The 7430C from Sierra Bullets represents an enhancement in the MatchKing series, donning the crown as the Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet line. This line features an acetal resin tip incorporated into the design, resulting in a lower drag and consequently, a more favorable ballistic coefficient. Other advantages include reliable feeding in magazine-fed firearms, which was an important consideration in the design of these bullets.
The introduction of the 60 Gr. TMK served to fill a void in the 22 caliber Match bullet offerings. Globally known for setting accuracy records, both MatchKing and Tipped MatchKing bullets are not typically recommended for most hunting applications.
While these bullets can see use in varmint hunting, their respective designs do not offer the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints as their counterparts with lighter jackets, such as Hornet, Blitz, or Varminter bullets.
