Hey everybody, Clint here with Classic Firearms out here today at Take Aim Training and Range. And today's video is all about reloads because you know, I'm still in the Marines and I still see a lot of guys out at the rifle range, especially when it comes to table two, where you actually have to do kind of a speed reload, drop to a knee, reload, things like that. And I get asked quite a bit, "Hey man, how do you cut the times down so much," because typically at the end of the drill or whatever else, I find myself facing down range and I'm done. And then I still see people trying to fumble with their mags and stuff. The things I think are happening is people don't actually get out and just practice. And that's really the biggest thing. Sure. There's devices out there, which we'll talk about in the moment or in a minute, like the Magpole BAD lever, the BAD lever, which might help speed you up just a little bit, but you really don't need all of the fancy Gucci stuff. You just need to go out and train and practice with your rifle.

Mag Pouches

So today we're just going to go over basic reloads with a AR featuring a BAD lever and also a M9A3 because I really like this gun and also our current giveaway. Also, we're wearing part of our current giveaway too. This is the guard dog body armor Sheppard plate carrier and it's got a level four plate up front and in the back. Again, all guard dog body armor. Pretty cool stuff. And I also want to show you different types of retaining your mags and holsters. So integrated on the Sheppard plate carrier, you actually have some bungee holsters and I said integrated. So it's something I really like about this compared to my other setup, which is still pretty nice, but I do notice when I start running and moving, I get a lot of flop and that's not really something you look all that cool with, but also too, it's not really efficient or a comfortable if you're actually in an environment where you need to move like that in an environment where you're doing just kind of CQB.. Moving around buildings or houses or room to room type stuff. It's easy. You don't have to worry about it, but that's something I do like about the Shepherd here is the fact that it does have this integrated mag pouch right up front for your AR style mags. AK mags will fit in here too. Also on the back or on the sides, it comes with extra mag pouches. As you can tell, they're not completely in. This is just how it comes and I'm just showing it to you guys. But you'll see on my belt, I've got the high-speed gear set up and we'll show you kind of just how adaptable these are. Pretty sweet stuff. They're bungee also, except they're not bungee retained like this. You just pull down on it and that'll tighten the tension on the mag. So you can pull it in the rifle mag, AR mags, AK, SCARS, PSL even, all sorts of crazy stuff, not a Barrett 50 Cal. Okay. But all these neat things. But anyway, let's start off with the AR.

Guard Dog Body Armor AR-15 Magazine Pouch

Speed Test

All right. Now let's go ahead and let's just run this quick little drill here just to establish a baseline. All right. So one round in the magazine. I'm going to keep the bungee on my go-to my backup mag here and the mag that I'm reloading and not running the BAD lever. Just going to be hitting the standard bolt release. Also too, still running the brigade trigger, the flat face trigger on here. Yes. Still liking it. Let's go ahead and give this guy a shot on the shot timer and let's see where we're at. Okay. Fumbled a little bit. So that was two shots at 5.25 seconds. Not bad, but not great. Again, I'm still getting used to going from my high-speed gear pouches, which is just a simple grab because it's still under a nice tight retention here and I was moving that bungee out of the way. Of course, if I didn't have the bungee on it, I could just grab and go, cut down a little bit of time. Let's do it one more time. Same drill however, but this time, I'm going to run the BAD lever and see if it's a little bit quicker. So right now we're at 5.25 for those two shots. Let's try it again. Okay. Those are both hits. 4.58, so good. So a little bit quicker. Nice. All right. Now, I'm going to go ahead and retain that one there. Pick up my empty. Still have one in the chamber. Very good. And then let's try switching. Cutting away from the bungee retention, let's just go down to the belt over here and let's go ahead and get rid of the MP5 mag that's going to be all up in the way. Let's go ahead and throw this guy in here. Again, High-speed Gear Industries really like these. Me personally, if I was running the Shepard plate carrier, I'd actually probably ditch this mag pouch here since I like running the belt combo. So that might get in the way a little bit. We'll see. Let's see how it goes. Again, I'm going to be running no BAD lever this time and just coming from the pouch and we'll do it one more time with the ADB lever and the pouch from High-speed Gear Industries.

