The video introduces the Swampfox Raider micro prism optic as a compact, durable 1x prism sight. It is shown mounted on a Colt M4 equipped with a Huxworks Flow 5.56K silencer and an A3 Tactical modular vertical foregrip with an integrated hand stop. The optic is described as non-magnified with an etched reticle, so it remains usable even if the battery fails. The host notes having already fired multiple magazines with the Raider and emphasizes that it is intended as a practical, compact option for rifles and carbines rather than a high-magnification optic.
The Swampfox Raider uses a Bullet Rise Compensation (BRC) reticle that is specific to Swampfox. The reticle features a large horseshoe with a chevron in the center and two additional aiming points for bullet drop compensation. This layout is intended to provide fast target acquisition and accurate shots at close distances such as 5, 10, and 15 yards, with a holdover reference for around 50 to 200 yards. The host highlights how this reticle design suits home-defense or personal-defense rifles, allowing quick, precise engagement at typical indoor and near-yardage distances without complex hold calculations.
The Raider’s etched BRC reticle is illuminated by a CR2032 battery with a stated life of about 50,000 hours. The optic includes a shake-awake feature: after roughly four minutes of no movement, illumination shuts off, and it automatically turns back on when the firearm is moved. This is presented as useful for defensive setups where the user may not remember to activate illumination under stress. The optic offers 10 brightness settings, including two night-vision-compatible modes. Illumination is adjusted via top-mounted buttons, with one button increasing and the other decreasing brightness, and holding the down button turning the illumination off if desired.
A second shooter demonstrates the Swampfox Raider mounted on a PWS MK116 Mod 2 rifle with an LMT ION 5.56 suppressor and an EOTech G33 3x magnifier. Initial shots are taken without the magnifier to assess the optic’s feel, followed by engagements at approximately 90 yards with the magnifier flipped into place. The shooter reports very clear glass, a bright red reticle, and fast target acquisition. The etched reticle remains visible as a black aiming point even without battery power, though illumination is noted as particularly beneficial at night. The combination of the Raider and the 3x magnifier is shown to provide effective hits at the 90-yard distance.
Returning to the Colt M4, the host demonstrates the Raider’s forgiving eye box and eye relief. A clear sight picture is maintained from relatively close to the optic out to a noticeably extended distance, with minimal scope shadow. This flexibility allows the optic to be mounted farther forward on the rail if desired. The Raider ships with two mounts: a 1.6-inch mount suited to standard AR-15 height and a 1.1-inch low mount that places the optic close to the rail for platforms like AP5 or MP5-style firearms or lever guns such as a .45-70. A 1.93-inch mount is mentioned as an upcoming option for users who prefer a taller height over bore.
The optic is shown with an included anti-reflection device installed on the front lens. This honeycomb-style accessory is described as reducing forward glare and reflections that could be visible to game or an opposing shooter. The Raider also comes with lens covers that can clip together and attach directly to the optic’s body when not in use. The housing is made from a die-cast zinc alloy, which Swampfox reports has undergone extensive torture testing, including burning and being run over. The mounting screws that secure the optic to Picatinny rails are titanium, emphasizing a combination of durability and reduced weight. The optic uses a T2 footprint, making it compatible with many Aimpoint-style mounts.
The Raider is then shown mounted with the low 1.1-inch mount on a Henry .45-70 lever-action rifle. The host notes an appreciation for the feel and power of the .45-70 cartridge and fires several rounds at steel Velociraptor-shaped targets. The optic is observed to handle the substantial recoil without apparent issues, maintaining its position and function. The setup uses hollow point .45-70 ammunition, and the Raider continues to provide a clear aiming point under repeated heavy recoil. The host comments that the combination of the lever gun and the micro prism is enjoyable and intends to keep the optic on this rifle for a while, while also considering potential use with a magnifier.
The video closes with discussion of potential future torture testing for the Swampfox Raider beyond what the manufacturer has already performed. Ideas include freezing the optic, then exposing it to high heat, and checking whether it maintains zero after each trial. The host reiterates that the die-cast zinc alloy body and titanium mounting hardware are intended to withstand harsh treatment while holding zero on various platforms. Viewers are invited to suggest additional torture-test scenarios and ask technical questions about the optic. The overall impression presented is that the Raider is a robust, flexible 1x prism suitable for AR-15s, pistol-caliber carbines, and heavier-recoiling rifles like the .45-70 lever gun.
