A Refreshing Take On The Tactical 1911

Springfield Armory's Tactical Response Pistol was originally developed for the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team (HRT), an elite counterterrorism unit that utilizes cutting-edge weapons and tactics to respond to occurrences of domestic terror in the United States. Given HRT's demanding yet incredibly sensitive mandate, they needed a sidearm that was every bit as versatile and precise as its operatives.

The aptly-named TRP 1911 was the result of extensive trials conducted to design the ultimate tactical handgun platform and quickly became a favorite of law enforcement and 1911 aficionados alike. It has since been regarded as one of the finest production semi-auto pistols ever created and also inspired Springfield's other lines of tactical 1911 pistols.

A Return To Form

Now in 2024, Springfield Armory is releasing several newly enhanced variants of the iconic tactical 1911 pistol. Each TRP model is built from a forged, hand-fitted steel frame and slide for unparalleled reliability. Additional features include an ambidextrous thumb safety, a skeletonized hammer, forward and top slide serrations, a skeletonized Gen 2 speed trigger, and a two-piece magwell for faster reloads.