Magpul B.A.D Lever

There we go. 4.15. So that was my quickest time so far not having to fumble with the bungee. Good. So again, that might be something you want to consider if you are looking to run mag pouches. For me, I always know that, hey, if I'm going to be needing to go for a quick reload, go for the belt. If I got a little bit of time between reloads, go for the bungee, right? So again, let's try it one more time with the BAD lever and also too, how you have your mags oriented. That's another thing. When you do your reloads, are you guys kind of doing like what they call the beer can grip? Are you just coming like straight up like this and going in and then hitting the bolt release? Me, I like to have my mags facing downward and forward. That is what works great for me and how I grab them. But then again, it might work better for some other people. I don't know, but let's try this one more time again with the BAD lever. We are sitting right now, my fastest time, two shots 4.15 seconds. Let's give it another shot here.

Magpul BAD Lever

3.55. And that was even with me fumbling the mag again, just a little bit, getting it into the magwell. 3.55. So we've cut down by using gear and equipment and also, probably just getting out here and doing some again, a little bit of practicing, a little bit of repetitive muscle memory type stuff, cutting down well past a second. So we started off at 5.25. Now we're at 3.55 for that final drill with the BAD lever and the High-speed Gear pouches. Pretty cool stuff, right? Let's actually try one really quick with the M9. Let's give that a shot.

Beretta M9

So I decided to run the M9 today because I've been running the FNX a lot and I need to get used to doing the reloads on this guy, metal mags on a metal frame versus metal mags on a polymer frame. Just to try it out. I've got one in the chamber here. Again, we're going to establish a baseline right? So I'm going to go and flip it off to safe. And actually I'm going to put it... Just to go ahead and get it as fast as I can, going to go ahead and just put this guy in its single action mode, pull the trigger, go bang, and then use the bungee way up here is where they got the pistol pouches. Me personally, I'd probably go to move these down here, but again, this is just how the plate carrier comes, so I'm running it as is. So I'd again, probably move these down here just to make it a little bit more comfortable, but this guy's way on up here. And then I'm going to try to do that reload with the bungee on and everything. So let's go ahead. Let's give it a shot. Let's see how we do here. All right. Cool. So that was 4.68. All right. Oh man. I'm really going to have to clean up my mags and my guns after this one. That's for sure. All right. So this time, instead of going with the bungee, we're going to go with the High-speed Gear guy. As you can see right here, I'm not going to have to fumble with the bungee again like we did earlier and I'm just going to be hopping right into it. So again, I'm going to go ahead and set this guy up, so I'm ready to take my shot and let's see where we're at here.

HSGI Pistol Mag Pouch

Nice. All right. What does that say? 3.01. So just over three seconds is where we're sitting with that guy. And again, what I like about these types of drills is for one, you're getting comfortable and used to your gear and on top of that, it's a low round count. I've gone through, what? Less than 10 rounds so far I think. So that makes me pretty happy, especially during these times. By the way, if you guys are looking for ammo, we are still getting quite a bit of ammo in every so often, but we are sending out mass text messages, so that way you guys are informed of whenever these shipments come in and they're available on our website. So make sure you're signing up for our SMS text alerts to be first to be notified. You can send video, text that word to the number that you see down at the bottom of your screen or simply go ahead and pull out your phone and take a photo of the QR code you see right here. Easy enough, right?

