Great gun, won't eat Tula very well but what will
Review by KoyoteTan on 4/10/16

This gun is one of my favorite pistols of this type I've owned, out of AR or AK types. It is cheaper than a decent AR pistol and takes AR mags as you can see. Rear trunnion drilled and tapped for Ace pig nose AR tube adapter with Stormwerkz 6° shim to make it straight from the receiver with KAK AR pistol tube and Shockwave Blade stabilizer. It also had a folding mechanism from Stormwerkz for a time. The Manticore Renegade was painted FDE but is now offered that way and is the best handguard among few options for these, with Magpul MOE HG components compatible with ample customization slots. Grip was Magpul MOE, but I prefer the Strike Industries grip.

It had no malfunctions until I got to Tula ammo which gave me a stuck case after 60 rounds of it like I've gotten in ARs with the same ammo. Only the rod that it came with luckily fed down the muzzle and a rock could get it unstuck. Not a real biggie since Tula generally stinks and I've had lots of trouble with other guns in 223 (other calibers have been fine).

As far as AK pistols go, this is my favorite next to a full size Draco, because of the caliber and magazines size. It makes a great grab and go/truck gun and will fit without muzzle device, with or without a stock/stabilizer in many 72 hour backpacks like a 5.11 Rush 72 or the one I use, a GeigerRig 1600.

I will say that I ended up selling mine to a happy buyer because I prefer AK cartridges now in this kind of short gun since they are designed to extract easier as a tapered cartridge instead of a straight wall like a 5.56/223. I could have kept this gun too, if it wasn't for fullsize Draco showing up on this same site for a very good price. I've been wanting a Draco for a long time.

I absolutely love this little guy! It is flawless. It's hands down my favorite AK to shoot. And being. 223, it doesn't break the bank or your hand shooting it. The fit and finish are great. Just an absolute blast.
Outstanding Weapon

These are great Quality. The M85 is built with an RPK front trunion and 1.5mm thick receiver.
Tapco is now making M85 magazines. Wear earplugs and enjoy the flames!
Great Piece!

I had one of these years ago and sold it. I wished that I hadn't. But I bought one here! And this one has nicer furniture! I did put some varnish on the wood though just to give it a shine and some protection.
The first reviewer is correct about the magazines. They are virtually nonexistent. I have found that Pro-Mag AK74 mags will work but you do need to file them down.
I didn't like the little flash hider, if that's what you want to call it. So, I bought one of the original Krinkov flah hiders for it. Cutting through the weld was easy. Then I just did some careful filing/grinding, painted, and wah lah! Looks a LOT better! And meaner! LOL
Well built gun, very solid.

This is a good looking gun, good fit and finish, feels real solid. Haven't shot it yet. The only complaint is they only include 1 magazine with the gun, did not have any others that I could order, they did not make it compatible with any other .223 magazines, and you can't find replacements unless you want to spend a lot more than other .223 magazines go for. Galil and AK-74 magazines can be modified to fit with a little work (a dremel and hand fitting). Why they couldn't have made it compatible with the AR or AK-74 magazines I do not know? Great gun, terrible for getting spare magazines for, that's why I gave it a 4 out of 5. The gun itself is awesome.
Quality, fun firearm

These are a hoot to shoot. Excellent, quality base platform for an SBR project. I have two and highly recommend these firearms for an entertaining day at the range (Definitely bring your ear protection!).
