagants in superb condtion and I am very happy with this purchase.

I am a confirmed customer of Classic Firearms. Even with shipping costs and FFL transfer fees the bargains at Classic can't be beat! And the quality of the products I receive from Classic far exceeds anything I can buy at my local gun shops.

Review by Tim on 11/27/2012
This was my first purchase from Classic Firearms and was not what I was expecting. Shortly after placing my order for my Mosin I noticed that they were out of stock and became a little concerned that since I had never ordered from CF before, only ordered 1 rifle (when they were selling them by the case) I would end up with a dog. Honestly for around $100 I was planning on having a project gun and had already started planning to refinish or replace the stock, duracoat the metal and install a scope mounted scope. Everything changed when I pulled this thing out of the box and peeled off the bubble wrap. Beneath a HEAVY coat fo cosmoline the stock was gorgeous (aside from a crack in the but that had been repaired), the bluing/paint (what ever it is) on the barrel is in great shape and the icing on the cake - all of the serial numbers match. Now I don't want to chance damaging the rifle by replacing the rear sight with a scout mount. My only concern at this point is that there is no finish on the end of the barrel as if it has been freshly crowned which I've read probably means it has been counter bored. honestly don't care as long as it shoots well. Seriously already considering buying at least 1 or 2 more if/when they are available again. Very impressed with this gun so far. There is something infectious about holding these pieces of history.

The Mosin rifle is by far the best value milsurp rifle available today. Sure, the bolts clunky and it's a mile long with the bayonet on, but the ammo is super cheap when you buy surplus, and they are in general very accurate once your rifles favorite ammo. I'm pretty sure you can run these over with a panzer and they will still work like you got it from the assembly line at the Tula factory. My mosin was the first milsurp in my collection and still one of my favorites!
Excellent
Review by Deputy on 11/18/2012
Just got my Model 91/30 yesterday. It had a light coating of preservative on the stock and a little heavier on the metal parts. It is a 1942 Tula. The color of the stock was a reddish-brown similar to postwar M1 Garands I own. I am 100% satisfied with the rifle and the only minor problem is the inside of the barrel. It had a preservative coating and it appears they applied it over carbon fouling. It's turning out to be a real pain to clean up. But the rifling is sharp and it looks shiny under the crud. I may have gotten the last one of these, since they wentr out of stock immediately after I ordered mine.
Better then most you will find
Review by Brandon on 11/9/2012
So where to start. Firstly dealing with CFR was easy and hassle free. Ordered 5 over the phone, had them the next week and overall a pleasure to do business with. On the rifles I guess I will start with the bad. The first thing is these rifles should not be marked X-cellent. They should be marked good. I have bought excellent MN rifles and these are not. But a lot better then most you will see at Big 5. One was forced match, one had extensive stock repair. 4 out of five have very stiff bolts and one is very tight. This is not a cleaning issue but just a 70 yr old gun issue. Also three of the bayonets are very tight and will not lock all the way becoming useless and none of the bayonets match. Patchy black paint on 3 out of 5 including the tips of the barrels and bluing was gone under the paint. Bluing was about 80% average on all rifles. Also all rifles were counter bored from 3/4 to 1 1/2 inches. This is all expected with these rifles but they should be marked from good to very good and not excellent. But here is the good news.

1925 USSR Tula ex-dragoon all matching very good condition
1932 Izzy Hex all matching good condition
1938 Izzy Round very good condition and all matching
1942 Izzy Round all matching good condition
1944 Tula Round ex PU sniper good condition unfortunately a lot of markings have been ground then re-blued when it was re-arsenaled back to an infantry rifle

I think the best thing about ordering the master pack is you don't know what you are going to get. It is like Christmas and as you can see I lucked out and got some good ones. All the bores are about the same the dragoon being the darkest but all having a lot of life left in the rifling. All in all I am happy with my purchase mainly for what I got and the price is so much better then a lot of places especially Big 5. I would definitely buy from again and I fully understand what I am buying, however I do think the X-cellent grading is a false statement and a lot of people would expect like new surplus rifles like my unissued 1953 polish M44.

