The Classic Firearms team covered lots of exciting new rifles at SHOT Show 2025 and now that the show is over, we're ranking our favorites. Here are our picks for the top 5 new rifles unveiled this year.
New for 2025, the AP53 and the AP51 (chambered in .223 / 5.56 NATO and .308 Win / 7.62 NATO respectively) strike an attractive balance between classic design and modern functionality. These HK-style roller delayed blowback pistols pay homage to the iconic G3 rifle while affording shooters the improved convenience and mobility of a large frame pistol.
Following the trend of modernized HK clones, the Sentis AMR is an additive-printed rifle based on the iconic G36 design. This project was an important proof of concept for Sentis, but more importantly, it provides an additional avenue for consumers in the U.S. to obtain a G36 rifle. We're looking forward to getting some time behind the trigger so we can let you know exactly how it shoots.
Insite Armory unveiled their 100% American-made SVD sniper rifle at SHOT Show this year and to say that Matt was excited would be an understatement. Available for about half the cost of an authentic surplus SVD, these rifles are manufactured in Texas with extreme attention to detail, so the final product is as close to the original as possible.
Of course, we had to include HK's new MR556 A4 on our list. This rifle is as close as the civilian market will get to the military HK 416, boasting a number of improvements over the original MR556 A1. Kaya was able to shoot one during Industry Day At The Range and we're happy to report the MR556 A4 is a phenomenal shooter. It could even make a great giveaway...
SNT Motiv was by far the most-requested booth during our SHOT Show 2025 coverage, as they're bringing back the Daiwoo K2 in a modernized semi-auto rifle. Like most of our audience, we're thrilled this AR / AK hybrid is making a comeback and we can't wait to get our hands on one so we can take it out to the range with us.
A Geissele bolt action rifle definitely wasn't on our SHOT Show 2025 bingo card, but the King Hunter was a welcome surprise. This rifle is packed full of features and promises to deliver the precision and performance you've come to expect from Geissele. To learn more about this amazine bolt gun, read our blog here.
