This Firearm Will Go Live on The Site for Sale at Noon E.S.T. on Monday Dec 8, 2025. Beautiful M98/29 Mauser more commonly known as the Persian Mauser. This rifle came to us from Century Arms back in August of 2016. I know because I went into Classic's acquistion records and found it. That jarred my memory and I recalled a small shipment of these rifles that came in from Century back then and one was just exceptional. I quickly claimed that one for myself due to its superb condition.... but now it's time to let it go. The Persian 98/29 is considered by most to be one of the finest Mauser rifles ever made. About 180,000 7.92X57mm (8mm Mauser) Persian Model 98/29 Mauser Rifles were manufactured by Brno in Czechoslovakia between 1931 and 1938 for the country of Iran. They are renowned for their robust bolt-action mechanism, smooth operation, and exceptional accuracy. Built on the reliable Mauser 98 action, this rifle offers shooters a reliable and consistent performance that stands the test of time. Also, the long 29.1" barrel maximizes the ballistics of the 8mm Mauser round making it a tack driving powerhouse. So, what drew me to this rifle. Well, two things. I have always been a sucker for really nice grain and contrast in wood, and this rifle has one of the prettiest black walnut, semi-gloss stocks that I have ever seen on a surplus rifle. It is certainly not perfect because it does have some minor dents, dings, and scratches, but they all blend well with the stock and actually add character instead of detracting from value. The grain pattern and dark lines in this stock are just exquisite, and our images simply do not do it justice. My other weakness is a good bore. Well, the bore looked great the first time I looked down it and after running a patch through and cleaning some dust out, it looked even better. This gun has as nice of a bore on it as I have ever seen. Bright and shiny with strong lands and grooves. It should make a great shooter, but I have never fired it. The metal finish is solid with full coverage and no rust, and it has a gun blue bright finish. It also comes complete with its cleaning rod. As for the serial numbers and markings on the rifle I can't tell you much about that because they are all in Farci.... and I only speak southern English. Other than that, I don't know any more of the history.  All that I can state for sure is that it is a very nice Persian Mauser rifle, and that they are somewhat hard to find these days. I have been proud to have it in my collection and I'm sure that you would enjoy having it in yours. The rifle ships wrapped in bubble wrap for maximum protection. This rifle has been represented here through images and description with 100% accuracy as I know it and if you are not comfortable buying it based on this information Do Not Make the Purchase. All sales are final on this rifle. This rifle is C&R Eligible. The back story. Over the last 30 plus years in the gun business I have acquired some really nice surplus firearms. These guns came from Gun Shows, private collections, and private individuals that I have met along the way, as well as, on occasion, what I would deem as the best of a particular lot when it came in here to Classic. Well, all good things must end and at this point in my life it is time to downsize a little and that includes letting go of some of these "Gun Safe Queens" that I have typically only pulled out to clean ever so often. Now don't get me wrong, there was a time when I would not have even considered giving up one of these firearms as they have been very special to me. However, my daughters show no interest in inheriting them, and at this point in my life I've decided that I would rather see them in the hands of folks that would relish them, than to have them to continue sit in a dark safe here at Classic. Each gun from my private collection is unique and they will sell individually by serial #, so when that gun is gone, it is gone and irreplaceable. At least from me.
