What's up everybody. We've got a fun video today talking all about some pistol caliber carbines. We've got the SIG MPX, we've got the Fostech Bulldog, what wait. SP5 has entered the chat. Hey, everybody. Clint here with Classic Firearms, and yes. Like I mentioned just a couple of moments ago, we're talking about some pistol caliber carbines because carbines are, I put in quotations, because carbines are usually not pistols but whatever. Anyway, hey. We've got the SIG MPX, the HK SP5K, and the Fostech Bulldog, which is probably the newest one out of all of these guys, definitely the newest one. And have some pretty sweet features we'll talk about in just a moment. But I wanted to bring these guys out because, well, it's not everyday here at Classic Firearms that we have an MPX and SP5, and something as cool as the Bulldog at the same time. So, figured we'd take advantage of it, shoot this video, talk about some of the different details, components, features of each one, and yeah. So let's just hop right into it, how about it.

The SP5

So let's talk about the OG, the SP5. Now, HK has only recently, within the last year or two, started importing the civilian variant of the very well known MP5, and what we have right here is the K models, a little bit shorter barrel, shorter system all in all. So all of these do feature a four and a half inch barrel, give or take 0.03 inches. But anyway, all of these shoot nine millimeter but none of them have the same type of operating system. This guy here has a roller delayed system, it is fed through a magazine just like all of these other ones are, very cool. And what I like about this guy is it's quality, it's super compact even though, no, it doesn't have a brace like the other two, you can get different brace attachments, SP tactical makes on whatever you want to do. But it does have a sling loop right back here, so if you wanted a single point it up, have that retention up against you and still be able to get out there and shoot this guy, you can. Whatever's comfortable for you. Having such a short little rail space on this guy though does make it a little bit like, where do I want to grip it? Because if you try to go for the C clamp here which is comfortable enough, you're blocking your site, right? But it's easy enough just to probably go like this right here. If only it was full auto, however, could drop a binary trigger in it and have quite a good day. So the SP5 has been around since what? The 1970s, and has just blown up. Everybody loves this gun. Okay. So, I'm sure somebody in the comment sections were like, "Well, I don't love it." Cool. So go ahead and just let me know down there and can boost that engagement. Tell me why you don't like the MP5, or in this case the SP5K. What's cool about it too, is they also do integrate a half by 28 thread pitch on it, so your standard nine mil thread pitch. Great, also the tri-lug adapter on it which is a great mounting system.

Heckler & Koch SP5

Century AP5

Century Arms has recently released the AP5 from MKE out of Turkey. And they have a tri lag little flash hider on it. Pretty cool. MK has been around for a long time too, it was under a different name before. But yeah, cool gun. But this guy here is through and through HK which is very nice. Granted, people will say that the MKE is actually a Turkish HK because it's made all on the same HK tooling, licensing, all that type of fun stuff, but it's always cool to actually see the HK logo right on the top of your SP5, right? I know. HK fanboys, where you at? Go and hit that like button. So super cool gun, the roller delayed action on it is phenomenal, super reliable, great to shoot suppressed, and overall just an awesome firearm. Fast forward a couple of decades, SIG SAUER gets into the market and they're like, "Hey. We want to make our own version of the MP5 but better." That probably just lit a couple of you guys up, right? So this right here is the MPX, and the MPX does not have a roller delayed action. It's actually their own short stroke action which is very cool. And this, out of those other firearms, is definitely a modular firearm. What that means is, you can actually switch out some components on this guy, customize it to whatever application that you want it to be. You can put in different barrel lengths, different railings, things like that, which is super cool. It does have a monolithic upper receiver with a free floated barrel, which is just awesome, adds to accuracy, reliability, everything else.

Sig MPX

And the SIG MPX is overall just a fantastic firearm. You can shoot all sorts of different loads to this guy without any type of issues due to that short stroke system, super reliable. A little heavy but it's not bad, I mean, it's definitely not as heavy as the SP5. So it's definitely lighter, getting into the little bit more modern technology. You've got a Ambi controls on this guy too which is super nice. So right now, if you'd like the bolt lock to the rear, typically your bolt release, AR controls by the way, so we're all familiar with that, right? Bolt release is typically right up here as it still is. But if you want, you also have a bolt release, right? Pretty sweet, right? Mag release here, mag release there so, complete Ambi controls is also... And also a very familiar AR style charging handle right back here. Really nicely done, 30 round mag also. And that's pretty much the similarity, is really as we can see, 30 round mags. Except for this one takes Glock mags, so check that off your list. 33 rounds on that one there. I do like on the monolithic upper receiver that you do have that full length rail. I just said, I'm so loud I've reminded myself of Alec. Anyway, we do have that full length Picatinny rail right up top here, so all sorts of different optics you can throw on there, lasers, lights, whatever tactical needs you could possibly want. And the fact that it has an M lock rail going around is super cool, definitely a fan. And a little dust cover so, what more could you ask for, right? Very much so a resemblance of an AR style firearm. Cool. Also, the trigger on this guy, real nice flat face trigger. You can shoot this guy quick. In fact, we are clear, let me just show this off really quick. So implying a little bit of pressure. I hope you guys are as impressed as I am granted you're not the one over here feeling the trigger but, boy howdy. Oh my God, and that's the release. So yeah, this thing is phenomenal.

