For a 12 gauge shotgun built for 3-inch shells, this range keeps the load focused on #6 Shot while giving the shopper a choice between upland, waterfowl, and turkey applications. Shot material is a major split: lead and copper-plated lead are common, while steel, tungsten, nickel-plated lead, and Diamond Lead offer other options. Loads most often use plastic casings and commonly carry 1-3/4 oz, with lighter and heavier weights also available.
Kent Ultimate FastLead 6 shot combines 1-3/4 oz Diamond Lead with a plastic casing for upland hunting, while
Kent TealSteel 12-gauge shells uses a 1-1/4 oz steel load for waterfowl hunting and is associated with Fasteel technology;
Remington Wingmaster HD 12GA #6 uses 1-3/8 oz tungsten for waterfowl hunting and is identified as a high-density shot shell;
Federal Premium Wing-Shok High Velocity uses 1-5/8 oz copper-plated lead for upland hunting and has copper-coated shot. Box and case quantities vary across the range, so the package format matters when choosing a load for the intended use. All products are 12 gauge, with the application split chiefly among waterfowl, turkey, and upland hunting.
