Short rifle. Turned down bolt, 5 round magazine, Re-Blued over original finish. See extended description and video for full details. . Barrel: 21" Overall: 44.3". Sporterized Stock Model. Not C&R Eligible!
The Sporterized stock rifles will have a more commercial type hunting style stock and I find them comfortable but they do lose their original military allure. No sights on these but drilled and tapped for based. Barrels are either completely free floated or they barely touch the beds of the stocks I am somewhat a purist but I liked these sporterized models as did the guys in the warehouse, they are lightweight, hold very steady at point of aim, and have a decent finish. These rifles are in these stocks by necessity as the original stocks were either broken or missing when these rifles were acquired. Being .308 caliber it would also make a great hunting rifle. Unfortunately we just don't have many of them. More about this particular group of rifles.
These rifles were originally imported as an exclusive for Samco Global Arms. We were able to obtain a small qty of these after their asset auction and are very happy to be able to offer them today. These M1916 Spanish Mausers were originally produced by the Oviedo factory in Spain with an original chambering of 7mm Mauser. A large # of them ( these included ) were re-chambered by Oviedo to the more plentiful 7.62 Nato round ( they are actually marked .308 Winchester ) to make them more popular for the U.S. market. These are the.308 models. These are traditional styled 5 round Bolt Action rifles. The M1916 rifle was introduced in 1916. It was a shortened version of the M1893 rifle with a straight stock chambered in 7mm Mauser which was a common round in use by the Spanish military. These rifles were all originally in the returns pile at Samco that had building up for one reason or another inside their building over the course of several decades. When I say return pile I'm talking about tier racks full of rifles that had come back or been unsell-able upon import for any variety of reasons. Some had cracked or broken stocks, many were missing handguards, some didn't have bolts in them when I saw them but there were buckets and boxes of bolts sitting under the tier racks, missing sights, missing floorplates or magazine bodies, broken stocks, missing stocks, etc. This group of rifles were all either missing stocks or the stocks were broken to the point that they could no longer be utilized. Most were also either missing sights or the sights were cannibalized in order to make another rifle functional. Hence a new somewhat crude but functional " sporter stock was added and the rifles were drilled and tapped for mount's... i.e. Sporterized.
Anyway, when the assetts were sold off many of these return guns and parts were outsourced to a firearms company that basically specializes in taking 2 incomplete rifles and turning them into one functioning gun. They were tasked with being sure that these rifles were made functional and safety tested, using the parts available to them, before bringing them to the market place. Of course we committed to the rifles once they were completed and even with the issues that we have adderessed here we think they are a great value.
Actual images of each type above. We make no guarantee for bore condition and do not select for such but most of the .308 chambered rifles have nice bores and in fact many are new.Not C&R Eligible!
Rifles are warrantied for function for 30 day's so that you can verify that it shoots as expected but otherwise they are sold as is.Any warranty issues for function within the first 30 days you would contact us and we would refer your directly to the warranty insurer. We do not warranty for condition and in that regard these are all as is.
