Spring 2024 EDC overview

Clint introduces another everyday carry pocket dump for spring 2024, noting that it still feels like winter where he is despite the snow finally melting. His core EDC remains consistent: a SIG P365X Macro, holsters from Alpha Omega Kydex (referred to as AO Kydex), a Columbia River Knife & Tool folder, and a SureFire Stiletto light. He plans to walk through those items and then highlight an additional piece of gear used when running. The focus is on how each item fits into his daily routine and how clothing, holsters, and equipment need to work together for a practical, comfortable carry setup.

SIG P365X Macro Legion carry setup

The primary carry pistol is a SIG P365X Macro Legion with an all-metal, compensated frame. Clint notes it is heavier than polymer options but emphasizes that a quality holster and proper clothing make carrying a larger, heavier pistol manageable. The pistol is carried appendix inside the waistband in an AO Kydex holster with a spare 17-round magazine, giving a 17+1 capacity plus a reload. The gun is equipped with a SIG Romeo X red dot and a SIG Foxtrot 2R weapon light, which he describes as having solid candela with a defined beam and usable spill for target identification. He compares carrying a weapon light to owning a fire extinguisher or backup sights: it may not be used often, but it is better to have it and not need it. He also mentions using a Nexbelt ratcheting belt that is thin yet rigid and resists sagging.

Knife choice and features

For his pocket knife, Clint continues to favor Columbia River Knife & Tool, which he has carried for decades. After forgetting his previous EDC knife at the airport and having to discard it, he switched to a backup that has now become his primary everyday knife. The knife is an orange CRKT M16 Tac 14Z with a stainless tanto blade. He values three main features: a glass breaker, a seatbelt cutter, and the high-visibility orange handle. The glass breaker and cutter are intended for emergencies such as vehicle accidents where rapid egress is needed. The orange color makes the knife easy to find if dropped or buried in gear, a preference he notes was shared by his father. He is unsure if this exact model is still in production but plans to buy more if possible.

SureFire Stiletto Pro light setup

Clint carries a standalone light in addition to his pistol-mounted light, specifically the SureFire Stiletto Pro. He describes it as similar to the Stiletto Turbo, with higher candela and a more focused beam than earlier Stiletto models, while still offering multiple brightness levels. The light has a top button for constant-on and mode selection, and a rear switch for momentary activation and a strobe feature. The clip position is adjustable using the included Torx wrench. He initially reversed the clip so the light rode head-down in his pocket, but a power outage highlighted the benefit of the factory orientation: clipped to the brim of a hat, it functions as a hands-free headlamp while he works on tasks like starting a generator. He ultimately prefers the clip position that keeps the lens up in the pocket to support that use case.

Eye protection and eyewear options

Addressing questions about his sunglasses, Clint explains that he has moved to wearing Wiley X glasses with true ballistic ANSI-rated lenses. He stresses the importance of proper eye protection on the range, especially when shooting close to steel or in situations where fragments and splash are possible. The Wiley X models he uses include a pair called the Founders and another green pair with stainless arm bars, though he favors the Founders for their light weight and comfort. He contrasts these with his Ray-Ban Meta glasses, which appear in many videos and incorporate cameras for first-person video and photos. The ballistic Wiley X glasses are prioritized for safety, while the Ray-Ban Meta glasses are used when capturing point-of-view footage.

Vehicle trauma kit and medical gear

In his vehicle, Clint keeps a dedicated first aid and trauma kit mounted on MOLLE panels from Rago Fabrication in his 4Runner. The kit is a removable trauma pack that attaches with Velcro, allowing it to be quickly pulled out and carried to a scene. It includes tourniquets on each side and a self-contained interior layout for managing bleeding and other injuries. He notes that serious bleeding is common in bad car crashes and pileups, making the ability to stop the bleed critical. The kit also contains smaller items such as over-the-counter pain relievers. He views this medical setup as an essential part of everyday preparedness, on par with carrying a firearm, and appreciates that the MOLLE panels let him organize and secure gear throughout the vehicle.

Running rig with backup P365X Macro

For running, Clint uses an AWS Inc. tactical fanny pack configured as a concealed carry rig. The zipper pulls are intentionally staged so he can quickly grab the correct one under stress without accidentally opening the entire pouch. Inside, he carries a second SIG P365X Macro, this one a standard P365X Macro equipped with a Holosun HS507K X2 red dot. He does not mount a weapon light on this pistol because he does not run in the dark, though the pack has room for a separate flashlight if needed. The interior includes a holster to secure the pistol and a front Velcro holster for an extra magazine, which he keeps loaded. He emphasizes that owning a gun is not enough; it must be carried consistently, and he carries wherever he is legally allowed, including during activities like running.
