Let's go ahead and talk about the top five futuristic guns. And we're talking about guns that hit innovation, modularity, futuristic characteristics, which neither one of these have.

FN Ballista

Hey everybody, Clint here with Classic Firearms. Coming at you guys today with another top five video. But this one is all about our top five futuristic guns. And I know what a lot of you are thinking. For the first one up here, we've got the FN Ballista and for the first of our top five futuristic guns, we're selecting a bolt gun? Yes, yes, absolutely we are selecting a bolt-action gun because whenever you got something this modular, this cool looking, and as much technology is packed into this guy, yeah, absolutely we're going to have a bolt gun in here because I still think bolt guns are probably still going to be the most precise shooting platforms out there. Sure, semi-auto has made its way. Semi-auto guns are super-accurate, they've made advancements throughout time and in technology, but bolt guns are just tried and true and it's kind of like the stick-shift of the world. I mean, you're literally changing gears over there. And though autos are really fun, got to know the basics, right? Especially whenever you're reaching out the distance. Then again, full-auto guns are much more fun than automatic cars and stick-shift cars are better than automatic cars and more fun. It just depends on your style. But anyway, all right, a whole different conversation for a different day. We can have that conversation down in the comments section if you want. But the FN Ballista, guys, is super-cool. Now this was FN's entrenched and pretty much the special operations command sniper platform and what they did do correct on this guy was make it completely modular. Unfortunately, well, I'm not going to say... Well, maybe it is Remington. Remington did beat out FN for the contract, but Remington ain't doing so hot now. So curious to see how that's going. Anyway, FN made this gun completely modular. So it even says on the receiver, which might be kind of difficult for you guys to see, but right up top, over here it says 760 by 51 NATO, 300 wind mag, 338 Lapua, all right here which I think is pretty neat. And on this package, they actually include the barrel already attached, which is the 338 Lapua barrel and we gave one of these ones away. And shooting the 338 is a heck of a lot of fun, but this one also includes the 308 barrel. And you might be thinking too, it's like, "Well, why isn't it 760 by 51 if that's the military cartridge." And it's like well, if you guys remember our video where we did a comparison to 308 and 762 NATO, it's actually backwards of 556 and 223, where 223 doesn't have the pressures that 556 does. 762 NATO doesn't have the pressures that 308 does. 308 is actually a higher pressurized cartridge believe it or not. So, having a chamber built for 308 makes sense in this situation here. But the FN Ballista is super-cool, guys. The thing here is, like I said, modular in that aspect, you can fold the stock on this guy. It's got a little button over here that you just depress and it folds off to the side, which is great. I've made the joke before about concealed carry, but yeah, that's been long overdone. Having the folding stock really helps with transporting and things like that. That's really what it comes down to. And then you've got the button over here, you just press it and it unfolds. And there you go. It does have an adjustable comb height, and also your length of pull as well. And the trigger on this guy is phenomenal. Yes we are empty magazine is in there, just for looks. But take a look at the pull on this guy. It does have a grip safety as well, so you just got to keep that in mind when shooting this guy but right here, you've got a two-stage trigger where you take up a little bit of travel here, as you can see, right before I hit that wall, apply a little bit more pressure and away it goes. That is nothing... Beautiful. So, really a cool gun that is absolutely gorgeous. And I think it's time to talk about our first futuristic semi-auto. Let's bring in the M10.