So to sum up, this is a great deal and you have a chance to get some great historical rifles with about a 70-80% condition. Role the dice and get the master pack!

All the best,
Brandon

Mostly nice
Review by Ho on 11/2/2012
Bought a package of 5, 4 were very nice including a Tula and Izzy Octagonal (yea!). The last rifle was in poor shape, if it was arsenally re-finished it was done by a wino. I could see brush marks on the barrel and magazine where it was painted (forced match). Finish was flaking; Pitted receiver on outside rear. Bore doesn't look that hot, but only one I've cleaned up the cosmoline. I'll shoot it this weekend. Other 4 were beautiful rifles. I'll shoot the odd one and put the rest away. Still very pleased. All assessories were mint.

I received this rifle about a month ago but didnt want to review it until I was able to shoot it. Now that I have I can say this rifle is great all around. I got a 1941 Izzy that appears it was only test fired. This rifle shot great and the action was very smooth. I was thinking about replacing the stock with a monte carlo but the wood is in such great condition that the more I look at it the more I want to keep it as is. A brass stacker will complete this rifle for me. This is my first purchase from classic and I couldn't be happier. Can't wait to get a few more.

I received my 91/30 today, and it's in excellent condition. Minor dents and scratches, but they just add to the mystery of it's use in another life. All serial numbers match. Barrel looks to be in great condition. It is covered in oil/cosmo and will need a tear down. I am disappointed that the sling, tool pouch, and ammo pouch have a small amount of cosmo on them. The oiler is *covered* in cosmo. All of these parts were in a large plastic bag together. I'm not holding Classic responsible for the cosmo on the accessories, as I knew what I was getting into. I purchased on 10/18 (Thursday) and received it today - Tuesday, 10/23. It was shipped via UPS with signature required. The kit came complete with the gun, sling, bayonet, oiler, 2 pouches (each a dual pouch), and a full tool kit. I'm very happy with my purchase and Classic Firearms has definitely earned my business. I've already purchased more arms from them.
Pretty nice for the$$$$

Nice 5 Pack of 91/30 Mosins
Review by James on 10/18/2012
Received my 5 pack of Mosins in good order. All were Izhevsk, one was a hex 1932, one a round receiver 1942 and the other three round 1943s. All were stamped matching, a few had mag plate lineouts, all were saturated in cosmoline. and had the usual bayonets, tool kits, etc....Nothing rare or unusual, all were in good condition and are a good value for the price. I'm happy with my purchase.
Fantastic Job!!

cleaned off the cosmo and found a 1938 Tula with numbers matching.

left the wood as is, since its good looking enough. polished the bolt and re-painted the original factory stamp.

its a great and accurate gun with a lot of power behind it.

currently hanging on my wall, and comes down everytime i go shooting.
unbelievable!!!

Unbelievable service from Classic Firearms! Ordered my Master Pack of 5 rifles Wednesday and received it in TN on Friday. 2 Tulas, 2 hex receivers, 1 MO marked and all great looking stocks. It is risky to buy an unopened (boxes had never been opened) Master Pack, but I took the risk and am glad I did. Classic Firearms has the best customer service in the industry these days (I remember when that wasn't the case a while back). Still can't believe how fast I received these!
I know it's a 70 year old rifle but it does say X ( For X-Cellent )
Review by kebe on 10/7/2012
I wise I could say this was all good the rifle looks great wood is good ,looked like a nice rifle, and that's why it got 3 stars

so I started to clean it up looked at the barrel end The barrel was counter bored about 1.5" and re-crowned then looked at the rifling it's worn down not sure if I want to even shoot this thing, what else is worn out and is it safe to fire I do not know I do not have the tools to check every thing

I am no expert even I can see there are no edges just smooth bumps barely that at the receiver end(receiver just has marks in metal where the rifling was ) to
the rifling I have cleaned it so it's not dirty,

I know it's a 70 year old rifle and I was not expecting new but it does say X ( For X-Cellent ) but next time if there is one I would like to have one hand selected and bore checked

I do not blame classic firearms they just shipped the rifles on ,in future I think I need to see what am buying before I hand over cash buying online is a risk and I lost with this one
Get them while you can

Rifles Great--Accessories Trash
Review by Curt on 10/5/2012
Bought 5. Rifles were in excellent condition-just as described. All Tulas. Very happy with them.

