The Sicario films have been lauded for their realistic portrayal of firearms handling and CQB tactics. Additionally, the guns used in both films are kitted out and deployed as they would be in real life.
2018’s Day Of The Soldado shows this most clearly through its intense firefights and vehicle chase sequences. The action allows each firearm to shine, though some do admittedly stand out more than others. Here’s our list of the top 5 guns used in Sicario 2: Day Of The Soldado.

H&K 417 / MR762
The HK 417 / MR762 is used during the film’s climax to disable a vehicle full of cartel soldiers. An awesome over-the-shoulder shot shows the operator fire a single round through the windshield, taking out the driver as the helicopter lands.

M240 Bravo
After cartel members initiate an ambush using RPG-7s, the Mexican Federal Police fire upon the convoy with a vehicle-mounted M240 Bravo. The Humvee is outfitted with exceptional plot armor, so the characters make it through mostly unscathed.

Daniel Defense M4A1
CIA officer Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) uses a Daniel Defense M4A1 as his primary throughout the film. Notably, he engages several cartel members with it - including one that is using a young girl as a human shield. The Daniel Defense works incredibly well and looks great, too.
Beretta 92FS Centurion
In perhaps the most memorable scene from the sequel, Alejandro Gillick (Benicio Del Toro) uses bump fire while wielding a Beretta 92 Centurion. Numerous fan theories have posited that this was done to simulate automatic fire, thus linking the hit to the cartel.

H&K UMP 45
The HK UMP 45 is Alejandro’s weapon of choice during the middle third of the movie’s runtime. It features prominently during the ambush and ensuing shootout with the federales before he buries it on his way to cross the border back into the U.S.

Smith & Wesson 910
A distant relative of S&W’s metal-frame Wonder Nine, the 5906, the 910 makes an appearance as Alejandro’s preferred sidearm at the start of film. It’s always a treat to see a 3rd Gen S&W semi-auto make an appearance on the big screen!

AK-47 Underfolder
Many cartel soldiers are seen armed with AK-47 rifles with underfolder stocks. Notably, several operators also use the AK-47 Underfolder while staging a kidnapping to shift blame to a rival cartel.

Though it only appears briefly, the pistol used to “execute” Alejandro is immediately recognizable as a Sig Sauer P226 Tacops with an extended magazine. Alejandro survives through sheer luck and force of will - which is great for fans who hope to see him in the series’ third installment.
