This Firearm Will Go Live on The Site for Sale at Noon E.S.T. on Monday Dec 8, 2025. - Beautiful German K98 Sniper Rifle with Zeiss Jena Zielvier Scope. I don't know a lot about this rifle. Heck, I don't even know the manufacturer because the scope was on it when I purchased it and the manufacturing stamp is below the scope mount. I could pull it off and look under, but I know that this scope has been mounted for years, and I don't want to monkey with it. If it ain't broke (and it ain't), don't fix it. The rifle itself appears to be original and with all visible serial numbers including the number on the stock matching. The rifle features a very clear and prominant war eagle on the receiver and several on the stock. The stock itself is beautiful. Black walnut with really nice contrasting grain. I'm a sucker for nice wood and this one is quite nice and it has the heavy cupped doorbuster buttplate. The stock appears to be original and not refinished but I can't say that for certain. Bluing is 95% plus. The serial number on this rifle is 7519 and all primary serial numbers including the ones on the barrel bands, bolt, safety lever, butt plate,and floorplate match. Other features of the rifle include a safety lever extension (typical to sniper models), set screws, a sight hood, and a cleaning rod. The bore is bright and shows strong lands and grooves. I'm going to call it 95% plus. To the untrained eye it would probably look virtually new, but I can see some use on it. Still, it is bright with no pitting and should make a fantastic shooter. Rifle also comes with a historically accurate reproduction sling. I do not know the history of the sling, but the leather looks far too good to be original. Scope is in great shape and the lens are clear. Oh, I can't find an import mark anywhere on this rifle. Other than that, I can't tell you much more. All that I can state for sure is that it is one beautiful looking, somewhat rare piece of military history which I have been proud to have in my collection and I'm sure that you would enjoy having in yours. The rifle ships in a hard case for maximum protection. This rifle has been represented here through images and description with 100% accuracy as I know it and if you are not comfortable buying it based on this information Do Not Make the Purchase. All sales are final on this rifle. This rifle is C&R Eligible. The back story. Over the last 30 plus years in the gun business I have acquired some really nice surplus firearms. These guns came from Gun Shows, private collections, and private individuals that I have met along the way, as well as, on occasion, what I would deem as the best of a particular lot when it came in here to Classic. Well, all good things must end and at this point in my life it is time to downsize a little and that includes letting go of some of these "Gun Safe Queens" that I have typically only pulled out to clean ever so often. Now don't get me wrong, there was a time when I would not have even considered giving up one of these firearms as they have been very special to me. However, my daughters show no interest in inheriting them, and at this point in my life I've decided that I would rather see them in the hands of folks that would relish them, than to have them to continue sit in a dark safe here at Classic. Each gun from my private collection is unique and they will sell individually by serial #, so when that gun is gone, it is gone and irreplaceable. At least from me.
