BM-59 Mk III Trupee Alpini Model with Original Pistol Grip and Side Fold Stock - .308 Caliber Mag Fed Semi-Auto Rifle, With 1-20 round Mag, Extremely Rare Alpini Paratrooper Model BM-59 with a Pistol Grip and Side Folding Stock originally intended for mountain troop divisions. There were only a very small quantity of these ever imported into the country. A Collectors Dream. For those wondering, the primary difference between the Alpini model and the standard paratrooper model is in the muzzle compensator. The Alpini model features the standard BM-59 compensator that all of the standard rifles feature, while the Paratrooper model features the more advanced 2-part removable flash hider. Other than the flash hider / compensator, they are identical rifles. The BM-59's in all of their variants are some of the sweetest shooting rifles I have ever had the privilege of pulling the trigger on. - More about the rifle.
These highly sought after and collectible BM-59 Alpini Paratrooper rifles are meticulously reassembled by James River Armory utilizing original Grade A Beretta parts kit including the original side folding paratrooper stock, bi-pod, and magazines. However, these are even better than the originals in that they feature a brand-new CNC billet cut all steel U.S. made receiver and a new US manufactured U.S. made barrel with a 1 in 10 twist rate. Each Alpini Paratrooper comes in a hard case, with an owner's manual, installed bi-pod, an original Italian issued multi tool packet, and 1- 20 round magazine. All rifles carry a full one-year warranty from JRA. More about the BM-59 Paratrooper -
The Beretta BM 59 is an Italian-made rifle based on the M1 Garand rifle but chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO caliber and modified to use a detachable magazine. The basic BM59 appeared in four major marks. The BM59 Mk I was the initial production model with an all-wood solid stock with an integrated pistol grip. The BM59 Mk II also featured an all-wood solid stock though incorporated a full pistol grip to help improve stability during full automatic fire.
The BM59 Ital TA (BM59 Mk III) was intended for the Alpine Mountain infantry. As such, the design sported a reduced length stock with a collapsible skeletal butt, a standard-issue bipod, flash hider and a pistol-style grip. All of these changes made for a more compact system suitable for mountain fighting. Another development included the BM59 Ital Paratrooper model (seen here) which was intended for Italian paratroopers. For all intents and purposes, the BM59 Ital Para fell in line with the aforementioned BM59 Ital TA save for a shorter barrel and removable flash hider. There were only a few thousand of these ever made making them one of the most highly desirable and collectible of all of the BM-59 variations.
These BM59 Paratrooper rifles are manufactured on new billet cut all steel BM-59 receivers that have been properly heat treated for hardness to Mil-Spec, and feature a combination of new U.S. manufactured and grade A surplus Beretta parts from the original rifles. They feature a new U.S. made barrel designed to provide tack driving accuracy and are manufactured to legal Semi Auto BM59 specs. Each rifle comes with 1-20 round magazines and hard carry case. Chambered for and functions best with NATO spec 147 grain 7.62x51 ammunition. We do not recommend commercial .308 Winchester ammunition for this rifle.
Note - This is the extremely rare Mk III Truppe Alpine Model with the Original Pistol Grip and Side Metallic Folding Buttstock, that was intended for the Alpine Mountain Troops.
The BM59 is the final version of the M1 Garand. With US assistance the Italian government began manufacturing the Garand rifle in the late 1950’s. In order to modernize the Garand and transition to the 7.62 NATO caliber Beretta developed a top quality magazine fed rifle based on the Garand which was designated the BM59. This rifle was considered the foreign equivalent of the US M14 and by utilizing many Garand components it was very economical to place into production. The BM59 was the primary issue rifle by the Italian Army into the 1990’s and is still in use by the Italian Navy. Here's the story: After World War II, Italy adopted the US-designed M1 Garand rifle in .30-06 Springfield (7.62×63mm) and also manufactured it under license. This semi-automatic rifle proved itself well during World War II, but in the late 1950s it was considered outdated and obsolete and the Italian military also wanted a new rifle chambered for the NATO-standard 7.62×51mm round. To meet these requirements, Beretta designed the BM 59, which was essentially a re-chambered M1 Garand modified to be mag fed and to accept a removable 20-round magazine, folding bipod and a combined flash suppressor/rifle grenade launcher. The original military variation was also capable of selective fire. The BM 59 was adopted in 1959 and served with Italian, Argentinian, Indonesian, and Moroccan armies. The earliest BM 59s in Italy were manufactured from U.S.-manufactured M1 parts, including re-chambered barrels. These BM59 rifles are manufactured on Brand New J.R.A. M1-Garand / BM-59 Receivers, and feature a combination of new condition U.S. Military and Beretta parts. They also feature a new U.S. made barrel and are manufactured to legal Semi Auto BM59 specs. Each rifle comes with 1-20 round magazines. Additional magazines can be found here.
I have been in the gun business for well over 25 years and an enthusiast for much longer than that. In that time I thought I had seen it all but I had never seen anything like this. Basically this the Beretta's variation of an M-14 rifle but it is lighter and faster handling. It also produces less recoil due to the built in suppressor / grenade launcher, and although it carries all of the power and performance of the 7.62 Nato round. It is one of the softest shooting rifles I have ever held. It also has the historical significance of originally being built around an M1 Garand I love these rifles and you will too.
Note- Rifle is chambered for and functions best with Nato spec 147 grain 7.62x51 ammunition. We do not recommend commercial .308 Winchester ammunition for this rifle.
Note 2 - Original metal parts on these may exhibit slight scratches or bluing wear from storage but images are actual photo's and these are excellent overall.
