This Firearm Will Go Live on The Site for Sale at Noon E.S.T. on Monday Dec 8, 2025. I'm by no means an expert on this particular gun so rather than speculate and end up looking foolish, I'm just going to describe it and ya'll can decide if you want it. This is a U.S. Property marked 1911 .45 Pistol. The slide is marked Ithica Gun Company Inc. Ithica N.Y and it has a very clear P stamped on the top of the slide in front of the rear sight. The frame is stamped United States Property and there is a Flaming Bomb proof stamp above the mag release. I would say that all visible serial numbers match but the only visible (without disassembly) serial # that I can find is on the left side of the frame. According to the book, this serial number, 117685, was manufactured by Sprigfield in 1916 making it a fairly rare frame. Ithica did not get into the 1911 production game until 1943 so this slide could have been paired with this frame for service during WWII. All of that is speculation of course but my point is, I'm pretty sure that this is not the original slide to the frame. The grey parkerized finish is not perfect as you can see some slight signs of carry wear but as the images show it is still very good. I would conservatively call it 90% plus. The brown checkered plastic grips are completely intact and in good shape. The bore is not pristine but is still bright and shows strong lands and grooves. Now, in full disclosure I purchased this pistol from an individual years ago and do not know the history of it so I can't with any certainty attest as to whether it has been refinished or otherwise altered, but, based on its condition, and the overall look of the parkerizing I really think that this is the original finish and it has just been kept in this nice of an original condition. However, I don't know that for sure. All that I can state for sure is that it is one beautiful looking, somewhat rare piece of military history which I have been proud to have in my collection and I'm sure that you would enjoy having in yours. The pistol ships in bubble wrap for maximum protection. This pistol has been represented here through images and description with 100% accuracy as I know it and if you are not comfortable buying it based on this information Do Not Make the Purchase. All sales are final on this pistol. This pistol is C&R Eligible. The back story. Over the last 30 plus years in the gun business I have acquired some really nice surplus firearms. These guns came from Gun Shows, private collections, and private individuals that I have met along the way, as well as, on occasion, what I would deem as the best of a particular lot when it came in here to Classic. Well, all good things must end and at this point in my life it is time to downsize a little and that includes letting go of some of these "Gun Safe Queens" that I have typically only pulled out to clean ever so often. Now don't get me wrong, there was a time when I would not have even considered giving up one of these firearms as they have been very special to me. However, my daughters show no interest in inheriting them, and at this point in my life I've decided that I would rather see them in the hands of folks that would relish them, than to have them to continue sit in a dark safe here at Classic. Each gun from my private collection is unique and they will sell individually by serial #, so when that gun is gone, it is gone and irreplaceable. At least from me. If you no longer see this pistol in inventory, you will know that it has sold.
