The Spyderco C242CFP is a uniquely designed pocketknife created by Paul Alexander, a renowned mechanical engineer with a Ph.D. and an aficionado of knives. The Ikuchi (ee-koo-chee), named after a legendary sea creature from Japanese folklore, offers a fresh and inventive perspective on pocketknife design and functionality.
The knife boasts a stylishly curved handle featuring full skeletonized stainless-steel liners and overlaying scales made of carbon fiber and G-10 laminate. When the knife is closed, its slender, open-backed profile conceals the blade wonderfully, leaving only a small textured portion of the tang visible, designed to function as a flipper opener.
The blade, deriving from top-quality CPM S30V stainless steel and applying a full-flat-ground technique, unfolds securely with a simple motion of an index finger or a thumb, thanks to Spyderco's trademarked Compression Lock system. The knife also includes a reversible deep-pocket wire clip for subtle, convenient left, or right-side tip-up carry, rounding off this excellent package.
