The MHU05N240WR4T is a powerful representation of the legendary Weatherby Mark V platform, demonstrating its versatility with a host of chamberings. Uniqueness in this model arises from its inclusion of a newly-designed stock that mirrors the esteemed Mark V Backcountry 2.0's shape and ergonomic features, which debuted earlier this year. The Hunter's innovative polymer stock is furnished with a sleek, flat-bottomed forend, ambidextrous palm swells, and an aluminum pillar construction, all wrapped up in an aesthetic Smoke & Burnt Bronze Speckle finish.
Claiming the title of the world's strongest action, the Mark V showcases a distinct multi-lug bolt system, a design inspired by the interrupted thread style of lockup. Provided in both Standard and Magnum action sizes, the Standard design adheres to a six lug pattern, while the more robust Magnum utilizes nine locking lugs. This enables these actions to securely chamber the market's most intense commercially-available cartridges. Additional safety attributes include three steel rings surrounding the cartridge base when in battery, a completely enclosed bolt shroud, and three gas relief ports in the bolt body to diffuse pressure in an ammunition failure event.
The Mark V Hunter's barreled action, threaded 1/228 for use with a suppressor or brake, is encased in a shell of Burnt Bronze Cerakote, offering solid protection against the elements. Added features include a deep-fluted bolt to minimize weight and streamline its operation within the action. An extended, detachable bolt knob delivers a more accurate bolt throw while providing options to cater to individual shooter preferences.
Offering a broad array of cartridges to choose from, the Mark V Hunter comes in both Weatherby Magnum chamberings and traditional American choices. The Barrel, Receiver, and Trigger Guard have a Burnt Bronze Cerakote finish, and both #1 & #2 Contour 1/228 Thread Protector share the same. Meanwhile, the Bolt, Bolt Knob, and Safety are all finished in Graphite Black Cerakote. A brand new Mark V Advanced Polymer stock in Smoke & Bronze Speckle completes this attractive ensemble.