FN Ballista

M+M M10X Zhukov

Next up, we've got M+M's M10X Zhukov. And, I know it's a lot of Ms there, but anyway, M and M's M10X is quite honestly what I think the future of the AK. The AK futurized, and it still has the long-stroke gas piston system in it which is very loved, and really M+M just kind of took it and said, "Hey, how can we make the AK still a reliable beast, but add quite the modularity and futuristic type of styles that we can have on it?" And this is what we've got right here. So you still have the 16 inch barrel on it. Instead of doing a 14-1 left-hand twist thread pitch, they did go with a five eights 24, so it takes your 762 NATO or 308-type muzzle devices. You do have an adjustable gas system on it, which is pretty cool. So if you did want to shoot this guy suppressed, it would be easy to do without over-gassing the gun, or just turning it down just a little bit to make it cycle a little bit better. And they've also added something that the AK doesn't typically have, which is ambi controls. You've got an ambi short-throw safety and I mean a very short-throw safety. I mean, right there, we're talking 45 degrees, which is very cool. The charging handle is also ambi which I like quite a bit because on guns like the M14, M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, AK, the charging handle is always off to the right hand side over here. And so you either have to kind of like turn the gun, which is what I typically do and do kind of like a over the top of the gun reach instead of under the bottom. And for this one here being right-handed friendly, that's why Matt loves the AKs and things because they're much more friendly to him. But, he's left-handed, obviously. But anyway, this guy just has a bolt, or excuse me, a charging handle over here, which you just can pop out and switch to the other side if you like the traditional AK style. Pretty cool stuff. We still see the proven paddle-release for an AK, so if you wanted to get your tactical little sling in there you could, or throw or whatever you want to call it, mag change, let's just keep it simple. But it still takes standard AK mags, which are a-plenty. Still chambered in 762 by 39, also QD sling mounts all over the place on this guy. You got two of them right up here, another one right back here, and then even one on the stock itself. And it is the Magpul Zhukov stock, which is kind of why it's the M10X Zhukov because it comes with this stock and it does fold off to the side if you want it to. And it folds off to the side utilizing the charging handle either way. It's still clear, which is pretty cool. But if you fold it up like this right here, boom, you are all set. And it's very nice. Now also too what's super-nice about this guy is the trigger. So let's go ahead and check out the trigger really quick. I do have it clear here, and we're going to apply a little bit of pressure on this guy. A little bit of take-up right before you hit that wall, a little bit more and you are there. Coming in about just over four pounds or so. And let's feel that reset. Reset is a little long, but not bad. You can hear it nice and audible there. Very cool. Also too I like the grip on this guy quite a bit. So it's nice and texturized and it feels really ergonomic and good. Now the last thing, I think probably the most important thing about this guy is that it has a complete monolithic upper, which is very cool. So it's all still free-floated as far as I can tell through here, nothing's touching the barrel other than the gas system itself, but it being monolithic, all one piece, you don't have to dissemble a whole bunch of things. It's actually a very simple concept. It's a simple design and it still has that long-stroke system in it that's very reliable, robust, and people love it. So, this is the M10X by M+M and it is a gorgeous rifle too, especially in that burnt bronze. Last thing to denote though is unlike the AK, this is not shipped with any iron sights. So this does come optics-ready with the rail, the Picatinny rail, running the full length of the upper receiver, which is really cool. So you can throw on all sorts of accessories and attachments, whatever you want, and then having the capability of throwing M-Lok attachments everywhere else. Which is, yeah, again, super-cool. Also, integrated little hand stuff up here and it feels perfect. Yeah, way on up there. That's nice. So, really sweet rifle. Let's move on to the next one.

M+M Industries M10x Zhukov

Desert Tech MDR

Next up is a gun by a company we've talked quite a bit about here. Desert Tech. Now, you know them for the HTI, which is the bullpup mag-fed 50 BMG bolt-action rifle. Gave away one of those as well. That thing is sweet. But what we've got today is another semi-auto on the table here, and this is the MDR, but this isn't just any MDR. This one is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. Notice the SR-25 style mag back here. And I am a huge fan of 6.5 Creedmoor. And that alone I think is kind of why we've got this one on the table here, as far as one of the five futuristic guns, because 65 Creedmoor seems to be the future for that full rifle/intermediate cartridge, or full-power rifle cartridge is what I'm trying to say. But, we're not getting into that sniper territory, like .338 or a .300 win mag, things like that. So just a little less power. But 6.5 Creedmoor is a flat-shooting, an accurate round that still has a lot of energy left after several hundred, even thousand yards, which is pretty cool. But MDR here is very nice because it has that bullpup design. The bullpup design I always thought, even though it's been around for a while, was very futuristic. Because you're taking the same size barrel, not losing any velocity on anything, but overall shortening the gun because you've taken the firing actions and replaced them, or pretty much moved them further back. Which is pretty cool. Back behind the trigger group. So you've taken what could be considered a DMR-style gun with DMR accuracy and just shortened it a little bit, which I think is awesome because now it's something very easy, compact, easy to wield and everything else. And you're not going to be fatigued over a period of time because you got so much happening as far as weight being further away from the body. Pretty cool. Now, Desert Tech also makes their guns very modular. I can take off the rail on this guy with only the turn of a couple of Allen keys, or these are Torx, excuse me. So very nice there, but it's still very solid in place and doesn't feel like I'm going to lose zero if I had to throw any type of lasers or whatever else on this guy. Easy to throw on grips though, it does have an adjustable gas block as well. So again, I'm going to bring up suppression, might be something kind of fun to do with this guy. Also to Picatinny rail running the top of the rail again. So if you wanted to throw on optics, you can. Ambi controls all the way around. Mag release, as you can see, you got a button here, but if you're going for one of those tactical reloads where you still got rounds in the mag and you want to retain the magazine that still has it, but want a FITA, fully loaded mag, you've got a little mag release right here. You press that guy. And now you can pocket this, get out your fresh mag, and ready to rock and roll with one in the chamber. Sweet, right? So pretty cool stuff. Ambi charging handle as well, as you can see here, it kind of looks like a little wing popping out, very nice. And something else super-cool about this guy that I like a lot is the, not the little tiny dust cover, but the ejection port alone is very unique and something I think very cool because you can actually just switch it out by hitting this tab, moving that forward, popping this guy out, doing the same thing on the reverse side, and replacing either the ejection port or the block. And now you can have the brass being ejected this way, or this way, but on the opposite side of the gun, which makes it very ambidextrous and left-handed, or right-handed favorably to the shoot. So yeah, overall, this gun is super-cool. Short-throw safety again, also ambidextrous. And I like it a lot. Let's move on to the next one.

