Classic Firearms meets with Todd from Jacob Grey Firearms at SHOT Show 2026 to discuss the latest developments in the company’s 2011 lineup. The Nox was originally seen at a range event and stood out among other high-end 2011 pistols. For 2026, Jacob Grey has focused heavily on grip module development. The updated grip module, first seen on the Nox, now carries over to the Hex series, creating a consistent feel across the line. The goal has been to refine ergonomics and control while maintaining the performance that drew attention when the Nox first launched.
The new Hex Pro is introduced as a 4.6-inch 2011 with a chunk-ported barrel intended to be a very fast, flat-shooting pistol. It uses the same grip module as the Nox, with a pronounced palm swell and double undercut to allow a high, secure grip. Texture is carefully mapped to the shooter’s hand: high-wear rub spots receive lighter texture, while areas where the hand or glove needs more purchase get more aggressive texturing. The original Hex remains in production at an MSRP of about $3,500, produced in limited monthly batches depending on steel frame manufacturing capacity. The Hex Pro comes in at an MSRP of about $4,800, positioned as a steel-frame, chunk-ported 4.6-inch model staying under the $5,000 mark.
Discussion shifts to the Nox 9, which uses an aggressively textured grip pattern of X-shaped cuts that many shooters favor. The pistol is ported and compensated, which vents gas and results in significant energy loss at the muzzle, helping the gun run extremely flat. A booth sample reportedly has around 7,000 rounds through it and still feels well broken-in and smooth. Both the Nox 9 and Hex Pro now feature an adjustable trigger with a screw to tune take-up, an upgrade from the earlier Hex models. Jacob Grey has also developed an in-house Armored Billet parts line, with redesigned components such as safeties that are dimensioned to work in other 2011 pistols. These Armored Billet kits are planned for release around Q2 or Q3, allowing owners of other 2011s to retrofit select Jacob Grey parts.
The Nox 9 is already available through dealers, and Hex Pro pistols are scheduled to begin shipping the following month. Dealer interest at SHOT Show has been strong enough that many dealers appear to be allocated out on Nox 9 inventory for much of 2026. Jacob Grey has shifted from building inventory first to planning fixed monthly production runs, such as about 75 Nox 9 pistols and 75 Hex Pros per month. A new Nox 9 Limited model is also revealed. This version is a 5-inch, naturally aspirated Nox 9 with no ports and no compensator. It features a polished, two-tone finish and is described as extremely smooth in operation and trigger feel. The Nox 9 Limited is slated to start shipping within about a month alongside the standard Nox 9 and Hex Pro.
Jacob Grey explains that these pistols are production models rather than custom-order builds. Triggers are set at approximately 2.5 pounds from the factory, with the adjustable system allowing knowledgeable users to fine-tune pull weight if desired. Unlike earlier Hex runs that offered multiple color variations, the new lineup is standardized. The Hex Pro line will be offered in a carbon gray and black finish. The Nox 9 and Nox 9 Limited will continue with a black and Canyon Copper two-tone scheme. This approach simplifies production while still providing distinct visual identities for each model. Shooters interested in specific configurations are directed to work through Jacob Grey’s dealer network rather than ordering custom one-off builds.
The segment concludes with the introduction of the Recoil Reaper, a hydraulic, toolless guide rod designed for the broader 1911 and 2011 market. It is intended to fit essentially any 1911 or 2011 pistol, including older single-stack .45 ACP models. The Recoil Reaper is described as providing roughly 20–30% reduction in felt recoil by dampening the impulse and softening the punch into the shooter’s hand, helping the gun track flatter. Installation is drop-in: users retain their existing recoil spring, and Jacob Grey will include additional springs for tuning based on ammunition and desired feel. The showcased unit is sized around a 4.25-inch configuration, but it can also be used in 4.6- or 5-inch setups where it will sit slightly recessed in the bushing or plug while functioning the same. The Recoil Reaper is priced at about $229 and is sold directly through Jacob Grey for consumers, dealers, and OEMs.
