Winchester 535244299: Since its inception in 1936, the Model 70 has served as the standard by which all other bolt-action rifles are compared. It retains its renowned 3-position safety, conveniently maneuverable with the thumb of your dominant hand, thus moving the firing pin away from the sear. With a receiver originating from a solid chunk of forged steel, the base of this model remains flat for better bedding surface area. For stability during firing, it is bedded using a dual-component epoxy, both at the front and rear.
The Model 70 features a robust Controlled Round Feed (CRF) bolt design, thanks to its substantial claw extractor that smoothly grips and secures approximately one quarter of the base of the cartridge. This ensures absolute control over the cartridge from the moment it departs the magazine to the point of its full ejection. Remarkably, the design facilitates extraction of an unfired cartridge prior to its complete chambering.
Notably, the Model 70 employs the M.O.A. Trigger System, universally recognized as the world's most accurate three-lever trigger system. It offers increased precision alongside its time-honored Pre-'64 controlled round feed. Ejection of a spent case is effortless, credited to a blade-type ejector which offers full control. Lastly, the free-floating barrel goes through a button-rifling process, ensuring superior accuracy and durability.