The Beretta M9A3 9mm Pistol

MP5

But anyway, what's nice about these, again low round count and it's familiarizing yourself with your gear and your equipment just sitting here, if you're moving with bungees, things like that. Me personally, this is way on up here. So I'm going to mention again, I'd probably move that down there, but cool. Easy enough. And let's go ahead and mess with another platform that we got over here and this guy, I'm going to go ahead and drop this one out. This is the MP5, our current giveaway. It's actually a Zenith Z-5RS. And if you haven't seen our video unveiling this as our giveaway, you might want to go check it out because it's also coming with a Shepherd plate carrier by Guard Dog Body Armor, two level four plates and even a level 3A helmet like what you see right here. Pretty cool stuff. The Trijicon MRO and magnifier because why the heck not, and the SB tactical PDW brace. So from here, with this guy, what I'm definitely going to have to keep in mind... Do I still have that MP5 mag? Here we go. What I'm definitely going to have to keep in mind is it's a different operating system on here, so when I do my reloads, I need to make sure that I am locking the bolt to the rear. Manually, I'll show you exactly what's going to happen. I'm going to go ahead. I'll be sighted in. I'm going to pull the trigger. It's going to go clunk. I need to do this number and then grab, insert new mag, and then slap it down. The reason for that being is the way this gun was designed. Just the way it is on a fully loaded mag, trying to insert this guy on a closed bolt, it's just not going to happen. All right. Secondly, if your bolt is already locked to the rear, you're pretty much doing the cycle of operation as if it was the last round bolt hold open, but you're just doing it manually. Whenever you would run dry, the bolt would stay locked to the rear. You would insert new mag and then drop the bolt release. You're pretty much doing all that. It's like driving a stick shift. Right? All right. So let's go and give it a shot here and let's just see how long it takes me to have fun with this guy. I am going to change it up a little bit. Since this is a giveaway gun, I am going to be pocketing this mag, so I'll be dumping it in my pouch. That'll add a little bit of time. There's a dump pouch for you right back here. That will add a little bit of time, but it'll all be same since it's still the same drill, but just on a different platform. So let's go out and give it a shot here. That's always fun to do and let's see how it goes. So again, I need to get used to it. My pinky got caught on this guy and swayed my muzzle a little bit, so it's something you got to practice with, right? Anyway, 4.60 for two shots. And let's just try it one more time just for fun. And yeah, I really like shooting the MP5. What can I say? All right. Pocket that one in the HSGI mount. I should have one round in here. So we are set. Let's try it one more time. Let's see if we can get that shot time down a little bit.

Zenith Z-5RS

Roundoff

All right. 5.07. A little bit better. So yeah, just got to get out there and practice guys right? Now of course, there are devices out there that we've discussed in this video that might make things a little bit easier for you. Different types of mag pouches. Again, check out all of the High-speed Gear Industry pouches, belts, things along those lines that we offer on our website. And of course, I don't know, maybe how you store your mags on your plate carrier, things like that. For me, I think I may have done a little bit better if I were to move my pistol pouches a little bit lower down, but really what it comes down to is practice, practice, practice. And again, you can do that dry firing at home, simply just locking the bolt to the rear. Where's that one empty mag? And I'll show you. All right. So here we go. I already know I'm going to need to whip out. There we go. Perfect. So if I'm just practicing at home, pop, imitate, come down, pick up, "Oh, need to practice that bad," and then come down. Again, you can do that low round count type stuff, no round count type stuff. Just get out there, practice, practice at home, be safe with it, things like that. All right. Anyway, I'm going to talk about this gun one more time because it is our current giveaway. This is the Zenith Z-5RS with the Trijicon MRO and magnifier. Again, I just said, why not because it's a lot of fun. We do have the SB tactical PDW brace on this guy and yes, the Franklin Armory binary trigger, which if I remember correctly, I got a couple rounds left in here. So if you want to see what that binary trigger is all about, it's all about double taps. It'll fire when I pull the trigger and release. Helps if I actually put it in binary. Aww man. Didn't have enough rounds in there on that one, but that's okay. This thing is a lot of fun. And those binary triggers by Franklin Armory are also a heck of a lot of fun. They make them for ARs, AKs, CZ Scorpions, all sorts of neat things. So get out there, go practice, and get your entries in for the Zenith Z-5, the Guard Dog body armor, the level 3A helmet, all of that good stuff at classicfirearms.com. Don't miss out. And yeah, I got to tell you guys. I'm really going to miss this gun because I mentioned in the giveaway video might not get another Zenith in. Let me know your thoughts on that on the giveaway guys. God bless. And we'll see you next time at classicfirearms.com. Shop All High Speed Gear