Classic does, however, need to tell the brain surgeons at Century that when they throw a useless oil bottle literally caked in cosmoline into a plastic bag together with other items made of leather and cloth, the cosmoline gets on the leather and cloth items and doesn't go away. Only those wishing to walk around the range stinking of cosmoline want that crap on their slings and ammo pouches. So the only accessory of any value is the useless oil can.

Good job by Classic scoring some high quality rifles and selling them at a good price. Typical less-than-medicore job by Century with the accessories.
Great Gun, Excellent Condition
Review by Brandon on 10/5/2012
Bought this gun and only took 2 days to get here! Not a tula or a hex reciever :( BUT!!!! The gun is in amazing condition, i would say brand new. Not one sing dint or stratch on the stock and the the rest of the gun is the same way. Probably the nicest mosin nagant i own. Love it!!! Get them now they are extremely nice! But when is ClassicFirearms coming out with some discount codes! I have bought numerous guns from here and not one discount code!! Come on guys!

Great Gun!
Ordered the unopened 5 pack
Review by Tommyboy71 on 9/29/2012
I ordered the 'straight from the distributer' 5 pack of Mosin-Nagant 91/30's. UPS brought it yesterday (I have a C&R license) and it did not disappoint. The large box held 5 smaller boxes, each with a rifle, bayonet and all of the accessories. They are all indeed in excellent condition and there were 2 Tulas and a hex reciever in the lot of 5. Great guns at a great price, get 'em while you can the Mosin supply is drying up fast as people discover what awesome rifles they are.
Can you say Awesome???

Great $89.99 Rifle!
Review by Mike on 9/13/2012
Another winner from Classic Firearms! I had asked to be notified when another shipment of Mosin Nagant M91/30 came in and was notified on the weekend. I immeadiately ordered, requested a Tula model and hex if available. Well, I didn't get the hex, but what I did get was a beautiful 1937 Tula with all matching numbers! Only a few little scratches on the butt stock, but for a 76 year old rifle, what can you expect?! I got all the accessories which are very nice and I would recommend anyone to get one of these before they start to dry up! I bought a couple of these rifles many, many years ago at Roses Dept. Store for around $29.95 and gave one to my son. they were in pretty bad condition and mine even has a cracked stock. They still shot well though. This one looks brand new compared to those! The bolt is not sticky at all and works like butter...SMOOTH! I love it. I see more in my future...at least one hex model and one with a laminated stock. I love Classic Firearms!
Awesome rifle, fast shipping and great service

