Moving rearward, the Hellpup uses a standard AKM-style stamped receiver paired with a forged front trunnion. The safety lever features an enhanced manipulation shelf and extended flaps, giving the shooter a couple of different ways to run the safety and making it easier to operate than a basic AK lever. On top, the pistol has an adjustable rear sight. The markings are first painted black and then white, which the host explains makes it much easier to see exactly which setting is selected and to confirm adjustments when putting rounds downrange.
At the magazine well, the Hellpup ships with two standard-capacity AK magazines included in the box. The magazine release just behind the well is slightly extended, making it easier to actuate when removing and inserting magazines, especially during faster reloads. The pistol uses a metal trigger guard, and the trigger itself has a small amount of take-up followed by a very crisp break. The reset is described as highly tactile, giving clear feedback to the shooter.
