PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This Firearm Will Go Live on The Site for Sale at Noon E.S.T. on Wednesday Dec 10, 2025. What a unique opportunity on a beautiful and very rare rifle. The Hakim Semi-Auto rifle was Egypt's counterpart to the U.S. M1-Garand or Soviet SVT-40 Tokarev rifles. The Hakim was put into production by the Ministry of Military Production branch of the Egyptian Government in the 1950's. The word Hakim means "Ruler" in the Egyptian language and once you pull the trigger on this rifle you will know why. The rifle features a removable box magazine but, on the battlefield, it was typically fed through the top with a stripper clip. I never had the stripper clip, so I always just removed the mag, loaded it outside of the gun, then re-inserted it. Helpful hint. Everyone who has ever picked this gun up has struggles with the mag, but once you know how it works it is quite simply. The mag latch consists of a spring-loaded toggle with a mag latch lever that locks the mag. However, releasing the lever does not release the mag.... moving the toggle forward toward the mag while the locking lever is released does. The first time I ever held one of these I couldn't figure that out and had to call the importer to get my mag out of my gun. Like many things, once you know the proper method, it is very simple. Charging the first round is rather unique too and is best learned with the mag out of the weapon due to the bolt hold open device that deploys when the mag is empty. I had to call the importer back about that one too. To chamber the first round, push the charging handle on the right-hand side of the dust cover all the way forward. This will engage the bolt allowing you to pull the bolt and carrier back to the rear along with the dust cover. Then, a short push forward on the dust cover and pull back will release the bolt forward chambering the first round. Fortunately, this is not the 1980's like t was for me and there are YouTube video's now showing everyone how to operate this gun. Once mastered, and that part is actually very simply, just different, you will appreciate the uniqueness of it. Heck, the Hakim has always been one of my favorite platforms. It is an absolute joy to shoot and 7.92x57 (8MM Mauser) is very common and easy to find. There were only around 70,000 of these ever produced and while a few importers were able to bring in small quantities as surplus in the late 80's that dried up very quickly and now running across a Hakim is very rare. This one is exceptional. Typical light surplus wear on the outside but I would still call it 90 to 95%. The inside is even better. The bolt face doesn't show any evidence of use, and the bore is mirror bright with sharp lands and grooves. Having one with a good bore is really extremely rare since corrosive ammo was commonly used but the bore on this one is beautiful. I think I put about one 20 round box of ammo through it in one session just to be sure it functioned properly and then cleaned it up and put it back in the safe. I almost kept this one because like many of the rifles listed, I know that I would never be able to replace it with one of this quality, but at this point, I would rather see someone else enjoy it. This rifle has been represented here through images and description with 100% accuracy as I know it and if you are not comfortable buying it based on this information Do Not Make the Purchase. Rifle will ship in a box heavily wrapped in bubble wrap for maximum protection. All sales are final on this rifle. The back story. Over the last 30 plus years in the gun business I have acquired some really nice surplus firearms. These guns came from Gun Shows, private collections, and private individuals that I have met along the way, as well as, on occasion, what I would deem as the best of a particular lot when it came in here to Classic. Well, all good things must end and at this point in my life it is time to downsize a little and that includes letting go of some of these "Gun Safe Queens" that I have typically only pulled out to clean ever so often. Now don't get me wrong, there was a time when I would not have even considered giving up one of these firearms as they have been very special to me. However, my daughters show no interest in inheriting them, and I've decided that I would rather see them in the hands of folks that would relish them, than to have them to continue sit in a dark safe here at Classic. Each gun from my private collection is unique and they will sell individually by serial #, so when that gun is gone, it is gone and irreplaceable. At least from me. If you no longer see this rifle in inventory, you will know that it has sold.