I ordered a Russian M91/30 Mosin Nagant rifle from Classic Firearms and couldn't be happier. The rifle shipped fast to my home with my C&R license and it was a beauty. I paid extra for a Tula and hand select and got a beautiful 1939 rifle with all matching numbers. I would highly recommend Classic to anyone, in fact, I already have. I will definitely be a repeat customer.
Bad turned good
Review by m0m0 on 9/1/2012
I ordered a hex model over a year ago, and when I received it at first I was unhappy with the stock. It did not have any finish on it at all. It was so dry it weighed half as much as the other refurbished stocks on my other Nagants..
I called and complained about the condition the stock was in......You folks told me to ship it back.......I started a good once over of the weapon, and discovered the gun was as old as I was, 79, built in 1933...one good point in it's favor, then I discovered the chrome lined barrel , the chrome cleaning rod, and all the numbers matched except the bayonet....I found a keeper after all....I started refinishing the stock and ran into a problem, the wood was so soft,on the underside of the hand hold that instead of dust from sanding, it rolled up like wet newspaper.....I got it cleaned up as best I could I sanded all the other parts of the stock, and started layering on tung oil 24 hrs between coats, Now I have a great weapon, lighter then others and I can live with the small area that is rough .I have 5 Nagant's so far in my armory. two 880 cases of ammo, plus 300 that came on clips, plus a few boxes at my local gun shop of 20 I purchased before I ordered my first 880 case....My P64 with 1000 rounds of 9x18 Makrov is lonesome, so as soon as I get my pawn/gun dealer to send a new FFL,to the nice folks at Classic, I will order a CZ-82 to keep it company.......Happy happy is this 79 year old grumps.......
no complaints
Review by Burnie on 8/27/2012
Ordered two a while ago. Several months ago really. The company - excellent customer service on this transaction and a previous purchase of a saiga .223
The products - One had a repaired stock, and what looks like a new bore. The other had a much nicer stock but an obviously used, though not in bad conditioned bore and doesnt shoots quite as tight. Both easily shoot within 6" at 100yds with the iron sights though.
Im not a collector, just wanted a cheap fun bolt action and the price was so good i decided to get two. Wasnt expecting much for $90 and i definately got much more than I expected. Very satisfied. I'll probably buy more when they're back in stock as backups SHTF pass outs for friends and family.
For those contemplating their first mosin nagant be warned...its a shoulder buster if you're bony like me. Spring for the rubber butt pad.
Nice gun and fun to shoot
Review by Jack on 8/18/2012
I purchased this rifle about a month ago. 1939 Tula 91/30. Transaction was very smooth and I picked it up from my local FFL a week from ordering. For some reason I was not given the opportunity to order a hand selected , so I went with the Tula model.
I was happy to find I received all the accessories except for the cleaning brush. I also received two pouches for the ammo which I'm sure one was an extra.
Expecting to remove globs of cosmoline, I was surprised to find the rifle had very little to remove. I cleaned her up and gave a light oiling and was ready to go. I was unhappy to find the top of the barrel had its share of corrosion and pitting. Even the head of the bolt showed signs of corrosion which I assume is from the use of ammo with corrosive primers. The stock was in great shape with very little nicks. The crown had been counterbored and the action seems smooth, although after shooting the first 10 rounds the bolt started sticking and was hard to open and close.
The serial numbers were matching on all parts except for the bayonet. I tried to attach the bayonet but it was tight and I had trouble getting it off the little bit that did go on.
At the range it was fun to shoot. The recoil was more then I expected and a bruised shoulder was the result. Pretty accurate for a rifle that is 73 years old and very loud.
I have to say for the money this is a great deal and a great rifle. I would buy another and plan on doing so after I get used to this one.
Thanks Classic!!!
Excellent rifle
Review by CR FFL holder on 8/17/2012
I purchased a hand picked 1932 Tula.
The 1st time shooting, I noticed about every 3rd or 4th round would require a lot of force in order to chamber the round.
After a lot of research, I discovered the shell extractor needed to be adjusted. With 2 light taps from a brass hammer, the shell extractor was now where it needed to be. After shooting the Mosin a 2nd time, was when I fell in love with this rifle.
Hope this may help others who may experience this issue.
Thank you Classic Firearms !!!

Review by Dave R on 8/10/2012
I ordered the TULA for an extra $15. I received a Mosin Nagant with Tula markings from 1937. Overall, the rifle cleaned up great for a gun manufactured in 1937.

Only problem I have and the reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is that the bayonet does not fit and refuses to pass the front site. Bummer..
Oldie but Goody
Review by Mark on 8/8/2012
My Mosin Nagant arrived quicker then expected. My transaction was extremely smooth and easy. I expected a lot more cosmoline, and had her cleaned up and out to the range at wich time it shot well except when it got hot, but a little J&B's in the chamber and another cleaning of the barrel, and no more sticky bolt or extraction problems. I love shooting it and I spend all my extra time at the range. Thanks again. I might just by another one !!
Great historic firearm

