This Firearm Will Go Live on The Site for Sale at Noon E.S.T. on Monday Dec 8, 2025. Yugoslv M48 rifles are not terribly rare, but really nice original ones are, and this is a really nice original. This one has the original heavy cupped buttplate stock with the original matching serial number to the receiver stamped into the side. The bolt also matches the receiver which is very rare. The floorplate however is a force match with the original number struck through and the new matching number stamped in.The buttstock is in great condition. It is light colored with a beautifu grain and matches perfectly to the handguard with both pieces looking as though they were carved from the same tree. The only real flaw in the stock is that it looks like it may have once been exposed to some moisture from the bottom up because there are some slight water marks just above the buttplate. They have long since dried leaving no structural damage, but since there is some mild discoloration there I did want to mention it. There is also some mild surface rust on the floorplate itself which should clean up easily if so desired. I could have done it but I didn't want to make it appear as if I was hiding anything. Plus, it ain't hurting nothing. The bluing on the rifle itself is not perfect but far better than most M48's that you will find and I would call it somewhere around 95%. It also has a beautiful and well defined Yugo shield on top of the receiver. Most importantl of all though may be the bore. This one is pristine. Mirror bright with crisp lands and grooves. That is most unusual as most M48's on the market unfortunately have rather poor bores. This rifle is 100% complete with all parts intact including the cleaning rod and the capture screws with the only exception being the front sight hood which is missing. The bolt action is smooth as silk and the trigger pull is crisp. It should be a tack driver. There are no import re-numbers and the rifle still carries it's original serial #. I have fired the rifle and it shot great but as with any surplus you may want to have it checked by a gunsmith before firing and as always please practice safe gun handling. I am asking a premium price for this rifle becase to me it is a premium grade rifle. At the same time I'm certain that I couldn't replace it with this quality at this price.... especially with the Frankenstein parted up M48's that are predominantly on the market today. I purchased this one from an individual at a gun show probably 25 years ago and it has been in my climate controlled safe ever since. Now, I'm letting it go. .... This rifle has been represented here through images and description with 100% accuracy as I know it and if you are not comfortable buying it based on this information Do Not Make the Purchase. All sales are final on this rifle. This rifle is C&R Eligible. The back story. Over the last 30 plus years in the gun business I have acquired some really nice surplus firearms. These guns came from Gun Shows, private collections, and private individuals that I have met along the way, as well as, on occasion, what I would deem as the best of a particular lot when it came in here to Classic. Well, all good things must end and at this point in my life it is time to downsize a little and that includes letting go of some of these "Gun Safe Queens" that I have typically only pulled out to clean ever so often. Now don't get me wrong, there was a time when I would not have even considered giving up one of these firearms as they have been very special to me. However, my daughters show no interest in inheriting them, and I've decided that I would rather see them in the hands of folks that would relish them, than to have them to continue sit in a dark safe here at Classic. Each gun from my private collection is unique and they will sell individually by serial #, so when that gun is gone, it is gone and irreplaceable. At least from me. If you no longer see this rifle in inventory, you will know that it has sold. See more about the rifle below.
