The Sierra Bullets 1340: Varminter Bullets are specifically designed to ensure quick expansion and immediate kills on larger varmints and smaller game. These bullets feature thin jackets to amplify expansion while retaining enough strength to be fired at the maximum muzzle velocities for the cartridges they are designed for. This category includes several bullet shapes such as hollow point (HP), spitzer pointed flat base (SPT), and semi-pointed (SMP).
Bullets denoted as Blitz are designed for medium velocity, under 3600 fps. Hornet bullets, on the other hand, are created to consistently expand within the 2500 to 2800 fps velocity range. Despite this, they are suitable for cartridges generating up to 3500 fps muzzle velocity. When fired at 223 Remington velocities, the Hornet functions as an explosive 'Blitz' style Varminter.