Picked it up from my dealer 6 weeks ago. It was delivered quicker than expected. I chose the upcharge for hand pick and Tula MFG. Well worth it. After a good cleaning it was in fabulous condition. All serial numbers matched. It was extremely acurate first time out this weekend. I will be adding to my collection through Classic Arms. Very good service.
don't buy anywhere else
Review by leighton on 8/5/2012
I bought a Tula hex hand pick about a year ago and i specified clearly that all i cared about was bore condition. My plan was to sporterize it for elk hunting. The rifle I recieved had a PERFECT bore. I don't know if they normally take requests for specific things like that, and there's no way they could really hit a home run like that every time, but GREAT JOB! I ended up having to sell that one to pay some bills... Months later, things came together again and I was ordering a CCW pistol from a different well-known online company with free shipping and I thought I'd pick up another mosin from them at the same time (because of the free shipping). I'm not at all happy with what I received from the other company. Because I can sell it easily for 150 on armslist, I think I will do that and order another hand pick Tula hex from Classic Firearms. Plus, I like supporting Christian companies. I'm also wishing I had just bought a radom from Classic Firearms instead of the CCW piece I bought from the other company. Would have had money left for scopes and ammo.
Tula M91/30 Mosin Nagant Rifle
Review by nicholas on 8/2/2012
After cleaning the cosmoline off the rifle, I'm not exactly thrilled with condition of rifle as the other reviews.

Wood seeems to be mismatched and most of the bluing is gone on one side of the trigger/mag body. I used steam to remove the cosmo and no chemicals due to allergies.

I selected the Tula upgrade and made the mistake in assuming it was a hand pick option as well, which is not the case...My mistake.

I would not order this again with out a hand pick option.

Classic Firearms response: Hi Nicholas - We do apologize you are not happy with the overall condition of your rifle due to bluing missing from one side of the trigger/mag body. Please bear in mind these are "used" military surplus weapons that are 70+ years old :) In any event, we do not want you to be unhappy with your purchase and we are happy to allow you to return the rifle for a refund or exchange. If you'd like to exchange, I will personally hand pick your new rifle (no additional charge) for you to ensure you get one to meet your expectations. Since you posted your review as "guest", I do not have any contact info you, so please reach out to me at your convenience and I'll gladly assist you. God Bless.....Rick Jones

I spent the extra money on the mosin nagant rifle to get the hand picked, it was well worth it the weapon is in excellent shape and all the accesories were a pure bonus. I also love the fact that this is a Christian site and will do business with them again. Thanks Yosemite.
excellent rifles
Review by jake on 7/26/2012
ordered 3 rifles nearly a month ago so its long due for a review.

1st two were hand selected tulas and both were received in excellent condition, one even came with brass caps over the sling inserts. one was counter bored and the other normal barrel. furniture was near perfect with little to no blemishing, 95%. bluing was 95% with minor wear towards the crowns. barrel on 1938 tula was excellent while other 1940 counterbore was slightly dark.

last was hand select,1944 izshevsk only. barrel was the brightest of all 3. furniture was more worn than the tulas and bluing was 95% intact.

actions on all 3 rifles are smooth. both tulas received had all matching #s including the bayonets, Izzy came with all matching #s on the rifle save for the bayonet. but this wasnt a problem for me. took them all on multiple shooting trips since and all functioned excellent.

only reason i gave this review 4 stars was because of the wait felt a bit too long for my tastes. all in all, great investment for me.
Exellent product. Will do business again. Great prices.

Customer Service Counts
Review by LJ on 6/26/2012
A couple of weeks ago I had ordered a hand picked Tula from Classic Arms. Upon receipt of the weapon I had noticed water damage on the furniture.

I took the weapon home and proceeded to clean the Cosmoline off and upon removing the wood I noticed dents in the barrel that could not be seen when the weapon was dressed. After complete disassesmbly and cleaning the weapon off all grease I reassembled and loaded a stripper. Upon trying to cycle the weapon any round after the 2nd would not go into battery and damaged the cases beyond use.

The next day I called Classic Arms and spoke with Lisa who informed me that the weapon should not have been shipped. She was very pleasant and informed me to send the weapon back for replacement.

After receiving the return label I returned the first Tula and received the most stunning 1940 Tula example I have ever seen. I looks like it has never been fired!

Now a nice product means a lot to me but more than anything it is customer service that make me a loyal and repeat customer.

Classic Arms has won that respect from and I will be buying again .

Thank You Lisa and Classic Arms for making good a mistake.
