PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This Firearm Will Go Live on The Site for Sale at Noon E.S.T. on Monday Dec 8, 2025.  What a unique opportunity on a beautiful and very rare rifle. The Tokarev SVT-40 Semi-Auto rifle was Soviet Red Army's counterpart to the U.S. M1-Garand. The SVT-40 was put into production in 1940 in the Soviet Tula factory and later at factories in Izhevsk and Podolsk. Much like the M91/30 Mosin Nagant rifles the Tula factory has always been considered the more desirable and this one is definitely a Tula. It has the Tula Star and the date of 1941 on top of the receiver below the sight base. dA few of these rifles were smuggled into the U.S. as bring backs during WWII and a few more were imported for a very short time during the mid to late 1980's, but finding one in the marketplace today is quite rare. Rarer still is finding one in this kind of condition which is virtually mint. The wood is beautiful and well matched, and the bluing is 99%. In fact, this 1941 dated rifle looks brand new. I don't know if it was factory refurbished or not, but I would guess not because of the bore. The bore and bolt face are pristine. I mean the bolt face shows no head cartridge head impressions, and the bore is mirror bright with deep crisp lands and grooves. It looks un-fired, but I know that is not the case because I fired it. If I remember correctly, I put one magazine through it years ago as a function test, and then immediately gave it a thorough cleaning and put it back in the safe. When I was going through the safes to put this lot together for sale, I pulled this one out and was amazed all over again by how nice it was. Particularly the bore because historically when these could be found they had rather poor bores due to corrosive ammo use. Of course, I am a stickler for bore condition and would have never bought or kept it in the first place if it had a poor bore but all I can figure was that this particular rifle never got issued. I won't bore you with the rifle spec's. If you need that, look it up on Wikipedia. But I will tell you about the markings. In addition to the Tula Star and 1941 date there are a couple of very small Soviet stampings on each side of the receiver and the serial # is stamped on the left-hand side. The serial # consist of 6 digits but the first 2 are Soviet letters that would not translate into English followed by the # 6855. 6855 is also stamped into the wood on the stock and etched into the trigger guard's floorplate. The magazine also has an etched number, but it does not match. It has a 24" barrel with a 2.75" muzzle brake bringing the overall barrel length to 26.75. Oh, and this one includes its cleaning rod which is also virtually unheard of. I almost kept this one because like many of the rifles listed, I know that I would never be able to replace it with one of this quality, but at this point, I would rather see someone else enjoy it. The rifle will ship in a box in heavy bubble wrap for maximum protection. This rifle has been represented here through images and description with 100% accuracy as I know it and if you are not comfortable buying it based on this information Do Not Make the Purchase. Rifle will ship in a box heavily wrapped in bubble wrap for maximum protection. All sales are final on this rifle. The back story. Over the last 30 plus years in the gun business I have acquired some really nice surplus firearms. These guns came from Gun Shows, private collections, and private individuals that I have met along the way, as well as, on occasion, what I would deem as the best of a particular lot when it came in here to Classic. Well, all good things must end and at this point in my life it is time to downsize a little and that includes letting go of some of these "Gun Safe Queens" that I have typically only pulled out to clean ever so often. Now don't get me wrong, there was a time when I would not have even considered giving up one of these firearms as they have been very special to me. However, my daughters show no interest in inheriting them, and I've decided that I would rather see them in the hands of folks that would relish them, than to have them to continue sit in a dark safe here at Classic. Each gun from my private collection is unique and they will sell individually by serial #, so when that gun is gone, it is gone and irreplaceable. At least from me. If you no longer see this rifle in inventory, you will know that it has sold.
