The Varmint constitutes the standard heavy-barreled model of the 457 and features a .866" cylindrical barrel. The heavy barrel ensures commendable harmonics, and supports a wide array of rimfire loads, thereby translating into an accurate platform both for shooting targets and hunting game.

The rifle comes with a Turkish walnut stock that boasts an American-style comb, specially designed for scope use. It also features a broad, flat forend, which rests well on a sandbag. The grip is enhanced by laser-cut stippling in both the fore and aft sections.

In terms of safety, the model includes a receiver-mounted safety that requires a push to fire. We have trimmed almost an inch from the action length and opted for a slab-sided design to minimize its footprint and reduce weight. The Varmint employs the same swappable barrel system as the 455, and the equally reliable polymer magazine system.