Sig Sauer MPX

FosTech Bulldog

If we were to compare that to the MP5, let's go ahead and do that really quick. MP5 was never known for having a phenomenal trigger so give it some credit here, alright? It's been around a lot longer. So, we're just going to show this off, hopefully my black shirt isn't blocking too much of anything, I'll stand off to the side. A little bit of take up before you get a obvious wall, a little bit more pressure. There it goes, cool. And then let's check out that release or reset. Quite a bit of travel compared to the MPX. Still not a bad trigger whatsoever, but speaking of triggers, the one that's going to win them all is the Fostech. Because Fostech is known for their echo triggers and yes. They integrated it into this lightweight compact boy that you see right here, again called the Bulldog. This thing is slam packed with all sorts of awesome features. Everything from the muzzle, to this awesome mushroom shaped type flash hider, really cool looking thing. The rail itself, and walk all the way around, except for the Picatinny that you have up here, so, again, any type of front sight, flashlight, whatever you want to throw there you can. But also to notice the shape of the hand guard here, is almost like a very slim angled fore grip. You've got this minor little hand stop, and then something that's very ergonomic right here, and getting a grip on this guy feels awesome. So if I were to have a little bit higher rise optic here, I could get a very fantastic grip on that guy and yeah, I'm definitely a fan of that. The Picatinny rail on the upper receiver, again, great for optics. Also something really cool on this guy here is the Dead Foot Arms SCW Brace. Yes. This awesome piece of art right back here and riding along these side is the brace on this guy. You've got a little tab right here. I find it easiest just to hit that guy with your thumb like that, deploy it, and now you are ready to rock and roll. Make sure it's nice and tight and boom, you are set. Super cool design, nice and slim which is phenomenal for this type of setup, right? So, really cool. Now, yes. I did talk about the echo trigger in this guy because that's exactly what it has. And so if you flip this guy into semi, right now it's in semi, I pull the trigger it's going to go bang, right? And then we cycle it, you're going to hear the reset, there it is. Now let's flip this guy into the third position, this is echo mode. What that means is, it's going to go bang whenever you pull the trigger and release. And by simulating what I'm doing right now, what you're hearing is the hammer fall, and then once I rack it, it's simulating a round being shot, the bolt coming back resetting that hammer. And then when I release the trigger, it's the hammer falling again to fire that second shot, right? So here it goes bang, you hear it? And bang. Talk about cool, that whole setup and idea is as so much fun. Yes. ATF approved. So there you go. Now what's also neat about this guy is, yeah. It takes Glock mags, right? So for everybody asking that question, you're not going to show one that takes Glock mags. Yes it does, okay? Not like the SIG MPX or the HK SP5 really care what you and your Glock mags think, but yes. The Fostech Bulldog takes Glock mags.

FosTecH Bulldog

It actually uses a Stern Defense magwell adapter. So it is like a 556, 300 Blackout lower. So if you're looking for a great... The Sylvan arms makes one nice Glock conversion kit. But Stern Defense what they have on these are really comfortable and ergonomic. And Glock mags, this is an OEM Glock mag, just double-checking. And fits perfectly in there, locked in, ready to go. And then you can either hit it with your trigger finger, or what I simply like to do is just reach back, grab, I guess that's probably the easiest way to show you, and then I'm ready to rock and roll. Easy enough, and this one is true AR controls. So, does cover, right? You've got your safety in the same position, charging handle of course, and even takes AR different types of pistol grips. So if you wanted to throw something else on there, you can. But I really like the rubber over molded Fostech grips. These things are very nice and comfortable. I know a lot of you all make fun of me for how much I harp on how terrible the A2 grip is, but this one here has a quite, a very little similarity to the A2, which is that little bit of a tab that's sticking out, but it's not so intrusive that I feel like my middle and my ring finger are just up here getting crammed, right? This thing, actually, if I want to get a nice, good, grip on it, I feel comfortable and it's not forcing me into a uncomfortable position. So, nicely done Fostech on this guy, right? And the fact that it takes Glock mags, am I right? So this is a direct blow back design which is, pretty much, a lot of your more popular like the CZ scorpion which, I know, I know, I know, I didn't bring my scorpion out to play on this one but CZ Scorpion's a little bit more popular, or at least easier to find. I wanted to bring out some stuff that I don't typically see. So here we are, right? But anyway, the CZ Scorpion's got a direct low back design, the Fostech Bulldog it's the direct blowback design is the something that you're going to see that's a little bit more prevalent on a lot of popular pistol caliber carbines. Remember the roller delayed action on this guy, just old school cool, it works. And then SIGs, short stroke system on the MPX is phenomenal. Now, if you'd like to actually see these guys go head to head at the range, maybe see some live fire testing, something like that, especially maybe of the echo trigger, let me know down in the comments section. And of course, to do that, that's going to take some ammunition. I said it. So, we're going to definitely need a lot of nine mils, especially if I want to fill that trigger and just mag dump for days with that guy there. Speaking of which, if it hasn't already shown up, that ammo drop should be here very, very, soon. I know I said February but, things that were out of our control, delivery issues, it wasn't us, okay? It's coming.
