Hungarian FEG Walam 48 .380 Pistol Semi-Auto Double Action 4" Barrel Blue. Surplus Good Condition. Walther PP design, built by FEG in Hugary for military contract in Egypt. .380 ACP cal, comes with one 8rd magazineC & R Eligible
In 1946 the Ministry of the Interior of Hungary wanted a replacement service pistol for the police and they decided that they wanted a Walther PP design. The Walam 48 is very similar to a Walther PP, and almost all parts are interchangeable with the PP, but features a loaded chamber indicator on the left side of the slide and also a finger rest style magazine. The design was originally implemented for police service in .32 ACP (7.65 Browning), but FEG also received a military contract to supply pistols to the Egyptian military in .380 ACP (9mm Browning Short). FEG built about 10,000 pistols for this contract, but only half were delivered to the Egyptians before the contract was terminated due to issues with receiving payment. These military contract pistols are mechanically identical to the Hungarian police models except for caliber and the presence of the Egyptian crest on the left side of the slide. The remainder of the contract pistols that were completed but not delivered to Egypt are missing the legend markings on the slide. These pistols have brown bakelite grip panels, and the Good condition means they will be fully functional mechanically but will have noticeable cosmetic wear any a fair number of them show some pitting on the slides. We have a custom option below to guarantee a pistol with the Egyptian military crest for an additional fee.
