The Ruger 5614 is a Small-Frame Autoloading Rifle that's virtually the same size as a standard 5.56-caliber modern sporting rifle. It's chambered in 7.62 NATO / .308 Win., melding the ballistic superiority of .308 Winchester within the structure of a usual MSR. Its bolt and barrel extensions are crafted from a robust super alloy steel using CNC machining, offering better performance than conventional C158 bolts. The enhanced lug geometry additionally bolsters the breech to accommodate larger short-action cartridges.
The bolt carrier assembly is integrated with a chrome-lined 8620 steel bolt carrier and a nitride-coated gas key that's firmly staked in place. The DLC-coated titanium firing pin ensures extended service life. With dual ejectors and an optimized extractor, the bolt guarantees successful spent case extraction and ejection via the expanded ejection port. The rifle comes with a cold hammer-forged 4140 chrome-moly steel barrel with ultra-accurate 5rd rifling. The heavy profile barrel is attractively black nitride finished, which heightens accuracy, durability, and facilitates cleaning.
The rifle features a Ruger 2-port Boomer muzzle brake with significant perpendicular surfaces to redirect gas and minimize recoil. It comes with a 5/8"-24 muzzle thread that is compatible with other brakes, flash hiders, and suppressors. The 15" aluminum handguard is free-floating, promoting accuracy. It has Magpul M-LOK accessory attachment slots at the 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00 positions, along with a full-length Picatinny top rail. The handguard also features sockets for Quick Disconnect (QD) sling swivels at the muzzle end, enabling easy carry with a two-point sling.
The firearm's rifle-length gas system uses a 0.750" 4-position rotary-regulator gas block for optimal function with a wide range of ammunition. Adjustments are easy with the provided 3/16" ball-end wrench. The rifle is outfitted with a Ruger Elite 452 trigger, providing a smooth, crisp 4.5-pound 2-stage trigger pull. A high-strength hammer spring and lightweight hammer promise fast lock times and consistent primer ignition.
The upper receiver, crafted from a 7075-T6 hard-coat anodized aluminum forging, includes a brass deflector, forward assist, and a full-length Picatinny rail. The lower receiver features an enhanced flare on the magazine well for trouble-free magazine insertion.
