This Firearm Will Go Live on The Site for Sale at Noon E.S.T. on Monday Dec 8, 2025. Beautiful German K98 Rifle as issued to the German Nazi Army for WWII. The manufacturer stamping is DOU indicating that it came from the Waffen Werke, Brunn, Bystrica factory in Slovakia with a date of 1941. The serial number on this rifle is 874B but virtually all visible serial numbers on the rifle are mis-matched. It also has a straight bolt which to me is less than highly desireable. Now for it's good features. It has a deep, dark, polished blue finish and a very clear and prominant 100% intact Waffenampt War Eagle stamping on the receiver as well as other Waffenampts and War Eagles clearly stamped into the stock. The bolt action is smooth, and it has an amazing trigger pull. This rifle features a beautiful, walnut hardwood stock with a flat buttplate which was correct to this manufacturer and date. The bore still shows lands and grooves and I believe it is still serviceable but it is very rough and frosty. One round through may clean it up some but I only have corrosive ammo right now and I don't want to fire it and clean it so I would rather just disclose it. Even at that, it is better than 90% of the bores on K98's that I have seen... and I have seen a bunch. Now, in full disclosure I purchased this rifle from an individual years ago and do not know the history of it so I can't with any certainty attest as to whether it has been refinished or otherwise altered from its original factory state. Based on its external condition, which is very nice, I would assume that it has been refurbished because you never see a rifle of this age that is this nice in original condition. However, I don't know that for sure. Frankly I am not sure why I had this rifle. I really like the outside, but I am normally a stickler for really good bores and all matching numbers and this one has neither. I may have been in a hurry and forgot to look or maybe the guy had a good hardluck story. I simply don't remeber. Anyway, the price reflects the condition. This rifle has been represented here through images and description with 100% accuracy as I know it and if you are not comfortable buying it based on this information Do Not Make the Purchase. All sales are final on this rifle. This rifle is C&R Eligible. The back story. Over the last 30 plus years in the gun business I have acquired some really nice surplus firearms. These guns came from Gun Shows, private collections, and private individuals that I have met along the way, as well as, on occasion, what I would deem as the best of a particular lot when it came in here to Classic. Well, all good things must end and at this point in my life it is time to downsize a little and that includes letting go of some of these "Gun Safe Queens" that I have typically only pulled out to clean ever so often. Now don't get me wrong, there was a time when I would not have even considered giving up one of these firearms as they have been very special to me. However, my daughters show no interest in inheriting them, and at this point in my life I've decided that I would rather see them in the hands of folks that would relish them, than to have them to continue sit in a dark safe here at Classic. Each gun from my private collection is unique and they will sell individually by serial #, so when that gun is gone, it is gone and irreplaceable. At least from me. If you no longer see this rifle in inventory, you will know that it has sold.