Desert Tech MDRX

Chiappa Rhino

Next up we're talking about this little beast and when I say beast, I'm specifically referring to the Rhino by Chiappa. And this guy is super-cool. Now you might be looking at it, it's like, "But it's just a revolver." But it's the technology and I guess the innovation behind this revolver is what makes it so futuristic. And that is what this video is all about. So if you take a look at it, you're going to notice right off the get go, the barrel looks like it's in a complete wrong spot on the gun. It looks like it should be up here, right? Well, no. They went with the lower barrel, which gives you a lower bore axis, which helps with recoil. And when shooting this guy, it feels like it's more straight back, which is... Instead of going a muzzle flip, it's just straight back, pretty neat stuff. But it's also shooting from obviously the lowest chamber in the cylinder in that case and the design and everything behind it is just very unique. This one is a double action, single action gun. And it's got one of the best triggers I have felt when it comes to a revolver also. That is nice. Now, something else that's pretty cool on it, you notice this guy here, that's not a hammer. That's more of just a... I don't know, I guess it's assisting the action, in a sense. I can't think of the actual word that this is called, but you can still treat it like a hammer, but all it's doing, it's cocking the internal hammer. There we go. It's an external cocker. That's all there is to it. So right now it's in its single-action state. Notice there's going to be no travel whatsoever when I pull the trigger here. Boom, ready to go. Now in it's double-action state you can see how much further the trigger is. It's going to take a little bit more pressure, but it's still going to go bang, right? Now, very cool. And even the cylinder release on it I think is just something really nice. Just this tab right here you can just hit with your thumb and then pop the cylinder out with your index finger, which makes for a very pleasant reloading experience. And overall the Chiappa Rhino is just a cool looking gun coming also too with fiber-optic sights on a revolver, Picatinny rail underneath if you wanted to throw a laser on it. Picatinny rail up here if you want to throw a red dot on it. This guy just screams innovation and future for a revolver, which I think is just really cool. Let's move on to the next now.

Chiappa Rhino

LWRCI SMG-45

First it was the Tommy gun, then the grease gun. First it was the HK UMP 45. Then this sexy little beast, the LWRCI SMG-45. And if you've been around the channel any length of time, you've heard me talk about the SMG-45 and my absolute infatuation with this gun. And you've also seen our shot show coverage, NRA annual meet coverage, and where we spoke with LWRCI, and of course, every time we go there, yeah, we want to talk about the Reaper and all that type of cool stuff. But can I play with the SMG some? Guys, this gun, this little sub-gun here has all sorts of things that you just don't typically see in this compact little guy. Either like you see with the MP-5, you see the roller-delayed action, but this guy's got a short recoil, delayed action on it that is just very unique and offers such a pleasant shooting experience. It's ridiculous how fun and easy this gun shoots. So first off it's got a reciprocating barrel on it. That's your short action or your inertia action that this goes back about a quarter inch and then there's a locking lug that actually separates the chamber from the barrel. And then that allows the momentum of the chamber to come back and then of course pick up the next round and then lock the barrel back into place and then it's back in the battery. And then it's just ready to keep on shooting. Shooting it suppressed without having to make any type of adjustments to a gas system, don't have to worry about that because this thing just eats it up. It just keeps on running. And 45 ACP is such a fun caliber to go ahead and suppress since it's naturally subsonic anyway. Guys, my love for this gun just keeps on growing and it's for obvious reasons. I mean, look at it. It's a beautiful little pistol and yes, it is considered a pistol with the side folding SB tactical brace. Oh man, ambi controls, everything else about it is just sexy. I love it.

LWRCI SMG-45

But anyway, on this guys, I think for the top five futuristic guns with just how complicated this little guy is and just how, again, how attractive it is, this is going to be my pick for the top futuristic guns, even though it's kind of taking some old, I guess you could say, operations, and then just kind of combining them. I don't think we've seen anything like it before. If we have, and I'm just not thinking of it, or I don't know of it, let me know down in the comment section below. And for that guys, I'm going to go ahead and end it for this video and our top five futuristic guns. What other guns did I leave off the list that you think, "How could you possibly," how could I possibly ever leave this gun off the list? Let me know down in the comment sections, and guys always check out our website, ClassicFirearms.com, because we like to spread the 2A right everywhere we possibly can. And that's typically through our giveaways. We might be giving away a Barrett M82, another SMG-45. Yes, another SMG-45, maybe a Maxim PDX, maybe a Steyr Aug, maybe an FAL, or just about anything you see up here. So don't miss out on that. Again, ClassicFirearms.com is where you can find us.
