A quality concealed carry holster must hold your firearm securely in place and should also be comfortable enough to wear all day, every day. Whether you prefer an appendix rig or a classic strong-side OWB holster, we've got something here for your everyday carry. These are our picks for the best concealed carry holsters available in 2024.
To be considered for our list, each holster must completely enclose the trigger guard and offer some form of retention. Comfort and concealment are also factors, but as both are fairly subjective, we're sticking to holsters we know will work for the majority of shooters. In other words, this blog is not an all-encompassing holster guide and as with everything, your mileage may vary.
C&G's Covert OWB holster is designed to be worn outside the waistband, riding close to the body with the butt of the pistol pulled inward towards the hip. The Covert OWB also has adjustable retention, features an open bottom for threaded barrels, and can accomodate most red dot pistol optics in today's market. Plus, each model is a custom fit for your specific firearm and C&G has many popular models ready to ship - so no more waiting 6-8 weeks to start carrying your new EDC pistol.
Shooters looking for a tough, rigid belt holster will love the Standard OWB's sturdy yet slender profile and rugged metal loops. This holster incorporates a universal curviture that compliments the natural curves of the body, aiding concealment and providing a more comfortable all-day carry. Additionally, it features a slight forward cant and adjustable retention so you can achieve a quick, consistent draw should you ever need to deploy your firearm.
For a minimalist inside the waistband / appendix carry holster, it's tough to beat the Insider IWB from Desantis. This holster is made of leather and utilizes a heavy-duty spring steel belt clip, making it a cost-effective yet incredibly secure option for new gun owners. Although it is unmolded, the leather offers plenty of rigidity for a snug fit and in our experience, the Insider works especially well with compact pistols like the Sig P365 or the Ruger LCP Max.
Safariland is primarily known for their rugged duty holsters, but they also produce a number of sleek EDC rigs for the civilian market. Boasting an ultra-slim profile, the Species IWB holster is the ideal choice for appendix carry due to its minimalist design and durable construction. This holster also features a sued lining for improved fit and to protect the finish on your firearm, a nice feature that isn't typically available with holsters at this price point.
Combining two holsters for the price of one, the Defender can easily be configured for inside or outside-the-waistband carry. Its lightweight design conforms to the body and features adjustable open / closed belt loops, as well as a retention screw that allows you to dial in your preferred draw for either style of carry. Like most dual-clip models, the Defender also provides greater stability than single-clip IWB holsters, which further enhances comfort and concealment.
