The ammunition shortage that started in early spring of last year along with the onset of this unfamiliar territory and unexpected worldwide Plague that we call COVID, unfortunately, continues today and for the foreseeable future. I am with ya, it is not fun! It is getting warmer outside, and I have finally saved up enough money to buy the Henry Rifle that I have been wanting for a while, and I want to take it to the outside range. With limitations on ammo or not being able to find it at all, my Henry Rifle will likely just be a $1,400 wall hanger! The ammo shortage of 2020 has passed, and I suppose by now it is not news to anyone that we are facing 2021 under the same miserable absence of our favorite ammunition. Thinking about reloading then? The prices for reloading supplies have gone up, especially black powder and brass if you have to buy them.

SO WHAT IS GOING ON EXACTLY?

To say that the year 2020 will be unforgettable is an understatement. With cultural clashes and an intensifying dangerous pandemic throughout the world, Americans lost basic freedoms and faced shortages of supplies like never before. Confused by what exactly was going on and how bad it was going to get, many and I mean MANY Americans decided it was time to become armed. Americans weren't becoming armed to engage in riots or insurgence but to protect their very own family and property. Americans purchased firearms in an unbelievable abundance, and with their firearm purchases, came ammunition purchases. As factories shut down all over the world, so did factories making ammunition components. Even if some would have been up and running, if all components are not available to make even a standard cartridge, then there is no cartridge making at all. This is what happened as factories started opening back up. Still, you see the process was abnormally delayed. To further the supply chain woes of ammunition availability, some Americans began to hoard ammunition. Some purchases reached record-breaking levels in the surmountable thousands of dollars. This was not done with ill intent, but it certainly has affected supply. Everyone wants to know that they have enough ammo in case they need it, therefore, limitations on purchases of ammunition found its way into our daily conversations, not out of griping, but out of concern, ok some griping.

MITIGATION

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about ways to mitigate your ammo supply shortage, or at least be on the front lines of the notification of availability. If you skipped over that article (shame, shame), it is important for you to know how to navigate through this ammo crisis, I will add it below. Please read, as it could help you out tremendously.

Q: Are there requirements for purchasing ammunition online?

Wolf Performance 7.62x39 123gr FMJ Ammunition

A: Sure. Purchasing ammunition online does not negate the laws pertaining to retail sales in brick and mortar stores. Again, know the laws in your area before purchasing. Some requirements, depending on the ammo and jurisdiction, must still be met. For instance, some rules that may apply are; be at least 21 years of age, no felonies, not dishonorably discharged from military service, adjudication of mental defect, not a fugitive, not convicted of domestic violence, not have renounced US citizenship, or never have been the subject of a restraining or protection order from a court.

Q: Are there any advantages to purchasing ammunition online?

A: You bet your assets there are! So let's have a little truth in advertising real quick. Ammunition is expensive right now for everyone, especially the more common calibers. While we can boast low prices for most items, we are in the same boat as everyone else when it comes to acquiring ammunition in 2021. It costs us more as well to get ammunition. Cost aside, that is if we can even get the ammunition because of the continuing nationwide shortage, it goes super fast. An advantage that you can get over other ammunition shoppers is to sign up for Classics SMS Texts. Receiving a text message from Classic is the quickest way to know when we receive shipments of ammunition. You will be the first to know! So log on quickly and secure your purchase, because you, along with everyone else, are looking for the same calibers. It is first-come, first-served for all online and in-store retailers right now, causing some purchase restrictions so that there is enough for everyone to get at least some of the hot commodity. So please be patient with our website, as it tends to run a little slower as soon as the texts go out, and please be patient with us as we are committed to bringing you ammunition at competitive prices. Trust me, we purchase as much as we can in every order, but that doesn't mean that our order will always be fulfilled to that quantity.

Q: Is there anything else that I can do to make sure that I get the ammunition that I need?

A: Get creative and think outside of the box. How about considering buying a not as mainstream caliber firearm. Have you ever thought about a surplus firearm? Now is the time to take that leap if you have ever considered either. The less common calibers and ammunition for military surplus firearms are actually available right now! If you have ever thought about purchasing an AK or SKS in 7.62x39mm, pull the trigger! We have plenty of ammo for it. Y'all know what a fan of the AK-47 I am, but if you have been on the fence about owning one, now is the time to try it out! The rifles are not expensive in comparison to today's sporting rifles and the ammunition is readily available! So to overcome the ammo non-availability issues and the skyrocketing cost of even the most common 9mm ammo, consider a caliber change. It is always a good idea to have various calibers in your arsenal. A great example is shotgun ammo. With social gatherings at an all-time low and the constant whispers of martial law in our minds, humans, being the mammals that we are, need to be outside and need to interact. Consider a shotgun if you don't already have one. Shotshells are still inexpensive, and availability is not an issue. A day at a skeet and clay range could cost under a hundred bucks. The satisfaction that you will get in return for a day at the range far exceeds the price that you will pay for a day of outdoor activity and being around like-minded people. It is regenerative therapy!
